PS3HaX member LoboGuara has put together an awesome tutorial to help people using Iris manager, hre is a quote from his thread:
The objective of this thread is to gather all available information in a single place. It’s far from perfect, but I count with the help of you guys to improve it over time. I apologize for my bad English, corrections and criticisms are welcome.
Things you need:
The latest Iris Manager release (Actually, 1.54)
http://mods.elotrolado.net/~hermes/p…anager-4-x.rarTrueAncestor SELF resigner (only for the required files)
http://www.mediafire.com/?4ojs79teb4486x4A file manager (i.e. multiMAN , Comgenie Awesome FileManager) OR a working PC-PS3 ftp connection
Install the Iris PKG on your PS3 (The pkg is inside the rar file: irismanager-4-x.pkg)
1. Extract the Iris Manager rar file on your PC
2. Inside the Iris uncompressed folder, you will se a file named patch_ps1emu.rar. Extract this file
3. Extract TrueAncestor SELF resigner and copy the contents of the DATA folder (ldr_curves, vsh_curves, keys) to the patch_ps1emu DATA folder.
4. Copy the file /dev_flash/ps1emu/ps1_emu.self (using FTP or a file Manager) and put this file into the patch_ps1emu extracted folder
5. Run patch_ps1emu.bat with Administrator privileges
6. Copy the generated ps1_emu_patched2.self to the IRIS MANAGER folder on PS3 (usually /dev_hdd0/game/IMANAGER4)
Example: /dev_hdd0/game/IMANAGER4/ ps1_emu_patched2.self
Preparing your PSX ISOS:
On your EXTERNAL USB device, create a folder called “PSXISOS”
/dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/
Inside the PSXGAMES folder, create a foder with the game name
Example:
/dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/CrashBandicoot/
Inside the game folder, put your ISO/BIN/IMG and Optionally, a JPG image named “Cover.jpg” (to get the cover showing on Iris Manager game list),
The Directory structure should be like this:
/dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/CrashBandicoot/CrashBandicoot.iso
If the game has multiple disks, put the other disk images in the same folder respecting the filename of the first disc. Example
/dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/FinalFantasy9/ FF9_disc1.ISO
/dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/FinalFantasy9/ FF9_disc2.ISO
/dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/FinalFantasy9/ FF9_disc3.ISO
/dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/FinalFantasy9/ FF9_disc4.ISOThe Cover image must not exceed 1024×1024 in size
Done. Your PSX games will now apperar on Iris Game list
Note: there is a pkg containing the patched ps1_emu_patched2.self , you can download it HERE if you are having problems patching your own file. Im not recommending using it, since i have not tested this pkg myself.
Example of the correct folder structure using Iris Manager:
PS3 GAMES:
Iris Manager will search for your PS3 games on /dev_usb000/GAMEZ instead of GAMES
If you are a multiMAN user, you can just rename your GAMES folder to GAMEZ. Since multiMAN search for games in both GAMES and GAMEZ folder, you will have no problems.
GAME COVERS
You can use the same multiMAN “covers” on Iris Manager! Just copy the “covers” folder into the Iris Manager directory
Ex: /dev_hdd0/game/IMANAGER4/covers
Tips:
To load the last played game: Hold L1 at Iris Manager startup
Sorting the games by system: Press L2 (PSX) or R2 (PS3)
Game config: Select your PSX/PS3 game and press SELECT
General config: Press START
Iris Manager Translations:ps3hax user @brunolee provide a nice language pkgs, you can get these translations here: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=51087
Just install the respective .pkg and you are done!
Have fun!

I think you should also add how to use cheat disc like "Xploder V4". BTW, Xploder V4 works with with Iris 1.54 perfectly.

I'd like to add, but I have no idea how it works (I never used Xploder).
If you can provide this information, I'll be glad to add to the post (giving you the proper credits. )

LoboGuara Actually it is kinda easy.
1. Create /PSXGAMES/CHEATS folder
2. Put here the .bin, .img... file of cheat disc. This file must be with 2352 bytes per sector because it can
be used to create different versions (2048, 2368,... per sector)
3. When you launch a game, if cheat disc exist, the program ask if you want to use it.
4. To change the disc remember to use one USB device (unplug/plug) one disc (eject/put) in other case.

I do not provided only "a nice language pkgs"
I also provided a "ps1_emu_patched2" pkgs

GregoryRasputin I made a mistake in the original post (PSXISOS should be PSXGAMES on "Preparing your PSX ISOS" section) that ended up frontpaged. Sorry for the lack of attention.

