      No you cannot.

You cannot install CFW over OFW higher than 3.55.

You cannot jailbreak 300X (slim) or 400X (ultraslim) PS3's AT ALL.

      0% possible.

FYI PS3 ultraslim has a min FW of 4.10.

Modified Firmware (MFW) === (CFW) Custom Firmware.

It means the same thing really.

Just curious, are there any downsides to QA flagging? I remember reading ages ago about potential issues with it unless it was due to something else.

      Nope.

Its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it

Thanks. I'm guessing the issues were related to OOS++ then (I genuinely can't remember).

      Hi Guys,

I was out of the PS3 hacking loop for a bit and want to upgrade my 3.55 KMEAW PS3. I see this tutorial installs the REBUG firmware. What is the difference between the REBUG firmware and the ROGERO one? I'm assuming DEX is for devs only?

Yes there is. Make sure that you backup hdd_001\home folder as it may delete the act.dat file found in the directories. I am backing it up right now. Mine is 1.14 GB in size.

You can use DEX if you use REBUG REX 4.21.1 (cex2dex), not standard 4.30.1.

Rogero 4.30 2.05 is just like KMEAW tbh, it does what it needs to with no extra things confusing you or getting in the way.

Rebug is for advanced users, Rogero is for anyone imho.

You can update to either through XMB, though we recommend to QA flag + dehash before hand, if it is a downgraded machine.

I always make two backups of my HDD, one via the backup utility (to backup profiles, etc.), another via FTP and another via file manager and checksum compare both so thankfully that's not an issue.

I know it's overkill but it's better to be safe IMO, plus it saved me bricking my PS3 when installing firmware due to a power cut because it took so long LOL.

Backed up the Xregister, dev_flash3 bd files and dev_hdd0/home files so nothing goes wrong while QA flagging. What is a dehash? Mine is normally from 3.55 OFW to KMEAW. No downgrade!

and is there anything else to backup or write down (console id??) before updating to Rebug 4.30. If yes, how do i do it? Is the console going to be downgrade-able after update?

Lol I didnt back up any of those files before updating from kmeaw.

If you didnt downgrade = no need to dehash.

Just update to rebug 4.30 cfw from XMB update via storage media.
(make sure to verify your downloaded cfw pup using my tool: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=51288 )

      Done

EDIT: yes you can downgrade back to 3.55 using REBUG 999 downgrader pup or Rogero downgrader pup. No hardware needed and no problemo.

Hey guys, sorry for being that guy, but I have a few games on my hdd that I've damaged the disks for. I'm aware that 4.30 will not accept fixed 3.55 eboots, does this mean I will have to manually download the original eboots/files? Or is there some automated way of doing this? Or has this problem been rectified altogether?

      Thanks

Some say the 3.55 eboots work on 4.30 cfw, but for me it didnt.

Just revert to the original untouched eboots (if you had the foresight to back them up ) or update your game from here: http://yifan.lu/psn/ enter the game id (EG: BLES112233), download PKg, instal through IPF, and boot game as normal.

Or let mM update the game for you, click triangle on your game, hit update.

      Done.

My question is "is my ps3 still considered downgraded even after I went from rogero 4.21 to 4.30? I downgraded, dehashed, n updated. I had many problems during that time such as a formatted hdd. I wasn't sure if a new cfw comes if I'm still considered downgraded. (Slim 2001a, 2.xx lowest fw, went from 3.41-3.55-3.55Kmeaw.)

currently in 3.55Kmeaw, is it necessary to go back to 3.55 OFW first or just go straight to Rogero3.40
also, does this format my hdd when updating to rogero4.30 (will i lose any of my games in my internal hdd

First backup the following folders just to be safe:
      dev_hdd0\home
      dev_flash\
      dev_flash2\
      dev_flash3\

and then enable QA flag following this guide

      http://www.ps3hax.net/2013/02/tutori...-3-413-55-cfw/

This is because once you update you cannot enable QA flag so you must do it before updating.

Then follow the instructions on the video on this post and go from 3.55kmeaw to 4.30 Rebug (or Rogero)

Make sure to check the downloaded update file (.pup) with the following checking tool from trusted PS3HAX member.

After installing the standard rebug 4.30-1 CFW, I no longer have the ability to play SACD's.

I have a CECHA01 NTSC 60gb console. Is anyone else having this problem. I would love to listen to my SACD's again.

      -Thank You

      -Edit
Never mind I figured it out. All i had to do was enter retail mode. When in debug mode SACD is disabled.

      hi
i just read somewhere above 3.55 eboots don't work on 4.30. I updated to rog 4.30 few weeks ago and ran a older game that didn't require patched eboots(god of war 3 lol) just to see if things are working fine. I didn't have the time to turn it on again for a while.
So my question is, do games on 4.30 requires no modded/patched eboots? of newer/older games? or does it requires eboots signed with different keys than 3.55 or something like that? will original eboots work?
      Thanks.

umm...what? lol sorry but I haven't been active here for a while. I do visit every now and then, but avoided getting in till some sort of stable CFW release. I guess its time now so yeah, hit me with some info/tuts etc. anything.

edit: app-version? my firmware version showed 4.30 I think last I checked. It wasn't 3.55 thats for sure. whats app-version?

ah for whoever needs it...first always run it to see if things work or use an game update
sometimes it wont move..the old 3.55 stuff and then it needs resigning, specially the ones signed with the older scetool and putting incorrect app-version= 3.55, u can check this on ur own with ScetoolGUI and drop EBOOT.BIN into it to verify

to resign..just make sure u resign a disc eboot as APP and a gameupdate/NPDRM file as NPDRM, for howto's pls check the "resigners", batch scripts etc.. its all there no need to invent the weel again...u learn alot from reading the scripts..

