    Aldostools continues to bring updates to IrisMan. This latest version brings new background modes, and a few small fixes.

    Changelog:

    IRISMAN 2.93-9: [MAR/17/14]
    New background mode that auto-displays the PIC1.PNG of the selected game.
    The settings.ini now is not replaced when the manager is updated. The default settings are now stored in settings_default.ini
    Added option to hide the Sort Mode label displayed at the bottom of the Coverflow

    In this version, the PIC1.PNG is allowed to be displayed for NTFS (ISO) games. If you experience any freeze issue, change the ShowPIC1 to 2 in settings.ini (e.g ShowPIC1 = 2)

    Please report back if I have to revert the option to the previous default: ShowPIC1 = 1

    IRISMAN v2.93-8: [MAR/11/14]

    Added support for .VM1 / .cfg saved in the same folder of the PSX isos stored in /PSXISO and /ps1_iso folders (previously they were using a common file for all isos)
    Removed the annoying “PSX Options Saved” message when saving a memory card option.
    More bug fixes for the cached game list.
    Fixed display of covers for PSXISOs.

    The source code does not correspond to the changelogs… it also happens with their Iris fork.

    Here is a simple example:
    “When the covers are not present in webman gamesonic manager is present and the console will cover from the cover of gamesonic manager.”

    Now open the source code and do a search for “GMAN” which is the TITLEID of Gamesonic Manager. You won’t find it.

    Now check this code… it doesn’t do what they claim.

    COD players on PS3/PS4 being *targeted*, as you may notice we may have another *Call of duty Blacks Ops 2, ban wave* situation here. Those round of bans seem to target PS3 and PS4 users primarily, source stated.
    Activision decided to show their face to face those complaints of Angry banned gamers. Saying that this those ban waves have been places on casual players *who only put a few hours into the game, each week*, oddly enough they clame that they have a history of hacking or cheats.

    tcsdaniels (COD gamer) spout his venon over COD ghosts official board. Which got a perma banned without doing *nothing* just turning off his PS3. (lol)
    So even if this player got banned by mistake, Activision replied the following:

    “All bans are final and will not be reversed. Nor do we provide any additional information or specifics in regards to the ban.”

    Long story short, they owned a poor guy and ended with a perma-ban. While he/she stated that he was not hacking nor cheating.
    Strange?, nah. Actision being a douchebag yet again.

    Funny though, main target are PS3/PS4 users….

    To quote:

    Call of Duty: Ghosts developer Infinity Ward appears to have enacted a widespread round of bans that seem to target PS3 and PS4 users primarily. Activision has responded to complaints that the bans have been placed on casual players who only put a few hours into the game each week, and claim to have no history of hacking or cheats.

    Over on the Call of Duty: Ghosts forum, user tcsdaniels wrote, “I was playing COD Ghosts with my son and after a few rounds of domination I took a break and when I returned to play few more rounds with him my account was banned. He continued to play under his account until he wanted to take a break. He turned off our PS3 and when we went back on about an hour or so later to see if my account was an error or something low and behold an error appeared on both our accounts, now stating our console is permanently banned.”

    He added, “If we got banned for simply playing in a hacked or cheated lobby (not knowing it was hacked or whatever) then that is not right and concludes that a thorough investigation is NOT conducted prior to a player and/or their console getting banned.

    “I hope infinity ward makes this right soon, we have been very loyal customers (FOLLOWING ALL THE RULeS) If we are not thoroughly investigated we will be sending weekly letters to Activision and infinity ward to please investigate our accounts and console.”

    This Reddit user also posted a complaint that echoed the sentiment above. The user claims to be a casual player with no past discrepancies on his account.

    Activision posted a response to the Reddit post that stated, “bans are put in place after an account has been investigated into. Any code of conduct violations WILL result in a ban. The user is responsible for all actions taken on the account.

    “All bans are final and will not be reversed. Nor do we provide any additional information or specifics in regards to the ban.”

    Big news, now you can turn OFF multiplayer to avoid messing up your single player experience. Since another player can sneak into the game, you can choose to hunt him down (steal his Iphone..) killing him or just letting him get away with your data. (money).
    To be honest, i don’t know what really happened to this game since that E3 last year, changed so much in terms of aesthetics. That i lost all the hype.
    But well, if you are interested enough. You have this cool feature, you don’t like the MP. You can turn it off anytime you want.

