PS3 Dev Mysis has released a plugin for the PS3, which gives us something that Sony couldn’t/wouldn’t, the ability to listen our own music whilst we play our games, here is a quote from the readme:

“Do you have an idea for how to improve the Playstation experience?”

    - quote Playstation.Blog.Share

    http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/ideas/2010/03/17/all-game-titles-on-psn-should-have-screenshots/

    http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/ideas/2010/03/17/in-game-music-for-all-titles/

    How to:

    1) Compile yourself the PRX / or use the sample in debug folder
    2) Add it to mylist.txt in PRXLOADER
    3) Start PRXLOADER, if successfully loaded you’ll get a notification in XMB: “PRX got loaded.”
    4) Start your game, press the PS-Button to see “XMB In-game”
    5) Press SELECT for around 2-3 seconds to enable Screenshots+BGM Playback (you’ll get notificed once enabled)
    6) have fun taking Screenshots and listening to your own music while gaming!

“Save Screenshot” becomes visible in XMB “Photo”-Column
Select your MP3 files from “Music”-Column for playback.

    How it works:

“getNIDfunc” here gets required OPDs/Exports from VSH and makes them callable from our PRX.
No need for VSH patches anymore (and its kind of generic in firmware version, supported PRXLoader versions)
    No need for a lib
    Source included :-)

    Note:

You can contribute as well, any info about Exports/Procs of VSH would help alot - just as syscall table.

PS3HaX member  3141card (if Pirate would give me the right privileges, it would say Homebrew Dev) has released a Proof Of Concept plugin for the PS3, here is some information:

I found a way for blitting informations on the XMB screen, it is not perfect atm and work only in main XMB, not ingame.
I found some bitmap-data in main ram, and poke other RGBA values on this place. I make a simple framebuffer, print text
in him and poke him on the screen. The example have only a blue background and white text, but more complex things
are posible, inclusive nice interaktive GUIs.

This time is not about some nutcase violence scenario. China decided to ban Battlefiled 4 over “National Security” reasons.
Seems that latest expansion pack *China Rising* was way too graphic enough to consider it a danger. Mere speculation from my side. I doubt this a P.R Stunt.

    To quote:

The Chinese government has banned Battlefield 4 in the country following the release of the China Rising expansion, the Wall Street Journal reports. The game was banned over “national security” reasons.

EA declined to comment when contacted by the Wall Street Journal. We have also reached out to EA and will update this post accordingly.

The Battlefield 4 single-player campaign takes place during 2020, when a Chinese admiral initiates a plan to overthrow the government. The China Rising expansion features a variety of new maps, vehicles and an additional gametype, all set on the Chinese mainland.

Rudi Rastelli has released an update for PS3 ISO Tools. If your not familiar, PS3 ISO Tools allows you to convert/extract/rename/join/split/patch PS3 ISO files.

    PS3 ISO TOOLS V1.2B
    * by Rudi Rastelli *

    Credits:

    • @Estwald for “makeps3iso”, “extractps3iso” and “patchps3iso”
    • @aldostools for game-name/game-id database *

    Description:

“PS3 ISO TOOLS” is an all-in-one tool for a complete PS3-ISO handling and contains:

    • ISO-Generator to convert PS3-Folder-Format-Games 2 PS3-ISO-Format-Games (splitted big-files will be joined)
    • ISO-Extractor to convert PS3-ISO-Format-Games 2 PS3-Folder-Format-Games (big-files will be optionaly splitted)
    • ISO-Splitter to split single PS3-ISOs for use on a FAT32 device (“*.iso.0″, “*.iso.1″, …etc)
    • ISO-Joiner to join splitted PS3-ISOs into single PS3-ISOs
    • ISO-Renamer to rename single or splitted PS3-ISOs according to a game-name/game-id database and
    • to hide/un-hide parts of splitted ISOs (“*.iso.1″, “*.iso.2″, …etc)
    • ISO-Patcher to patch single or splitted PS3-ISOs to a lower firmware version (down to 4.21)

    Usage:
    Pretty self-explanatory… read the tool-tips

    Notes:

    • You can batch-convert all of your PS3-Folder-Format-Games, when you select your game-archive as source-folder(eg “X:GAMES” or “X:GAMESZ”)
    • All other tools, with the exception of ISO-Patcher, support batch-operation as well. Just multi-select the ISOs you like to process.
    • ISO-names will NOT contain special ASCII-characters 0-31, 126-255 and also NOT /:*?”<>| … This is to avoid problems with webMAN

    Tips:

    • While converting to ISO-format “PARAM.SFO” and “ICON0.PNG”(Game-Icon) will be placed (hidden) as “[ISO-name].SFO” and “[ISO-name].PNG” at target-folder.
    • If you use webMAN copy these 2 files(per game) to “/dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp/”. This will save you the effort to mount each game at least once to make webMAN display it’s game-icon.

    Download:

    • Zippyshare - download

    Don't kill me, dave.

Well i have to *Speed-post* due some heavy power outages in my area.
Sony decided to drop online play for GT5 and Resistance trilogy in 2014. Why?, well you can use any kind of conjecture you like.
Pulling the plug in Janauray of 2014 of MAG and SOCOM: Special Forces/Confrontation.

    What you think?.

Gran Turismo 5 and the Resistance franchise will be pulling the online plug in early 2014. Sony has announced that Gran Turismo 5 will conclude its online features on May 20, 2014, with the Resistance franchise on PlayStation 3 following on March 28.

Also, as of January 28, 2014, the online connectivity of MAGSOCOM: Special Forces andSOCOM: Confrontation will also cease to be. Since MAG and SOCOM: Confrontation are online only, we hope you enjoy your new coasters.

Total_Noob released TN-V4 three days ago and has just released TN-V5, here is the Changelog:

    [Changelog]
    * Added ‘Plugins installer’ to recovery menu (Plugins -> Plugins installer ->).
    * Added option to hide non-working items in XMB (these items will be hidden: Character Set,
UMD Auto-Start, USB Auto Connect, Format Memory Stick, Power Save Settings, Network Settings and Remote Play).
    * Added option to hide the volume bar in the home menu.
    * Fixed bug that made some ISO’s showing as corrupt.
    * Fixed plugin loading crash.
    * Fixed autorun feature (also corrected its filename in recovery menu).
    * Fixed the sleep-timer in music player. It’s cool, because the Vita’s music player doesn’t have this feature.
    * Improved ‘Install Addon’ feature. Kxploit’ed homebrews, aka 1.50 homebrews can now be installed correctly.
ZIP’s which do not contain EBOOT.PBP don’t create corrupt icons anymore.
    * Improved system stability. Hopefully there are no issues with FTP app and no blue screen of death anymore.
    * Renamed ‘Hide CFW folders’ to ‘Allow anti-CFW games’. People who play DJMAX game should enable this.

If you have TN-V4, you can download it directly from inside the eCFW itself on the PS Vita, if you haven’t installed it yet, then grab it from Hackinformers website:
    http://hackinformer.com/TN-V/release_tnv5.rar

You can read more about this new release, on Wololo’s website here.

So 300 prototype Steam Machines at this moment are being tested, etc. One youtuber recorded unboxing. (Lucky guy)

    To quote:

300 prototype Steam Machines have been sent out to beta testers, and one lucky tester has already posted a video of his early experience with the living-room machine.

Corey Nelson was one of those who received a unit and posted an unboxing video on YouTube. Nelson also posted videos showing off the system booting and another looking at the controller.

Valve will offer further information about a full launch for the Steam Machines in January at CES.
