Now this is an interesting rumor that is coming around. The Lizard squad is claiming that they have jailbroken the PS4, and they plan to release the JB sometime in 2015. They claim to found a bug in FW 2.03 that allowed them to access PS4 OS.

Reports and rumours indicate that Lizard Squad have allegedly managed to make a PlayStation 4 jailbreak and they are going to release the same to all users in 2015.

Kdramastars states that Lizard Squad have allegedly successfully jailbroken the PlayStation 4 and now are going to go public with the same.

The base of the rumour is that during the Lizard Squads DDoSing of Xbox Live and PS4 in Chritsmas holidays,  Cyberland said that the Lizard Squad hacker group was reportedly able to find a security flaw in the latest 2.03 firmware of the PlayStation 4 which allowed them to look into the root files of PS4’s OS and modify it to run their own code. The Cyberland also notes that Lizard Squad took their code from the previous PS4 jailbreak hack made by “Reckz0r”. Cyberland stated that the new code would allow users to run ISO copies of Playstation 4 games without any authentication.

Graham Cluley of grahamcluley.com had reported way back in November 2013 that a hacker called Reckz0r has published what appears to be a way to jailbreak the new PlayStation 4 to play pirated games. Reckz0r has published a tutorial on how to jailbreak the PS4, which makes use of Orbis OS (as it is based on FreeBSD, an open source OS). Rumours have it that the Lizard Squad seems to have sourced the PS4 jailbreak code from Reckzor.

Kdramastars also states that a member of the unknown member Lizard Squad made a post on 4Chan stating that the chip they used to find the security flaw in the PS4 would be available for everyone to try this 2015. The website adds that, the member also said that they have included their Jailbreak hack method in the chip that allegedly allows the user to play pirated games and to go online without the need for PS Plus.

Kdramastars says that the hack allegedly allows the users to update their games via PSN for free and are also able to play cracked DLC content for a specific game.

It is to be noted that the above has not been confirmed news by any independent news sources.  The highly vocal and publicity hungry Lizard Squad have also said nothing in this regard.  Further since the release of source code by Reckzor as identified by Graham Cluely way back in November 2013, the same has never been used publicly nor has there been news of anybody exploiting the PSN with the same.

Kdramastars is a news website catering to Chinese and Japanese users.

Yeps this is true. For Sony Firmware Updates are no longer to add more features, its to remove the previous ones.
Just like they did with PS3 by removing linux, they are going to do it with PS Vita. In the coming march update users will lose access to youtube and map app on their Vita’s.

    Via gameranx
As a fan has pointed out, this coincides with Google itself shifting from YouTube API v2 to v3. Sony had more than enough time to have their apps updated, with over a year since they announced they would end support for the API. Google revealed that they would be dropping support by April, but Sony is removing the two apps a month before, with a system update this coming March.

As explained in the Maps FAQ, with the removal of that function comes removal of the near application. This is a social networking app that allows players to find other PSN users, and leave small virtual gifts behind real life locations, for other Vita users to find and use in their games.

In regards to YouTube, Sony touts that consumers can still use the web browser to access the browser site, but fans may of course already know that YouTube’s bespoke app is optimized for mobile, making navigation to account data, such as ‘Watch Later’ videos or subscribed channels, much easier.

Reading the news today found out that an interesting article about this whole *hack-sony-drama*. Seems that NSA have/had or just has access to North Korean networks and computers since 2010 (according to times).
Officials wanted to keep an eye about that Country Nuclear’s program, its high-ranking officials, and any plans to attack South Korea, according to a document published by Der Spiegel.

North Korea attacked/hacked South Korea back in 2013, funny though. Those hackers later revealed their IP addresses which are the same ones that popped up in Sony’s hack. (how convenient)
Some reports may indicate that a former Sony employee was behind that breach.

How come the FBI and even Obama were so sure that was North Korea the one responsable of this cyber-attacks?. Well, if NSA had access to North Korean networks and computers back in 2010. Most of those pieces fit. Just to later approve sanctions against the country.

The one million question is: If the US had information and they were *looking around* since 2010 what the Korea where doing on their own networks, how come they didn’t see nor prevent this attack from happening?.

    To quote:

According to the Times, the spear-phishing attacks that North Korea used to infiltrate Sony Pictures were nothing new and did not immediately ring any alarms until it was too late. “Only in retrospect did investigators determine that the North had stolen the ‘credentials’ of a Sony systems administrator, which allowed the hackers to roam freely inside Sony’s systems,” the paper said.

Small update to GameSonic Manager from last week. This new release brings a quick fix when loading PS2 games depending on if your on 4.65 CFW/4.66 Rebug.

Months ago the developer Joonie contacted me and asked me to make Gamesonic Manager compatible the next CFW Rebug, the 4.65.2 REX, and with a new way to play PS2 games on PS3 retro compatibility.

This not saying that the code has not been very easy to integrate, but for a couple of days I managed to make it work and to automate the procedure.

    Changelog:

If the manager will be on CFW 4.65 or 4.66 Rebug Cobra Habib whenever that will be launched a PS2Classic create a 0 byte file called “classic_ps2″ in dev_hdd0, this will activate the mode PS2Classic.
If the manager will be on CFW 4.65 or 4.66 Rebug Cobra Habib whenever that will be started and will detect the file “classic_ps2″ deletes it to enable the start of ISO PS2.