    To quote:

    A stealthy technological tug-of-war sounds nice and all but how are you supposed to get anything done in Watch Dogs when your friends are constantly dropping by to jack your bank account? Don’t worry: The multiplayer action can be turned off any time.

    “All the online activities are just part of the menu,” said Danny Belanger, Watch Dogs‘ game designer, during a Friday event on Twitch, as reported by Polygon. “They’re a choice. But if someone is not into that… they can totally turn it off.”

    Ubisoft takes a distinctly Dark Souls-style approach to multiplayer in Watch Dogs. While you’re playing as Aiden Pearce, doling out vigilante justice on the streets of Chicago, another player can sneak into the game. It’s your job to hunt the intruder down in the anonymous masses and hack their phone before they do they same to you.

    Watch Dogs is already layered with distractions. During a recent preview event, Joystiq found that the sheer number of side missions and mini-games in the anticipated PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title obscured the drama in the main storyline. Maintaing that “vigilante obsessed with atonement” atmosphere is hard when you’re always pausing to collect golden coins. If real people were constantly dropping into your game it would be even harder, so it’s smart of Ubisoft to make these multiplayer components optional for players of varying tastes.

    First, i will apologize for my low news content. Still having some BIG (Capital letters) issues in my Country. So i hope this situation get fixed soon.
    Now to the news.

    ============================

    Blake Jorgensen (EA) said that no one was prepared for such GTA 5 success, he literally said that GTA 5 “sucked dollars” out of Xbox/360 and PS3 market.  I sense that Blake is kinda butthurt by this, thus GTA V was released for this now called *old-gen* and managed to *suck* more money than they thought. Rockstar played this very well, they gave those *old-gen* consoles and developers as well some nice vulgar display of how using *spare parts* properly, studios still can make a game that feels like *next-gen* without the need of new technologies.

    To quote:

    The release of Grand Theft Auto V in September 2013 was so incredibly successful that its arrival “sucked dollars” out of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 market overall, according to Electronic Arts chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen.

    “I don’t think anyone anticipated the level of that success,” Jorgensen said during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media &, Telecom Conference in San Francisco. “Fabulous, fabulous product and [it] did extremely well. It did, I think, suck dollars out of the old-generation software market.”

    “We expect that market to be challenged just because of the transitions to the new generation and I think it was extra-challenged based on that release,” he added. “As reminder, [Rockstar Games] moved that release from the spring to the fall, so it even changed our expectations again as it got moved.”

    What he means is that GTAV was so dominating on Xbox 360 and PS3 (it has shipped over 32.5 million copies to date) that gamers spent their money on Rockstar’s title instead of other Xbox 360 or PS3 games. It appears this had a real impact on EA’s bottom line, as the publisher reported in January that it had lowered its full-year net revenue expectations due to “weakness in current-generation software.”

    However, GTAV’s record-setting release was not disastrous for publishers like EA, however, as Battlefield 4 has sold very well since launch, Jorgensen said during the talk.

    Next Batman game won’t be released on PS3 nor Xbox360. Rocksteady (Studios) the ones behind this whole franchise, except *Origins*. Stated that they want to *make a real, genuine next-gen game*.
    Game director Sefton hill, explained why and short answer is push the limits of those next-gen consoles.
    Got to admit that when i saw the trailer, i was like *Meh more CGI sh!th* but then when i checked for some articles explaining why. Finally understood what’s the motive behind this no-release for current-gen consoles.
    They will use a custom modified (tweaked) Unreal Engine, though.
    Also what caught my attention was the following = The Batmobile itself uses 160MB of memory. (ohhhhhh now makes sense…lol)

    This is clear message that they don’t want to keep pushing *old-gen* and bet to this *new-gen*. Closer than a computer gaming rig than a Console.

    To quote:

    Batman: Arkham Knight is not in development for Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, Rocksteady has confirmed, telling Game Informer that going next-gen only allowed it to be “more ambitious with the design and make a real, genuine next-gen game”.

