• Sick of multiMan?

Try Estwald’s latest update to his already popular Iris Manager:

• Now to have an hour of downtime in Iris console off
• As I said, in Iris temperature alarm: 90 seconds without the temperature drops below 80 degrees C in either CPU or RSX and the console is turned off.
• The addition of the callback Disc allows’re not constantly checking whether there is a disc in and it allows the reader to rest.
• Added support for redirection libfs.sprx: copy by ftp or via usb (usb :/ gets into iris) libfs_patched.sprx, which is generated by patch_libfs.bat (do not forget to put keys in the data folder!) And games like COD4: MW to operate from internal BD-Emu mount
• In Tools (press START) the “Copy from / dev_usb / Iris to Iris folder” will make life easier to move things to the installation directory of Iris Manager. For example, if you put “covers” of Multiman within the USB folder, you copy your own content or libfs_parched.sprx we talked about. The option uses asynchronous copying to gain speed.

IMPORTANT: This new option may damage the Iris Manager installation if not used with head, for logical reasons.

NOTE: Obviously, there is no option to delete anything that is copied, except by FTP or pulling or uninstalling other programs (which will render the games settings, etc.) Enjoy it!

So we want the ps3 to stay at 80° O.o

Thought proper temperature was like 72°-76° with that setting like that Iris should shut off ps3 as soon as you launch Iris. O.o thats gotta be a typo.

What this mean exactly ?

And this "NOTE: Obviously, there is no option to delete anything that is copied, except by FTP or pulling or uninstalling other programs (which will render the games settings, etc.) Enjoy it!" really sucks

I think he's just trying to save your PS3's if the temp goes too high.

Another great release for Iris.

I believe the temperature alarm should be implemented into cfws instead of backup managers. It allows more protection to cfw users who have higher GPU/CPU Temps than others. Actually to every cfw user becauase it will do automatic moderations for music/movie playback and as well games. Maybe Rogero or Rebug can do this? But have it as an option you can decide to enable it or not.

R3QU13M it would have to be user adjustable as some different PS3 SKU's run at slightly different temps... and some people freak out before others

This Iris Manager getting a lot of development lately. Which is great! Is it using DeanK's MM code or is it written from scratch differently?

Different afaik:

IrisManager is a port of HermesManager based on PSLIGHT, Tiny3D, PS3Soundlib and OpenPS3FTP, is a completly legal open code manager made with Homebrew tools.

LOL

Iris Manager originates from Open Manager, which all the other Backup managers do as well, just like multiMAN, which originated from someone else's open source code.

I think you're misreading it.
80° is considered too high a temperature, so if it stays at or above 80° for over 90 seconds, it will power down the PS3. Makes perfect sense to me.
72°-76° are below 80°, so there would be no issue.

I suspect all temperature displays are inaccurate...my slim console shoots up to 50 degrees C from an "ICE COLD STATE" in less than 20 seconds! (or so says REBUG toolbox)...that's faster than my flat iron LOL

What about the temperature alarm being a stand alone application (installable .pkg)? It will help us determine if we want to reflow or reball it before it overheats resulting to YLOD.

i think it's perfectly legit and reporting accurate temps...either way mod it with a coolfan...even playing games..me not a real heavy gamer but the temps after coldboot..then goes up some degrees and stays stable..aka almost not going higher after playing 1hour....the cultprit is the noise huh on the phats...

No. As the sentence you quoted says if the temp DOESN'T drop below 80° after 90 seconds then the console switches off. 80° seems to be the chosen maximum tolerance before the alarm kick in. You wouldn't set a killswitch to kick in at optimal temps now would you

EDIT. Oops Mr. Goodfrag already posted the reasons.
Disregard my post

It’s better in the terms that more people can contribute as is an open source project.
The potential of this project is way better than that of multiMan, I still miss a versioning repository for this project though. Does it follow these standards? ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/doo...onventions.doc

It’s worse in the terms of milage. multiMan is well ahead of this project, still I "Up!" the underdogs.

Hmmm, the readme says 1.49.3...

Estwald has released the new version:

Iris Manager 1.50

Changelog:
- Load PSX ISOS from internal HDD or USB devices.

Adding PSX isos for Iris Manager 1.50+:

- Create PSXGAMES folder in root of HDD or USB devices

- Put the PSX game folder here. The name of the folder is used as game name from Iris Manager.

- PSX game files must be .bin or .img files (or BIN, .IMG) containing sectors of 2352 bytes. You can put from 1 to 8 "iso" files

- Iris manager get "isos" in alphanumerical order. When you launch a game with multiple isos you can rotate the order in one screen
in the last moment.

- You can put a COVER.JPG file (max size of 1024 x 1024 pixels)

- PSX config is saved in the game folder

Example of game structure:

/dev_usb000
/PSXGAMES
/Metal Gear Solid
|
|--- COVER.JPG -> the cover
|
|--- MGS1.IMG -> disc 1
|
---- MGS2.IMG -> disc 2
|
|-- psx_config.cfg -> psx config. saved from Iris Manager (Memory Card, Video Options...)

In gaming:

Iris Manager mount USB/ BDVD and HDD0 in this preference order to change virtually the disc. if one device can be mounted
it is used for simulate EJECT/PUT the disc

if a game have two or more disc when the game ask for a disc change, unplug and plug USB device or eject and put the CD/DVD/BR disc to change
of "iso" (to be sure when you "eject" it green led is blinking and when you put one "new" media green led is unblinking). The method is
rotatory so when it use the last iso it turn to the first iso.

NOTE: You can use a BR disc without problem in the patched PSX Emu. Eject the media is unnecessary to play the game.
I can't put links sorry, I don't have the necessary post to do it. But you can find it in the official thread in elotrolado.net.

Im impressed, PSX ISOS working great!

Basic instructions:

- Extract the rar
- Extract patch_ps1emu.rar
- Copy the file /dev_flash/ps1emu/ps1_emu.self from your PS3 (using FTP or a filemanager) and place the file into the patch_ps1emu extracted folder
- Run patch_ps1emu.bat
- Copy (or ftp) the generated ps1_emu_patched.self to the IRIS MANAGER folder (/dev_hdd0/game/IMANAGER4)

Directory structure:

/dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/yourgamename

Inside the game folder, just place your BIN/IMG and a Cover.jpg (the image for the game cover on Iris game list), Start Iris Manager and run the game
