PS3HaX member M.H.A.Q.S., has been working on a cloud storage application for the PS3 for a little while now, today he released PS3 Cloud Drive, here is a quote from the developers website:

photo PIC12-680x382_zps10d65c47.png

It was at the end of last year that I posted this. It really took me away from gaming on the ps3 for a while. Earlier this year, I searched for a ps3 app that would sync a user’s game-saves to the cloud. I didn’t care which service was it, as long as it was free and easy to use. Unfortunately, apart from Sony’s PS Plus service, there was no application/home-brew that accomplished this task. But I did find this. A user named “gingerbread” on the ps3hax forums had this idea about a “Dropbox” app that could work like a game-save synchronization application for the PS3.

I decided to take a shot at it and although the development went slow for several reasons, I eventually finished the first set of features I planned for. The application is called “Playstation 3 – Cloud Drive”. You can install this application on a ps3 running a custom firmware. This app is programmed using “PSL1GHT” open source SDK and it was a pretty good experience working on the ps3 overall. Anyhow, here’s more information about the app itself:

Current Features:

• The application works with Google Drive. You will need a Google account to use it.
• Google Drive comes with 15GB of free space compared to PS Plus’s 1GB.
• Remote Authorization through “OAuth 2 for Devices” does not need you to give application any of your personal information.
• Bi-Directional Sync is possible. The application will sync your saves to the cloud and will download them to your hard drive.
• Resume support is present and you can quit the application any time you want. The app will pick up from where it left off.
• Resumable uploads and partial responses are supported.
• Save Revision and pinning/sticky support.
• Save Difference and update will only sync data that has changed to cut bandwidth usage.
• gzip compression for faster transfers. This is to save bandwidth on those ridiculously big “replays” and saves from some games.

I fully agree, Thank you to everyone who works behind the scenes. It is stuff like this, That gives me hope that there will be more homebrew coming and it isn't all about piracy.

That would be cool, But one step at a time. This scene has a habit of having big dreams and then coming up short. See the unreleased Nintendo DS and Nintendo 64 emulators, Now that is saying if they even coded one single line. But people dream too big sometimes.

I don't understand what would be the use of this application. Let's say I want to format my PS3. I use the app to save my game saves to cloud. I restore the PS3 to factory settings and sync back my saves from the cloud to a new created user. The PS3 system will tell me that those are not my saves. So I will not be able to progress further from those save points. I know that the saves are signed with some kind of user ID. I know that there is a tool to resign them, but I takes much time to do it, especially when you have many saves. So.....? Maybe if this app would have the resigning part automatically done for every save that is downloaded from cloud, then it would be great, but until then I don't understand what would be the use of this app.

Its just you have a habit of not doing "via" often, but that's a minor thing and i was just being picky, I shouldn't have added that part, I'd edit it, but my computers are off and I'm on the toilet pushing out a few harryokes, using my tablet which doesn't seem to agree with WordPress.

Theoretically this is how it will work.

1. You have PS3 Could Drive Installed and setup
2. You sync your PS3 saves to Google Drive
3. You install Google Drive on your PC.
4. You point Bruteforce Save Data to that Google Drive folder on your PC
5. BAM! The loop is complete.

Even if your PS3 is reformatted, as long you have your profile information, you are safe. You can resign your save to any profile. GD will synchronise the changes to the cloud. PS3 Could Drive will pull down from the cloud.

If you were to do that format your drive & upload your saves before hand .It is quite simple really. I don't see why the confusion ,or needing to resign saves? After formatting or restoring factory settings, etc Create the exact same name you had user 1 / user 2, etc the same way you had it & your saves will work.

You can use 1 set of saves across endless PS3s, as long as you have the same user names on each PS3, starting from top account to bottom exactly the same names. With that said, you can upload your saves if you needed to & download them to another or same PS3 after reformatting & creating the same user names or to another PS3 that has the same users. The PS3 will not say anything about the saves. I have 5 PS3s & copy all my saves from my OFW to my CFW ,to OFW.