    “It’s not a challenge to move to next-gen,” explained game director Sefton Hill. “The real challenge is making sure you’re getting the best out of the machines. It’s easy to get the game running, but it’s about, ‘What can we do that really pushes those machines?’ Obviously you see a lot of games that are cross-gen, and they feel a bit reined in because of that. Because we were able to make that decision quite early, we were able to be more ambitious with the design and make a real, genuine next-gen game.”

    Despite the game being exclusive to PS4, Xbox One and PC, though, Arkham Knight doesn’t appear to be making use of Epic’s next-gen engine Unreal Engine 4.

    Instead, it’s being built on a “juiced-up version of Rocksteady’s custom modified Unreal engine”, suggesting that the game may be sticking with the earlier games’ Unreal Engine 3.

    Nevertheless, the game still appears to be pushing the power of next-gen consoles, with a single character used within the game’s cinematics rendered with a similar polygon count to that of Arkham Asylum’s entire environment.

    The Batmobile itself uses 160MB of memory, too, thanks to its “very expensive shaders and textures” and the “hundreds of thousands of polygons” used to build it. The world of Gotham City is said to be five times larger than that of Arkham City, too.

    “Our lead engine coder was saying the other day that, when you switch to next-gen only, rather than saying ‘no’ to our artists and designers a lot he can now just say ‘yes’,” studio director Jamie Walker added. “That’s what the horsepower of next-gen enables us to do.”

    Batman: Arkham Knight launches on Xbox One, PS4 and PC later this year.

    wborland has updated PS3 Game List to v3.1. PS3 Game List is a PC file manager for PS3.

    This new addition brings huge bug fixes and overall improvements.

    Yet another revision bringing PS3 Game List to v3.1. As mentioned before, the main goal was to work on the application engine so it could better accommodate upcoming changes. Roughly, it means tons of fixes, and game data loading up to 80% faster.

    This version implements a new feature: UDF (ISO 13346) file system support. In addition to loading ISO 9660 files, users can both create and load UDF 2.50 ISO images of their game folders. PS3GL now supports loading split ISO images as well.

    Moreover, the app now fully supports Unicode characters in game folders (finally no more errors while loading data or mass renaming).

    Check the changelog below for all the 3.0 features.

    As usual, feel free to suggest something new, and, if you happen to find any bugs, please report them as well.
    PS3 Game List change-log and features:

    v3.1

    Improved application engine (game data will load up to 80% faster);
    UDF (ISO 13346) file system image support (users can both create and load UDF 2.50 ISO images of games in their library; data stored as an ISO image will not be editable; an icon will overlay both avatar and background image in order to differentiate the entry from standard game folders, and the tooltip will display additional info about the volume; note that ISO images do not follow the ‘folder depth’ configuration, just have them stored at the root of a directory and they will be loaded as a regular game folder);
    Support for loading split ISO images (e.g.: filename.iso.0, filename.iso.1, etc.);
    Support for Unicode characters in game folders;
    Fixed issue that prevented displaying trophies from ISO images;
    Fixed bug that prevented opening folders in explorer;
    Fixed bug while extracting trophy data;
    Fixed bug while joining split files;
    Fixed drive status issue;
    Fixed image replacing issue.

    Recently it was revealed that the GCHQ with the help of the NSA, gathered images from the webcam chats of Yahoo users, here is a small quote about that:

     photo kinect_size_10_zps1d69ea5b.jpg

    In one six-month period in 2008 alone, the agency collected webcam imagery – including substantial quantities of sexually explicit communications – from more than 1.8 million Yahoo user accounts globally.

    In the same article, it is revealed that the NSA planned to do the same on Xbox 360 users who used the kinect, here is a quote:

    While the documents do not detail efforts as widescale as those against Yahoo users, one presentation discusses with interest the potential and capabilities of the Xbox 360′s Kinect camera, saying it generated “fairly normal webcam traffic” and was being evaluated as part of a wider program.

    Documents previously revealed in the Guardian showed the NSA were exploring the video capabilities of game consoles for surveillance purposes.

    Microsoft, the maker of Xbox, faced a privacy backlash last year when details emerged that the camera bundled with its new console, the Xbox One, would be always-on by default.
