The good old times.. never can have them again. The new stuff doesn't bring good fun like that stuff did.

There were so many great games compared to what you see now

It's like every generation **** gets worse...

its true, ps1 and ps2 games were beast. games these days dont have the same character as they did, they may be more realistic today, but earlier games were more longer, enjoyable, and i still play them today, versus the few moments i even touch my ps3/360 anymore.

Games became more about graphics and less about gameplay.

I agree. Nothing truly revolutionary happened with this gen of consoles. PSX/PS2 was the era. Im just glad I was around to see it.

Since they stopped production a few weeks ago, I told myself Im going to get a slim again. I just couldnt let the console drift completely away like the psx did and find myself wanting to play some PS2 games on an actual PS2 down the lines. Since then I bought one AND one was given to me for free. I cant bring myself to sell one

I'll keep it simple: everything from the past is better as what we have now

For me the Commodore Amiga actually changed the world with 16 bit 4 channel stereo sound, 4096 colors and pre-emptive multitasking by using a custom chipset next to the processor (and all the rest, to much to mention). But that is just me

2001 – PS2 introduces online gaming to the masses

Yes SOCOM lead to many things for me. I had many hundreds of hours of entertainment, I was introduced to the online gamin community, it helped me realize I had a passion for electroincs, it pushed me to sit down and learn a computer (at the time I only had an online PS2 and no PC at all), it pushed me forward into the next generation and into this community.. not to mention all the relationship problems it caused for me

The PS2 was epic and is greatly missed. I am hoping maybe Sony can recapture that magic with the next Playstation. PS3 didn't even come close

I have to agree with you, back in 1986, when I purchased my first Amiga, the Amiga 1000 is my favorite computer out of all the ones I've owned (Vic 20, c64, apple 2, ti99/4a, to many to list) and I still have all my old computers along with the later Amiga's (2000, 3000, 4000 and 4000T with video toaster).

if you would like a good read, the book 'the future was here' by Jimmy Maher is all about the history in the making of the Amiga 1000, from concepts to realities.

you know what i like the origional genesis or master system. even sega cd had a cpl ground breaking games. cant remember the name but its a zombie shooter. ur on a truck in the jungle with some jamacian guy... for its time in the 90's it was impressive. moving graphics. gun controllers that arent tiny like nintento and look like an actual gun. ppl can say what they want. i love amiga and atari also. and even tho ppl hate on nintendo and sega ill say this..... mid 80's nes comes out. almost 30 years later nintendo is still alive. minus the console sega is too. they make games. arcade boards. many of you wont get this but the ringwave is a really awesome piece of tech, i encourage ppl to check it out. and as for sony. ps1 was great. and the reason we got it was because nintendo was dumb. little know fact. nintendo wanted a sega attatchment for the snes like sega had the sega cd. so they got sony to make one. then pulled the plug. and thats your ps1. there is also a few hybrid copies of this unit lurking around the world. a super nintendo with a cd drive underneath it that plays cd games. neat hey? in the 27 years ive been alive ive watched crazy changes in the tech world. from green screen macs to 1080p. amiga to ps3. and there is alot groundbreaking about the next gen consoles. except the 360 lol. the ps3 gave us blu ray. had built in 3d and hd. a good working wireless mic. free online gameplay. and i dont care what anyone says about it uncharted are awesome damn games. all 3 of them. some of sony's best work. that said i realize i list a few good points when they have 10000s of bad... but im just replying to an earlier comment saying nothing groundbreaking.. blu ray alone is a huge advancement... linux on console. even on ps2 there was linux. speaking of ps2 linux. i keep seeing ppl ask if an adapter for ps3 to vga exists and ppl say no its analog to digital n so on. there actually is one sony made that came with the ps2 linux distro. i know it works for linux on ps2. just cannot confirm if it works for the games as well. id guess it would tho but only on certain display types.

and despite my negativity i feel toward nintendo in terms of homebrew and modding the wii was pretty damn cool.. and i didnt hate the controllers i found i moved alot faster in black ops.. i didnt like em that much tho. and when i was a kid.. star fox 64 was awesome lol. despite the cheap plasticy feel and kiddy like products.... they have been solid for a long time in maintaining a presence in the gaming world. the wii u isnt too bad either to be honest.. i dont know why but i flat out dont like xbox 360.. i own one. but never use it.. for anything at all lol. never got into it. dont like microsoft actually

lol observe forum rules on insulting members :P that said devil may cry and god of war and silent hill rock. gta cant be included as a console game because it was designed and created for pc then ported. so its not a true console game. however it is a good one

So I'm not crazy I remember they took out flyable planes cuz of 9/11 (Dodo was a hard thing to fly around with)

Yeah it's indeed a stupid mistake for an Official PS magazine, specially cuz GTA III really brought the PS2 to life (imho)
One of the first major titles that helped Sony to sell thousands of PS2's

If the Dreamcast wasn't ever shafted out of the competition it would have made and even better impact than the PS2.

I've owned a PS2 since launch. Even though I'm an avid game and console collector, I admittedly bought this back then for the DVD playback capability. I was never really impressed with it. It always seemed like quantity over quality to me. I've probably played the PS2 less than any other console I own even though I've tried dozens of games on it. Meh...I'm glad it's done and over with.

well... i like final fantasy games. from ps1 through ps2. not ps3 however... they kinda ruined ff 13 and i never tried the other one. and i liked need for speed most wanted. the games were good if ya played the right ones. its got crap games. every system did. but its got some real gems too.