Hey Chris! How to downgrade from 4.30 rebug to 3.55 kmeaw without any hardware! That is what i would like to see. Also add info in the tutorial of how to hash and when must you hash or not and how you can update again(not sure if it is the same method as the current one)!

If you have time Chris you can do a EBOOT.bin resigning tutorial for 3.55 kmeaw and 4.30 rebug.

Ok, I am still having a problem with SACD Playback. I did finally get them to actually show up on the XMB but when I attempt to play them I get a 80029bc1 error. The SACD I am using is Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral:Deluxe Edition. Is anyone else having troubles playing SACD's on Rebug Standard 4.30-1 CFW?

Keep in mind not all PS3's play SACD's

No you have to DEHASH when you downgrade.

To "Dehash the PS3" (Reset the syscon) and have the PS3 back to normal safer mode like any original ( non Downgraded ) PS3
      http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Downg...r#QA_dehashing

Never heard of "hashing" when you update?!

I guess I'm finally ready to make the jump from 3.55 to 4.30. Just one question though. Since I no longer have flasher for my ps3 I would liek to know if anyone could answer this question for me. Once I upgrade to 4.30CFW and then 4.31+ CFW comes out. Will i need a hardware flasher to downgrade back to 3.55 to upgrade to the newer version of a CFW? I don't know if it matters or not but my PS3 slim was originally a pre 3.55OFW. Thanks in advance for any helpful responses.

I was in CFW Kameaw 3.55 and decided to install rebug 4.30.1 . I watched the videos of HolmesInFive , first I Qa flag my ps3 following the instructions of his video on youtube and then I installed CFW rebug 4.30.1 on my ps3 . The problem is that after installing I see a blue screen and if I press the x button, the screen turns black . Is there a way to fix this? I have a phat ps3 model CECHE01 .

edit3: I think I know the reason now, I made the mistake of not going into safe mode , I thought the ps3 was in safe mode, but I was wrong . I did the recovery mode phase without the safe mode . What a stupid mistake -.-

      What am I missing here?

Most of my bu games don't work, I often see error code 80010017 after starting a game.
I also have Multiman 4.19.07 installed, since Multiman seemed to work before Rogero update for most games.

When I am on Multiman, system info shows me to be on 3.55 (SC-36 Hermes)

You cannot install CFW over OFW higher than 3.55.

You cannot jailbreak 300X (slim) or 400X (ultraslim) PS3's AT ALL.

      0% possible.

FYI PS3 ultraslim has a min FW of 4.10.

Dont buy an ultra slim console, dont buy a slim 3K serial console.

If you have a slim 3k/ultra slim 4k: sell it, trade it, buy a hackable model.

      Its the only way.

You need to have a slim (2k or 250X) or an old phat PS3 that is no later than march 2011 manufactured, that has 3.55 on it or has a min fiw praxis of 3.55 or less.

If you get a slim PS3 (that IS hackable) and it has 4.21 OFW on it, you will need a hardware flasher and FSM dongle to open up your PS3, solder/clip on dump NAND/NOR etc etc to downgrade it.

I was connected to a network for just a moment and now while trying to update from 3.55 to 4.30 (w/ QA flagging) the system update requests an update of version 4.40 or higher and while the rebug or rogero installs its followed by a second screen that says file corrupted or error occurred. I can stay on 3.55 just fine without any prompts.
      Suggestions plz?

On the same issue, i have tried to search through the forum and asked for solutions: i have modified from 3.55 to Rogero 4.30 2.5. but there were some games that i could not play and was so frustrated, such as LBP karting, Ghost sniper, MWF2, etc.

I understand some help offered was to do 'resigning'. i am sorry but it was too technical challenged for people like me.

Bros here, any other solution or advice tat i could do??

      Tks

For games that don't work, delete the game data. From the Game Data utility.

Then install the latest game update when prompted.

I also always keep a disc in the drive and load from there, not app/home.

      Hi playerkp420,

done that for one of the games (cant rem which one) and it worked. However, some other games did not have any updates. for MFW2, the games data was only 3KB (which is dubious). Tried this method for the rest of games, didnt work.

Newer games like Farcry 3 and Nino Kuni have no problem at all.

      So frustrating.

What I do is first try the game.
If it doesn't work, I go into the game settings in multiman. click on external (or internal if you have it on the internal). Try the game again.
If it still doesn't work, I go back to game settings and also choose bd mirror. Try the game again.
If it still doesn't work, back to game settings and choose run permissions. Sometimes this can take awhile. Just be patient.
      Then the game will work.

The only time it didn't work after all that, was with Disney's Epic Mickey 2. The BLES version only worked on the internal, for some reason. Once I got the BLUS version it worked from external.

This backup compatibility list helps to figure out what games need special attention.
But I don't think there has been a game yet, that I couldn't get to work on 4.xx CFW.

      Hi,

I have a little problem with updating, so I am hoping you can help me.

I have a Multiman 3.55 firmware, I tried updating using the steps provided in the video, but after the first stage of checking the update and rebooting I get a message "The file is corrupt".
I must say I skipped the QA Flagging part, because you said something that its kind of risky and it is used just for downgrading which I don't need so I thought "There's no need for this then..."

Anyway could it be because I am using Multiman and I need to convert it to some other firmware or do I need to do the QA Flagging part, or is it maybe something else causing the problem.

      Thanks in advance!