I liked this manager when it was first released. It was the first to incorporate the hermes payload and allowed for the playback of split games from external. Now it also allows the playback of PS1 .img files as well. I can't wait until open cobra is put out for everyone to see and gets incorporated into this BM.
MultiMAN has just become too heavy over these last few years. Now if we ever see plugins like what we had on the PSP and we could set MultiMAN to autoboot instead of the XMB (like IRShell on PSP) then multiMAN would be my favorite, but in the current form I have actually stayed away from it. I have used Rogero and Iris manager for a very long time now. A BM should be a BM and not a million other things as well. Don't take this as me bashing MM, but I just prefer the simplicity of other BMs.

Hi loboguara and all users.
I have two questions.
1- How can i make the iris 1.54 run on my CFW 3.55 TB v2? (yes, i know that it's useless but in the moment i want to keep on this cfw)
2- how many games i can put on the /dev_usb000/PSXGAMES/ ?
Thanks.
01-29-2013
03:46 AM
1 - I think that the TB and Cobra CFW are not supported.
A quote from brewology:
2 - I have no idea! Is there a limit?

When I selected one of 19 cheat discs, screen goes black, and I uplug usb memory stick from PS3 console, the green indicator lamp beside I/O power button goes out.
Then I plug in usb memory stick, the green indicator lamp goes on, but the screen is still black. The game did not start...
Do you have any idea?

hey quick question only reason i haven't checked out iris is it seemed to be wip and the whole editing my ps1 emu file sounded like a pain this tutorial def helps but i am curious about a few things so last night i booted up multiman so i could watch a rip of the royal rumble in showtime when i did multiman was asking to update (of course what else is new lol) in the new update it claimed to add psx backup iso support...so do multiman do this without me needing to edit my files? it also said backup iso support was not as good as running from disc does editing the file allow for more compatibility? thanks for anyone who knows and can help clarify...

Have you copied the patched ps1_emu_patched2.self to the Iris folder on your PS3? You can try installing brunolee ps1_emu_patched2 pkg instead (and vice-versa, if you are using the pkg, you can try the manual patching method)

A tip to make it easier:
Open Windows explorer (Open any folder or press Windows key+E)
press ALT, go to "tools" then "folder options"
On the "View" tab, scroll down until you see "Hide extensions for known file types" and uncheck this line.
You will be able to view and rename the file extensions using explorer.

When I was searching around I came across a blog that had a cover pack for iris
I tested it works, its not a pkg just a folder called iris (with covers inside)
you extract it to the root of a usb and use the tools in iris manager to transfer from dev usb iris to iris folder for more info read the txt file
01-31-2013
09:27 PM
Thanks for sharing. Do you have the source of this cover pack?
I would like to add it to the tutorial and give proper credits.
Alternatively, it is possible to download a pack with 4391 covers here
http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=25246
02-01-2013
04:01 AM
I'll pm you the link so you can decide how you want to credit them
Full instructions is inside the txt file aswell
Like I said its not a pkg just the covers inside a folder called iris
so its ready just to be extracted and use the iris manager tools to transfer them over, it contains over 5500 covers
02-01-2013
05:00 AM
You are right, I cannot post the source
But since they are just the multiMAN covers (unrelated to the blog), then there is no problem sharing the link itself.
Thanks again @faith genesis raven

to get to change the controller mode to analog, and when I get back into the game, the analog sticks are still not working. I even try connecting the USB cable from PS3 to Controller, still no luck.
You stated that Xploder V4 is not working in on 1.5.5.
I just tested it on 1.55. It works fine without any problem. All the cheats are working file. I am on Rebug 3.55.4 REX.
On another note -
I have a problem getting analog controller mode working. I was playing Pocket Fighter. I am aware that the game is compatible with Analog mode. When I press
Could you advice what could be the problem?
Thanks.

08:25 AM
This same problem happened to me, running Pocket Fighter.
Using the same CD image to play on PC emulators, the analog works fine. I think its a compatibility issue with the emulator. I ended up using the psn release...

I wonder if Iris Devs could fix the compatibility issue with Analog mode.

Now at Version 1.60 Beta 3 Release!
What's new:
1.60 Beta 3:
Improved emulation ps1_emu. Fixed some bugs, besides adding security enhancements.
There is no sound cuts so annoying.
Fixed problem with Internal_MC that were wrong (which should have got 0x0a 0xa0)
Added ability to create a formatted Internal_MC (Video / Others)
Added the ability to run and ps1_netemu.self ps1_emu.self from Iris directory (if copies / dev_hdd0/game/IMANAGER4. This opens the possibility, reaffirming, using emulators firmware lower than one, except that can be patched or not)