About the app i think it is a great idea & would be cool. People can already store & download packages from there own created account like mediafire or other Filehosts that are accessible through the PS3 browser. As long as you have them in package format, they can be downloaded through the PS3 browser easy & could also use multiman to extract a rar if needed to install a package.

I do this when new HB is released instead of messing with PC ,just fire up the PS3 go to PSSHAX & click on download link & save to PS3 external or a USB flash drive. I have downloaded from storebrewoligy also right to my external, then go to install package files & install what i want, since the packages i downloaded will be on my external & will show up in install package files.

If your really into modding saves or using other peoples saves ,rebugs fake save data owner could come in handy & just use that all the time for those who don't like to resign saves..

Great idea!! Not complaining but I'd prefer dropbox and box compatibility, as opposed to G-drive since I have over 50GB of storage with each of them. Still a wonderful idea though, nonetheless

Are you sure? Creating the same user, even formatted for some reason gets me to account 000002 as opposed to 0000001. Does that not change the way the save is recognized in the profile? I mean it's not a big deal I can resign them. :P

Did you ever delete your main user before? If so that is why your main user/s can change to 0000002 , being your second user took the main user slot ,or doing a data transfer can also change the number depending how many transfers you do. Reformat your PS3 drive with PC, if the PS3 will not do a clean wipe / reset the account counter. It will work if you create the user you had before. If you format on PC you will get a clean drive & new user starting with 00000001 ,if that is what your user was before then reformat than make the same exact log in name you had before & it will work.

If you user was 000002 then make the first user whatever then the second user the proper log in user name .By log in name i mean when the PS3 boots & you choose your user not anything to do with PSN name..No need to resign if you dony have 800GB like i do on the PS3 & can do a format ,then it is easy if you have a universal USB to SATA connection cable or adapter or docking station that supports 3.5/3.5 SATA drives ,delete drive from PC reformat FAT32 ,insert in PSN it will format it again & the users will be reset. You should be able to get the user number you had through xReg.sys ,if you have the xReg.sys backed up before you did a format, or get it through a save game.

I have almost 700 games on 1 slim & that would be one hellish time resigning that many saves .That is why when i bought a new PS3, i named all my users exact from the very start & works like a beauty, as my PS3 log in user & PSN accounts all match on 5 PS3s & is very convenient when switching to my other PS3.

Thanks for the tip! I have a 1tb drive, the problem was when I was on 3.55 and experienced a crash it would format the drive as opposed to what it does with later firmware and repairs the filesystem. I obviously don't have that problem anymore but it did annoy the hell out of me lol

I have updated the app to version 1.1.7, which now includes PSX/PS2 memory card support. There's a lot of internal changes to the application for other reasons and some visual useful changes like local progress bar for file transfers.

Report any bugs directly on my blog or here.

Actually, you can resign before your sync Down back to your PS3.

If you have Google Drive installed on your PC, Google concurrently sync down to your PC. Once that is down, you use BSD to Resign all your save. Google Drive (PC) will take note of the changes and Sync UP to Google Drive (Cloud). Now you use PS3 Cloud Drive to sync down your saves back to your PS3. Is is not that difficult.

You would say, that is a lot of steps. But actually it is not. M.H.A.Q.S. could add resign feature in his app but in terms of Save Modding/Resigning BSD offers tons more. Did I mention PS3 Save Portal?

PS3 Save Portal + BSD + PS3 Cloud Drive = ULTRA COMBO

Selective Sync and Multi User Account supports should be high priority.

I've already laid down the framework to support Selective Sync and save resigning. I just need some help setting up EFL by Kakaroto. Once I have a UI, all of the features currently supported in BSD using flatz's tools will be present in future releases of PS3CloudDrive. This also includes core support for PS3 Save Portal. Cheating is something I might never work on though.
