On Monday morning, new information concerning the mysterious title, “The Phantom Pain”, surfaced which suggests the title will release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

As we detailed a couple days ago, during the Spike TV “Video Game Awards”, an enigmatic franchise was shown known as “The Phantom Pain” which left people wondering what it was, who was making it, and what consoles it was for.

Soon after the title’s debut, internet sleuths pieced together various clues to come to the conclusion that “The Phantom Pain” is a Hideo Kojima title and is likely “Metal Gear Solid V” – or “Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes”.

For additional information, please read the following article which details why “The Phantom Pain” is likely “Metal Gear Solid 5” right here.

On Monday, the official website of Moby Dick Studios, supposed development studio of “Phantom Pain”, was updated with new screens and other information which helps shed new light on the project.

According to the website, “The Phantom Pain” is currently in development for Xbox 360 and PS3 and that the trailer shown on Friday evening – view the trailer here – was running in real-time on hardware equivalent to current generation consoles.

    The website reads:

All footage is shown running in real-time on hardware equivalent to current generation consoles (PS3 & XBOX360).

How is this about Metal Gear?

And if this were to be a trailer for Ground Zeroes, why would they be so cryptic about it?
They already announced the game with a previous trailer, showing gameplay and what not, it would make no sense for them to create a cryptic teaser trailer for the same game now...

Who came up with the idea that this is MGS5 and why is the "news" reporting it is MGS without confirming anything?

This IS NOT Naked Snake. How do I know?, easy, check his left arm. It's a mechanic claw, some kind of prosthesis. Besides, do you really think that Naked Snake would end up in a ****ing coma after he had defeated the Shagohod, The Boss, the other bad guys of MGS3 and the russian army single handed?.

And as BobbyBlunt cleaverly pointed out some posts back, Snake by the end of MGS3 was without the bandage on his eye, in other words Snake was "cured" and didn't requiere more bandage.

This game is pure publicity, with a character very similar to Snake and some sort of story that has nothing to do with Metal Gear (in any possible ways).

Looks interesting and it's probably MGS5. I know the prosthetic hand and other things don't make sense but Kojima is trolling us all. The arm, the bandage over his face and everything else is there just so we'd talk about the game. You can also see a person who looks a lot like Volgin and some floating body that evokes the memory of Psycho Mantis instantly at the end of that trailer.

      Also, there's this.

And we're all talking about it while we argue and wonder what it is, just like the rest of the internet. Nice work, Kojima.

Kojima has a very nice troll reputation. (No place for hideo)
We don't know what kind of twisted argument will have or indeed if this is MGS5 nothing is confirmed on the article and until Kojima says something specific about it we can only speculate all we want and debate about it (that's what he likes to create, speculation) hell, maybe this can be some flashback or side effect of some kind of mind manipulation *Mantis style* also this guy (Kojima) is an expert to make complicated and well elaborated story lines, scripts, etc.

Here we are not talking about DMC creator (no pun intended)..Is Kojima (Capital letters) which means to any MGS fan = Everything is possible.

Nobody tought that big boss was still *alive* on MGS 4 guns of the patriots. Snake's *There's one thing stills needs to do* gives enough room to even more speculation and already left the end of MGS 4 pretty much open to anything. (You name it).

Sometime later, Otacon caught up with Snake and asked him where he was going. Snake, who had decided to quit smoking, responded that "there's one thing [he] still needs to do," that was to "see this age off and see what the future brings." (Really? retirement?) Otacon agreed with Solid about his friend being unable to pass on anything to the next generation and insisted that he and Sunny accompany him to document the final days of his hero and friend and, after some persuasion, Snake agreed.
Later, Sunny was cooking eggs in the Nomad, finally making them perfectly. Proudly, she exclaimed:

"Sorta looks like the sun... it's rising again."
      — Sunny
      Rising...ring any bells?.
Also Metal Gear *Zeroes*..nobody remember Major Zero = Official commander of FOX, founding member of the patriots?.

i think its a dream sequence from ground zeros. a nightmare induced by psycho-mantis

also remember that they used soldius snakes body to repair big boss's body and how liquid snakes hand was mated to ocelot, so the left arm might just be a spin off of those ideas

Big Boss died at the end of MGS4 because of the Fox Die virus, as stated by Kojima himself in some interviews and in the MGS Data Base, so there is no Big Boss after the events of MGS4 (hence why they've made Portable Ops and PeaceWalker).

What Snake was refering at when he said that he had one more thing to do, was that he thought that needed to kill himself in order to suppress the Fox Die virus and stop himself from killing everyone. But then, when Snake realizes that Drebin's nanomachines where nullifying the Fox Die virus, he was onto live his final days in peace, never to be worried about him killing everyone with the virus.

I will stick into the "illusion" line, or maybe an alternative timeline of events that could had happened if Big Boss have failed in some of the prequels of MGS. But this is not cannonical in any ways, there is no place in the storylines as we know them to put Psycho Mantis or The Sorrow with Big Boss in any way.

Let's have a little review, The Sorrow died before Big Boss started his mission in MGS3. Psycho Mantis never knew Big Boss at that time because Mantis was in the USSR at that time, and became a Fox Hound member when Big Boss already left the team (Zanzibar Land and stuff).

If there is a MGS5, then it would carry on with Big Boss' story, maybe right before what happened in MG1.

It seems that you didn't understand what happened in MGS4. Solidous' body was used as a decoy (although, nobody knew that it wasn't Big Boss' body at that time) to meet the demands of Liquid Ocelot, and was never used to repair Big Boss' body (Big Boss was never injured).

I don't want to have to buy another console just to play this but I will if it comes to that. I hope that this comes to PC!

I also wonder how many discs this will be on 360.

I'm more interested on Metal Gear Rising than anything else related to Metal Gear. Nevertheless, this is cool.
