Quickly after the release of 2.4 a few days ago, KW has released another update for PSNPatcher. This latest update brings a semi-perma OFW mode for Cobra users, and added PS2emu swapping for Habib 4.55 CFW.

[ v2.45] MAR/09/2014

New semi-permanent “OFW mode” for Cobra.
Added PS2emu (iso/classics) swapping for Habib 4.55.
“Cobra menu” is now “Cobra TOOLBOX”
Some shortcut were remapped to accommodate new functions

[ v2.41, 2.40, 2.30]

Disables dev_habib (writeable flash) mounting at start-up in cobra 4.55 (install new stealth extension to use);
Version spoofing configuration moved into psnpatch.cfg file (where it should always have been) - see default.cfg and read documentation;
(psnpatch should be able to automatically update psnpatch.cfg file and remove old cobra_version.txt)
Updated “CFW Disabled” message in psnpatch cobra plugin to inform if using “normal mode” or “stealth extensions”.
Added support for HABIB Cobra 4.55.
New stealth extensions for Cobra 4.55.
Version spoofing for cobra 4.55 (spoofs any future firmware version).
When spoofing version in cobra 4.53, stealth extensions are automatically activated.
When removing stealth extensions in 4.53, version spoofing is automatically disabled.

Wow!!

Can someone test this on Habib Cobra 4.55?

Can I just install CFW and run this, avoiding needing to change files myself?

Also do the PS3 controller buttons work OK without a cable when playing ISO's?

psxpetey This is one of the tools available that are suppose to lower the chance of getting banned while playing online with a system with modified firmware. It'll spoof your firmware to 4.55 from whatever firmware your on, as well as disable some of the more obvious signs you are on a modified firmware (lv1/lv2 access, mount points, logs, etc.) However, I'm not sure if this addresses the changes Sony made to syscall 870 (int sys_ss_get_console_id(uint8_t *buf) //basically calling your IDPS) in firmware 4.55. It also adds some functionality to PS2 ISO support.

Just keep in mind that while it may lessen any ban risk, the risk is still there, especially if you play on some of the higher risk games.

Im not a big online player but eventually ill be moving to ps4 and getting rid of my non modded ps3 so im trying to figure out ways to keep from getting banned until then. I wonder how well this would work for netflix and maybe a couple of downloads. I dont really play high risk games like COD or blackops. I guess the only problem with this addon is it also takes away some features like lv1/lv2. Maybe ill wait a bit longer. I hear if your on debug firmware that your chances of getting banned are also lessened is that true? I guess ill have to ask a question in the jailbreak section lol.

Well, with some of the tools you can mount the game with multiman, than run the tool to disable system calls and such, so you can still play your backups.

As for Netflix, if you change your NP environment to invalid in debug settings, Netflix will think PSN is down and let ya access Netflix without being signed into PSN. I've done that for years without an issue.

I've also read that dex boxes have a lower ban risk, but that doesn't make any sense to me. A dex box, especially since we aren't doing a full conversion, and we can only change the target ID in one spot (other spot is encrypted). You would think a dex box has even more flags than a traditional box on custom firmware.

However, I've also seen posts lately suggesting they're starting to ban more dex users, so who knows?

This would become a problem only if you have changed your original PSID ?

@arcadekidfloThat is what I thought, but I believe this, and SEN Enabler, have patched the IDPS in EID0 and EID5 for quite some time, so I'm not entirely sure on the check. I haven't had much time to investigate it further (should be simple to load it up in IDA, compared to 4.50). It's a simple LV2 system check to pull your IDPS info, I would probably need to find the appropriate response to it (whether it wants the actual IDPS, or IDPS based some seed, who knows) The one downside a guy I work suggested was he thinks he sees an option on how he could modify systemcall 870 to mimic the check SEN does on our consoles, but instead its querying the requests of IDPS back to the user . He thought anyway it'd be a real simple entery level spot to use sony's security checks for our own benefit (although stealing others IDPS is not a good idea.

I just got banned. How do I get a new console ID? Do I need a new ID with the psn patch?
