We have Six-Axis since PS3 was released back on 2007 but Wii gamepad wanted more, some crazy Nine-Axis Gamepad. (Yeah, we have Six-Axis on our controllers because of Nintendo. I know it.)
What bothers me, how many games actually on PS3 catalogue use it? = FLOWER and Killzone 3, maybe im missing some other game..but you know how $ony is.
Let’s see what’s the Nine-Axis is about.
To quote:
Nintendo’s been all hush-hush about the Wii U’s internal components, including those in its unique GamePad controller. But Gamesbeat has delved into what makes that GamePad tick by interviewing the “really smart people” behind its new nine-axis motion control technology.
Most motion controllers, including the old Wii Remote and the PS3 Sixaxis controller, use an accelerometer and a gyroscope to track position and movement, according to Gamesbeat’s report. But California’s PNI Sensor Corporation teamed with Nintendo to add geomagnetic sensors to that equation, turning the Sixaxis norm into a nine-axis wonder with more accurate motion controls than ever before.
“Nintendo was looking for something that had the means to do better motion tracking,” PNI Chief Executive Officer Becky Oh told GamesBeat. “They did a lot of different testing in many different areas so that if they did do a nine-axis tracking it would work in all different situations.”
Oh suggested that the technology could be used to make shooters, driving games and flying games better, if utilized properly by developers.
Have you tried out the Wii U GamePad’s nine-axis motion controls? Games like Nintendo Land, a pack-in for the Wii U deluxe edition, utilize them quite well. What do you think?

Whats with all the Wii crap... I mean the first tid bits of info was nice when it was first released.

ive been thinking the same thing. we are getting other console news on a PS3 site. I kinda see the comparison on this article but others not so much.
Anyways. What the hell is 9 axis anyways? Are there only 3 axis in the world that we use anyways. Up down, side to side and depth. i guess if you go diagonal is where you get the six axis but then there are 3 more? Right....

It's related to PS3 (hardware related) since we have six-axis since 2007 and was left to *die* by sony.
9 axis it's the same tech but improved.
If Nintendo will rely on 9 axis to make awesome games, i will wish them luck because they will surely fail.
It's something similar and probably *better* than apple three-axis gyroscope from Iphone 4.

hellsing9 hasn't joined there yet, so doesn't have the privileges, also we have a WiiU section here, so I see no problem with it being posted.
Its nice to have fresh news about another console, when PS3 news is a bit slow.

The WII U tablet controller is cheaply designed, its too big to hold in ya hands, button placement is bad, screen resolution poor, build quality poor. Whats to like about it? Exactly nothing.

MGS4 uses Sixaxis, and let me tell you... it's utter crap. Let me explain this with an example:
You are playing the game in a very stealthy gameplay. When you need to throw a granade, Sixaxis runs into the game and ****s you right in your face. Why's that?, because you aimed flawlessly to your target and in the exact moment you were going to press de fire button, your controller moved less than an inch and Sixaxis ****ed up your aim. But that's too late to stop throwing the granade, because Snake throws it in the ****ed up direction.
All of this, is very frustrating in every game. Sixaxis is boring because you don't pay attention to the game itself, but try to make que controller work as you want it to. Wanna play a game?, fine, sit your butt in some confy chair and grab a standard gamepad so you can take absolute control of it and don't let some minnor move you never wanted to make to ruin your gameplay.

I thought the Wiimote was based on the original PS Move idea that was to be released as part of the PS2's Eye Toy, long before the Wii came out.

It's a nice piece of hardware. Will look more into it but i will let pass some time until the Hype is gone.
But Nintendo already had enough good ideas that later were applied by other companies.

I have around the same number of Sony products as yourself.
Samsung 42" LCD HDTV(would'nt buy another Sammy, next set will be a Sony one)
2 PS3(Slim & Fat)
1 PS2
2 PS
Aiwa hi-fi seperates & 3 way speakers
Non Sony water cooled PC Tower
Asus laptop
Xperia mini ST15i(mobile)
Various Retro console, Atari, Nintendo, Sega, NEC etc
Never question that you couldnt post Wii U news, but why would u want too on a PS3 hax site.
Any how, we can all have opinions, does'nt always single ya out as FANBOY, likewise just because I don't own a Wii /Wii U or any Microsoft console(no intensions of buying one yet, maybe one day I'll add them too my collection).
That don't make me a FANBOY either.

Motion Gaming? Kill it before it lays more eggs.
Please, real gaming (console with actual controller) is being ruined by motion bullcrap. ._.

I suspect it will only be a matter of time before Sony releases more useless features in their "original" 9 axis remote. There will probably also be an edit to Wiki claiming that they were working on 9 axis back in 1983 before Nintendo had ever dreamed of it.

I like the info posted here on the wiiu basically i come here for my updates and i keep coming here because of the quality of the updates which is better than most other ps3 sites honestly ps3 news has mostly been lately firmware update/lawsuit/stock slumps (official news) so its fine i feel for a very good reason that was pointed out earlier nintendo say what you will is almost always the innovator from 3d to rumble to motion while they dont always succeed i certainly dont mind being aware i am still saving pennies for a wiiu and noone i know has one so these articles have been helpful
A favorite of mine on ps3 has always been flow and flower is absolutely amazing while i prefer tradional controls those games have shown me how cool this mechanic can be journey also has some elements like this as well...all top notch games for ps3 owners

Didn't Nintendo, like, semi-desist from 3D use on 3DS because games were better on 2D?
All these gimmick craps need to phase out, they're not improving the games, only dumbing them down.
11-28-2012
06:54 PM
Dude games have become soooo dumbed down but i like attempts to innovate though but seriously anyone here play dragon warrior 1 i mean looking through all those squares lol that would never work now there are parts of the first two zelda games like that too...but seriously no one knows about pyramid magic 2 that game was so frigging hard and i am talking first level lol

As for the screen resolution, I didn't particularly pick up on that it was low res. But, if you think about it, a higher res GamePad would have required extra power (and extra cost) or gimping the games. Since it's mainly a secondary screen and it's fairly small, I don't think it's that big a deal.
The only argument I have with the controller is the lack of analogue triggers, which feel a bit nicer when you're playing games that make use of them.

Folklore is a must have title that makes proper use of the six axis control. I recommend this game. The story is awesome
