Well sh@$ got real with GTA this time. If you suffer some kind of injury you will have to deal with it for the rest of the game. I don’t really know to which extent this new permanent body damage works but it’s a nice feature to make GTA5 more “realistic”.
    Battle scars?. Awesome!

    To quote:

More details have been revealed for the upcoming multiplatform video game, “GTA 5,” which is slated to come out for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. According to a report by Behind Games on May 26, the three main characters in the open-world action-adventure title can suffer permanent scars (such as bullet marks) from being wounded.

In “GTA 5,” gamers will be able to play as Franklin, Michael and Trevor. Control of the three main characters can be switched around on the fly, which is a crucial feature during the big bank heists. The sequel is currently in development at Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games upon release. “GTA 5” will be available for the aforementioned Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 current-generation consoles at launch on Sept. 17 in the North American region. You can pre-order the title in the following link: “GTA 5”

Battle scars. I doubt if you crash into some truck you break your spine just to end on a wheelchair for the rest of the game.

      Realistic as is gets.
Game devs experienced and users as well what's a "realistic damage system" is about on Soldier of Fortune.

Seems many people labeled as something which contained "Extreme graphical violence" and since then we see soldiers dancing each time they die on a killcam on COD.
Or when you plant C4 on the back of a soldier on BF3 and the body will stay in one piece.
So it's no "violent enough" plant a C4 on some player back but yeah it's insanity if you shot a soldier on a leg and the friggin leg ends in oblivion.
      Game logic.

Now it's all about "raw" power and a ****ing cloud system.

at the idea if you lose and arm or leg in game within seconds of starting the game you are disabled for the entirety of the game... that's amazing.

I'm gonna go ahead and give you an 'a' and a 'd' there, buddy. See if you can make a word with that 'n' of yours. :P

I agree with you about the gameplay being a lot better with the previous generation.

Now obviously they are not going to make it so it makes the game ****ty if you get "disabled" but more less just a small reminder... Today developers are trying to make more of a connection/bond between you and your character. And this would be a prime example of the things they are doing to accomplish that. I think this is a great idea and im confident that they will balance it just right. Cmon guys, this is GTA were talking about here. I don't know about you but this game has NEVER disappointed me (on consoles, handhelds are a different thing)...

this is a stupid idea, imagine having a broken leg throughout the whole game, it was bad enough in virtua tennis 4, but in gta 5? that is just stupid, how the hell are you supposed to run away from cops? what about having FUN in a gta game? now it's all about realism, way too much realism, i cringed when i heard way back (rumour) that cars that you get in gta 5 need fuel good thing that hasn't come about YET.

If you give end user so much freedom eventually he/she ends bored to death.
Though i respect GTA i doubt that half of people that actually bought it (GTA 4) started with the campaing, im 100% sure that they started some random riot or some freeway just to test "game mechanics" when it's way funnier steal a car, kill random people, switch radio stations, kill again, kill yourself going full speed into a Gas station.

I mean at least me after almost an hour of doing that, started actually some game missions.
But eventually as i said above, anyone will get bored at that.
So if now the cars need gas and you have a damage system is a way to "force" you to enjoy the ride (Argument) without maybe the chance of enjoy a free roaming without getting chased by police/swat/etc and with a high chance of run out of gas quickly or just get killed in a more "realistic" way to avoid so much free roam.

      Agreed.

Because to realistic at that time, Shen Mue flopped. Well partly because it's released on Dreamcast but it still not that fun IMO.
      Its boring.

Bullet injuries may sometimes leave marks on the body and these are permanent ones, so as you play the game you may see the main protagonists changing a little bit.
      Makes sense. Still a rumour...but..
