Is it really that hard to replace the HDD?

Technically its not hard at all. But there are some things people should watch out for before upgrading... Most notably is making sure to use the correct/full update .PUP file or knowing what to backup & how just in case they only play locally and do not have a PS+ subscription for online backup. Putting everything in one video should help people looking for some guidance on how to upgrade without making any mistakes.

Rather than make me watch the video... can someone who has watched it already tell me whether it's possible to migrate to a larger drive using a disk cloning tool? I'm doubtful that the PS4 will automatically fix the file system to fit the larger capacity, but I don't know for sure.

The video wont show you if that is possible or not.
Though a warning on the PS4 may be retreived using specialist tools.

Not sure if that mean it can be cloned or not, best way to find out is by trying

I am more curious to see if there were any tests done with an SSD drive. If so what drive, how well did performance improve, if at all. Bench tests if possible. Thanks for tut.

Thanks for that: sorry should have just searched it up, didn't think it would have been out yet, have not been on the site for a while. Appreciate the assist.

So you have to download all the other stuff again, after upgrading the HDD. That sux, especially since the game data is so big.

In addition to the other link... check out this link that has some actual footage of all 3 drive types in action running thru the same tests. http://www.tested.com/tech/gaming/45...-hybrid-drive/

      Thank you!

Kanji actually. I have one down my side as well, at the arm pit is no fun.

Yes, unfortunately. There is no menu option to backup installed game data like the backup util from the PS3. The only thing possible to backup is the saved game data. Even the safe boot/recovery menu does not have an option. Hopefully there will be an update that allows this.

Sony should just enable "migrate to other PS4" and "Backup/Restore" features just like how it was on the PS3 (minus the lame DRM - heh, a man can dream)

Does the PS4 still have the 1TB internal cap, like the PS3? Thanks
