PS3HaX dev $n!pR has released an app to help those of you messing with converting PSP games to a format the PS3 will read, here is a quote from the thread:

Ok so while running batch files is fun and all I decided to make my own tool. This is just an early build I’ve been working on which creates the basic file structure. You still need Adolstools to create the PKG file for now.

Basic howto:

• Browse to ISO, the program will automatically find the CID
• Enter the Title ID you want to use
• Click Make Package
• Right click the folder created and click Make PKG

TODO

• Add option to copy media files from ISO
• Add option to use EBOOT.PBP from PSN
• Make PKG file

Download

New build 1.10 will be posted later

Don’t have time to test it but you can scratch some stuff off the list

Added

• Copies media files from ISO by default
• Make PKG file

TODO

• Add option to use EBOOT.PBP from PSN
• Add option to use custom media files (psn_package_npdrm requires ICON0.PNG)

Updates

A bug I found, installing a game made with your tool then packaged showed a corrupt icon in the xmb but after using a param.sfo from a different game then making the pkg worked fine, awesome tool though, thanks heaps

Did you add an ICON0.png to the folder? First version requires you to add your own media files....Oh and I fixed the param.sfo so it adds the version information in the newest build.

fhi, $n!pR
i tried this with Tony hawks underground 2 [Remix]

You tool converted the iso without any problems/errors to a pkg.

BUT: After the installation on the PS3 (which worked flawless too), i have an error file on my PS3.

To make it more clear. i have 3 folders (if i sort them) Playstation, playstation2 (in which the Ps2 place holder is) and Playstation3 (in which MM, and the PSN games are in),
also there is now a fourth which is named "unknown". In this is now a file/app called "Error files" or "damaged files" (sorry i'm not sure how to translate properly in english) with which i can do nothing, because its damaged...

Do i need to install something like the Ps2 place holder, for PSP Games too?

That's weird, maybe it didn't create the sfo properly. I've add some more commands to the sfo creation process in version 1.20. Hopefully this should fix the issue.

Running version 1.10 here. I browse to my iso, put a name in, the click "Make Package". It goes through the process of converting the .iso to a folder structure in the root of the folder I run the application from, but there's no pkg. What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: It looks like this program doesn't create packages and I have to use ps3tools? How am I supposed to do that? I do have ps3tools installed.

Really the only "extra" thing I did was start it as administrator...then it should fully complete the process

Same here.
PKG creates fine but when installed onto ps3 I get corrupt data icon.
I'm installing the PKG via "Install package Files" from XMB, is that right

Is it somehow possible to play or convert PSP minis (available as CSO) on PS3?

Everybody talks about converting PSP to PS3 but is this also possible with PSP minis? I got dozens of them but no longer play with my PSP so would like to play them on my PS3 instead.

Good call, it worked now. I'll try installing the pkg now and report back.

EDIT: The pkg installed but it showed up as corrupt data. I'll try the new 1.20 version and see if that works.

PSP minis should work no problem. Just convert cso to iso or download and extract the PKG file and use EBOOT.PBP as input file.

Make sure to fully delete the old package off PS3. You may need to rebuild the database too. I was having problems before but hopefully the new build has fixed them.

The game the previously didn't work on 1.10 is now working on 1.20. I'll have to try out some other games too. Thanks!

...Ridge Racer and Castlevania Dracula X (from my PSP so I know they're good) and both with get through package generation and install without the corrupted data icon now, although there's no game background on the xmb any more. I can even launch both and get to the MINIs screen but after that:
Castlevania hangs at a black screen and I never see/hear the game
Ridge Racer fully boots but the cars are missing when I try to select

Maybe it's a region thing, I've had both these (my faves) for so long now I don't remember where I got them. I'm downloading different copies now. Rogero 4.40 1.03 for what it's worth.

Thanks for the progress and hard work, it's appreciated!!

I tried it again, now with the 1.20 Version.

With the new Version it finally recognize the installed pkg (game) as an Mini.
(It even shows the image and name of the game)

BUT: When i start it, the Mini Symbol shows up (even with sounds) but after this, the screen stays black and nothing more happens...
(I needed to shut the ps3 down by keep pressing the stand by button till it shutted down)
btw. the Controller stayed on, the whole time

If you get the mini's screen but then black screens it's probably not compatible. Check the compatibility doc.

Just a side note: For retail packages it will scan and use the full 36 character content id, instead of just the 9 alphanumeric CID.
eg. Instead of using placeholder UP1004-ULUS10160_00-0000000000000001, it'll use UP1004-ULUS10160_00-GTAVICECITYST000
