    It is only four days until the release of Nintendo’s Next-Gen console is released and what do we know about it ?

    In this article i will attempt to post everything that you need to know.

    Some Interesting Facts.
    Wii U OS Level Screenshot
    You will be able to take screenshots during games, its not clear if it is available on all games or only a select few.

    No More Blocks
    On all games, right up to the 3DS, Nintendo have used blocks as a form of indicating storage space, this all changes with the Wii U, they will use normal space measurements, now you will see “this game save needs x.xxMB” instead of “this game save needs x.xx Blocks”

    Games
    Wii U games come on a proprietary high-density optical disc, which has been created by the help of Panasonic and have a maximum capacity of 25GB, the disc’s have smooth rounded edges, here is an image:

    Region
    It has been reported that Wii U games are region locked, its not a big deal for most people, but it will affect those that like playing games from Japan, that never seems to see the light of day in western countries.

    Backwards Compatibility
    The Wii U lets us play your Wii games.

    The Wii U’s “Wii U Channel” has an application called “Wii Channel”, which when selected takes you a replica of the Wii Channel, from there you will be able to play your Wii games, that was the good part, now for the bad.

    When in the Wii Channel, you will not be able to use the Wii U Pads Screen, all games will be rendered in SD, all Wii games and VC games will only be accessible via the Wii Channel and not on the main Wii U channel.

    You will be able to move data from your Wii to your Wii U, but not from Wii U to Wii.

    Nintendo eShop
    If you know what the PS3′s PS Store is, im sure you can guess what Nintendo’s eShop is.
    On the eShop, you will be able to download the same full games that you get on disc, lets hope not all games are 25GB >.<
    You will also be able to download demo’s and HD video from the eShop.

    Storage/Game Saving
    As you will have noticed with the eShop statement, you will be able to download full games, now with the Wii U Basic only having about 7GB storage and the Wii U Premium having about 29GB, that doesn’t give much room for full game download as well as movies and game saves.

    Thankfully the Wii U lets us plug in up to 2TB of external storage, which will be formatted by the Wii U and wont be readable on a PC, this massive HDD space allows us to store full games as well as movies and game saves, it is recommended that you use a power supply with the HDD and a dual USB cable is not advised.

    You can also use SD Cards, but only for Wii and VC Data, you will not be able to store Wii U Data to it.

      Sounds crap specs, Wii U will get leap frogged once the propper next gen consoles come from Sony & MS. I'll pass on this crap as I did the Wii.

      I plan on buying Sonys nex console thou, for sure. Can't wait to see specs and tech/game demo's, hopefully at e3 2013.

      That tablet pad looks pathetic, way two big to hold.Not even made to fit properly in ya hand. Can't see kids using this/ can't believe ninty would get the design so wrong.

      I'll wait until the region lock gets busted before buying one. Hopefully the process isn't as complicated as on the 360

      And it's so weird that you can use an external drive to play legit console games... They could've at least included USB 3.0 support, loading would've been at least 3 times faster than USB 2.0

      The Wii wiped the floor with the PS3 and the 360, it has crap specs compared to both of them, it is still wiping the floor with both those consoles

      Wi sales are dropping off at an alarming rate, thats why Ninty bringing Wii U out.

      Wii = 97million
      PS3 = 68million
      360 = 70million

      I bet both PS3 and 360 will catch and overtake Wii sales, thats a given.

      I find that hard to believe. With both Microsoft and Sony slated to have new consoles released next year. That means the prices of both PS3's and 360's will drop. At that point you'll probably be able to get 360's from a local pawn shop for $40. You can get them for $80 easily right now. So how do you figure they're going to sell 30 million consoles each within the next year. You might as well face it, Nintendo won this round. There's also the fact that many $ony customers have become disenchanted by their bad business practices.

      Am I the only one that laughed at "the disc’s have smooth rounded edges"?
      Anyway, I look forward to it once they have a way for me to play my HDD of wii games on it.
      My budget is starting to get a little tight so I probably won't have one till spring but if I'll be able to play my Wii backups by then I'm so on it!

      I'm gonna wait a lil while, but the launch line up is probably the best launch lineup any console's seen in years.

      The 3DS outsold the vita 89 to 1 last week, and there's already high demand for the wii-U.

      It'll look good next to my PS3. The 360, as i've mentioned, is being sold.

      I'll be happy never pirating on the wii-U either. But I'll stick to buying exclusive games.

      As for the moron who saw next to no specs and then trashed it.. marty or whatever... The graphics chip the Wii-U has is around 4-5x more capable than PS3 is. It has 8x the ram, and god knows what its processor is... although, from the PS3, we know an ultra powerful processor does diddly-squat for gaming in general. In fact, Does anyone know how much of the cell the PS3 has used at its peak?

      With no formal announcement of PS4, or a new xbox... I guarantee you'll be waiting a long long time. Probably for not that much of a leap in power.

      The Wii-U will hold its own just fine. Being the most powerful doesn't go for anything. PS2 outsold the gamecube and xbox put together. Ps2 was vastly underpowered in comparison to both also.

      PS1 blew away the dreamcast and N64 as well. Both much more powerful consoles. (I guess you could argue the N64's shoddy texture memory was inferior?)

      gameboy smoked the lynx and gamegear, DS humped the PSP etc etc. The underdog always seems to attract the buyers.

      One thing you can guarantee though. An HD console/Tablet/Handheld will have homebrew developers slavering to get the thing blown wide open. It will be homebrew capable pretty quickly.

      If people believe Sony and Microsoft are making a huge leap, you must not know how consoles work... besides all signs point for mostly Digital Titles for both of the latter companies, so yeah...they might have better ethernet ports. pffft

      I for one can't wait to get into a WiiU. :P

      usb 2.0? not 3.0? 3.0 controllers are really cheap these days. I guess its a weird choice. But according to specs i think console will be very cheap. So if you don't have a wii maybe its time to buy wii u.

      Go to a Best Buy and actually hold it if you're in the US. I thought the same thing as you until I actually held the controller in my hand. It's actually super light and it feels amazing.

      I know a couple of people who have had access WiiU's already and are "working on exploits/homebrew": however none of them have confirmed that their exploits work on WiiU which either means they are keeping it close to their chests, or its unhackable right now.. I believe its option 1

      I dont think I will invest until there is a new Zelda game, or its been hacked, whichever comes first.

      It's the morons who don't have a clue. Who think that next generation will be some miracle leap. Gaming won't ever come on in leaps and bounds anymore. The only thing that has is handheld gaming, with mobile chips being incredibly powerful in recent years.

      The PS3'll be around for a while I think. I'll be perfectly happy if it is too. Because my entertainment system will be pretty complete with the PS3, wii-U, and the 3DS plus my phone and tablet (S3 and the shockingly capable HP touchpad running CM9) have my portable needs sorted.

      Not buying another xbox. Had my fingers burned too many times.

      its still not that cheap there all run by the same company youl see all the cataloge sites look the same , there's one company that has loads of them . but hats not a bad price i guess but then as he said theres the intrest on top of that monthly if you dont pay it fast

      I used to use Littlewoods, but had to stop because they were such a rip off

      Im thinking about getting an wii, i don't know i never liked nintendo(never have on console from them) maybe it's time to get one and see if it's cool.
      For the wiiU i don't have the cash to get one, but it's seems to be a nice console, i like the gamepad

      One analyst (I believe Micheal Patcher) is saying that the Wii U will be sold out until March of 2013, I don't know how true this is but I'm getting mine on release day. I'm thinking once it gets released is when everybody is going to want one. Maybe I'll get two of them and sell one on ebay for double price. I already saw somebody trying to sell one on craigslist for $750.

      Never really ever been a nintendo fan..... I will save up for when ps vita is hacked :D hopefully $ony wont get buthurt over it. When wii U is hacked I bet nintendo wont throw a fit like $ony did....... I think I will stick to good old dreamcast lol :D still the best system all homebrew works right of the bat same with the games no mod chip lol.

      The PSP was totally the dreamcasts true successor :P It was released without any security either!

      I loved my DC. Some games I still adore on there. Wish I could say that about my experiences with the xbox 360.

      Ah... I need more JRPGs in the vein of FF7/8/9 and a buttload of 3d platformers in my life.

      Nintendo generally are kinda quiet about piracy though. They shut down the holes and act like it never happened. The wii's been wide open for years though and it didn't do anyone any harm though.

      I like buying my Nintendo games though. Have no loyalty to any other company. Though will *always* have my sony consoles. I'd miss them if they weren't there.

      It'll have the I can't find it anywhere problem. The last time I owned a Nintendo console was the SNES, quite possibly the best gaming experience I"ve ever had with the PSone very close.       I've owned ever Sega, Nintendo, Playstation, and Microsoft console to date among a few others minus the Vita. I even still have a Virtual Boy with almost every US game released for it.

      I've noticed on the forums a lot of people relate their favorite console manufacturer/gaming experience with their childhood and I'm no different. I was born in 1980. For me it was Nintendo. We had Pong, ColecoVision, and of course all the Atari's. But nothing was like opening that NES for first time and playing Super Mario Brothers. I remember the movie "The Wizard" was just to hype Super Mario Bros. 3. We also had the Power Pad which was lots of fun too. It was the same with the Gameboy. I still have my original Gameboy. I had a SNES too but I never was too excited about any games on it. I had more fun playing those generation games like Mortal Kombat, NBA Live, and Madden Football on the Genesis. I preferred the Super Nintendo for NBA Jam and Street Fighter II. The Playstation was always just okay to me. I get more fun now playing retro games on my Xperia play phone that i did back then when they were new. Now at least the loading times are bearable. But when the Nintendo 64 came along and revolutionized the 3D gaming platform I was mind blown. I must have logged thousands of hours playing 007, Zelda's, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, and Perfect Dark among many others. The Dreamcast was simply ahead of it's time but it lacked on the DVD playback side. That's what killed it along side the EA blacklisting of the Dreamcast. But if you look at the XBOX remote it's almost identical to the Dreamcast remote minus the VMU and it as an extra joystick. XBOX also got it's LIVE cue from the Dreamcast online gaming experience. Now we get to the PS2 and what really started bothering me with console wars. Sony didn't really bring any innovation to any platform. They just brought high specs. To me this didn't make the experience near as much fun as the aforementioned products. Just better to look at. They stole so much innovation from other companies it's pathetic. The 64 brought the joystick which Sony ended up implementing. Really if you think about it all three Playstation controllers are laid out exactly like the Super Nintendo's except with an extra bumper and the later added joysticks. XBOX came and brought Live which then led to Sony again developing PSN. I remember when you had to buy the external internet adapter for the PS2. To me the XBOX blew the PS2 away in every aspect. They basically beat them at their own game and had better controllers(IMO) with LIVE to boot. They just joined the game late. The Gamecube was a disappointment of course but only if you clamored for high end specs and still looked better than the PS2. They also brought fresh controllers for the Gamecube. Then the next gen and Nintendo beat everybody on the innovation again with the Wiimote motion controllers which Sony was sure to come along and copy with their own version called "Move". At least the 360 was a little more original in doing away with their controllers with the Kinect. Still, Mario Kart Wii was crazy fun. And Twilight Princess was almost just as good as Ocarina of Time with much better graphics. Don't get me wrong, I think the PS3 is an amazing machine with a lot of potential. Sadly, that potential will never be realized with Sony's restrictions on their customers. They blew every body away with Bluray but nobody seems to care. Especially since you can play Bluray quality from file format now days. Now comes the Wii U and they've managed to actually give good specs along with more innovation in their new controller. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Playstation 4 follow suit but with twice as good graphics. I hope they can manage to innovate something their next time around.

      I never forgot about the NES, I must have been around 5 when I had it...I remember those carts that have 76 games in 1, which most games were the same but different palettes lol
      Nevermind the hours combined wasted on blowing carts.

      I don't know what happend to Sony this gen but they definately need to get in touch with their consumers and reality. They should have listened to what consumers wanted and not tell us what we want. If it continues like this next gen, I don't think they will last, they have great first party studios, they need to listen more.

      To true :D I also loved the psp the games especially the great port of powerstone 2 for psp :-) I dont think this generation of consoles are not as good as previous as COD games have just ruined the market and now a days every one just looks at FPS games :-(