The alleged cyber criminal was brought in under suspicion of unauthorized access to computer material contrary to section 1 of Computer Misuse Act 1990 and the investigation continues.

    To quote:

An 18-year-old male was arrested as part of a larger investigation into the attacks which brought down the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live in 2014, according to a statement released earlier this week by the UK’s South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

Craig Jones, head of SEROCU’s Cyber Crime Unit, attested to working with the FBI on the investigation, which also includes numerous “swatting” offenses. “This investigation is a good example of joint law enforcement cooperation in relation to a type of criminality that is not restricted by any geographical boundaries,” Jones said. “We will continue to work closely with the FBI to identify those to who commit offences and hold them to account.”

The alleged cyber criminal was brought in under suspicion of unauthorized access to computer material contrary to section 1 of Computer Misuse Act 1990, unauthorized access with intent to commit further offences contrary to section 2 of Computer Misuse Act 1990 and threats to kill contrary to Section 16 of Offences against the person Act 1861.

Harmonnix explained why *Amplitude* got delayed. It’s their first project for PS4, plus an extensive work with the game proprietary Engine. Their success with Kickstarter has allowed the team to “create the game we want to make and, more importantly, make the game that you want.” Instead of being pushed with publisher’s deadline.

Amplitude‘s multi-instrument path to revival is a little longer than was initially anticipated, developer Harmonix has announced via Kickstarter update. The rhythm game’s estimated arrival has been pushed from its initially-planned window of March, with Harmonix “currently targeting” a summer release.

Harmonix explained the delay is partially due to Amplitude being the team’s first project on PS4, adding that extensive work is being put into Amplitude‘s proprietary engine. Unlike traditional development setups where content or quality could be sacrificed in order to meet a publisher’s deadline however, Harmonix stated that Amplitude‘s success on Kickstarter has allowed the team to “create the game we want to make and, more importantly, make the game that you want.”

Once Amplitude starts blasting notes on PS3 and PS4, fans will have a chance at jamming to original tracks from Freezepop, Anamanguchi and Super Meat Boy composer Danny Baranowsky, among others.

    REBUG RELEASED

Finally after a long wait and plenty of hiccups, Rebug 4.65.2 is officially here. I know a lot of you have been anxiously waiting for this release, but before we get right down to business I want to highlight the addition of more new talent to the REBUG Team. As most of you know, around October Habib & Joonie joined REBUG, but with this new release it has been officially announced that Abkarino has been added to the team as well.

Rebug 4.65.2 comes with COBRA 7.03, but by default it is disabled. It can be toggled on with Rebug Toolbox. As a result, Team Rebug isn’t intending to release a Lite Edition like they have in the past. Suggesting that since the default configuration provides the same basic scheme, it’s unnecessary to produce the extra PUPs.

As always, Rebug has a very comprehensive list of features, changes, fixes, etcetera; so we’re only going to cover some of the big ones:

    FEATURES FOR REBUG REX/D-REX EDITION

    • Dual LV2 Kernels CEX/DEX
(Swap your EID0/LV2 kernel using Rebug Toolbox in seconds)
    • ALL Retail functions available in CEX mode
(No need to install different firmware)
    • ALL Debug functions available in DEX mode
(No need to install different firmware)
    • ProDG Connectivity in DEX mode
(Full Support on Normal mode, Partial Support on Cobra mode)

    • Slot 0 is reserved for use for iso plugins (netiso.sprx and rawseciso.sprx).
    • Slots 1-6 are for boot plugins.

Plugins are loaded in the following way:

    • text file: /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt shall contain a plugin path per line.

    How to Install a Plugin:

    • Copy plugin_name.sprx to you internal ps3 hdd (ex: /dev_hdd0/).
    • Create or Edit boot_plugins.txt in the root of the hdd (/dev_hd00/boot_plugins.txt) and add a line for the new plugin. Assuming you placed the sprx also in the root of the disk, add: /dev_hdd0/plugin_name.sprx). Add a new line for each plugin.
    • Then Reboot PS3 Console!

    Cobra 7.03 PS2 Features (4.65 Cobra)
    PlayStation 2 on NON-BC Consoles:

      Software (SW) Emulation:
Support for PS2 ISOs in non BC consoles was removed in Cobra 4.30 (usb), due tops2_softemu missing. It has been re-enabled now by hacking of ps2_netemu. You can use it in the same way as before, just load an ISO and launch from disc icon, Cobra core takes care of rest. No need for encrypted isos, isos patched with limg sectors, etc. Just your normal PS2 isos dumped from discs. However, there is no support for optical discs in ps2_netemu. Note 1: Don’t forget to set the memory cards in XMB, in the old memory card utility for PS/PS2, as ps2_netemu won’t let you assign them in game. Note 2: Please use PS2 ISO / Classic Launcher (non-BC only for wireless sync issue) method to fix the issue with wireless pad sync issue. RAP activation via reactPSN is required

    PlayStation 2 on BC Consoles:

      Hardware (HW) Emulation:
PS3 Models: CECHA, CECHB, CECHC and CECHE Backwards Compatible (BC) Consoles will still use their respetive emulators(ps2_emu, ps2_gxemu), which have much better compatibility and also support optical discs, original or backup.

    COBRA MODE

COBRA mode / webMAN currently disabled by default, if you want to use Cobra 7.03 features, please enable Cobra mode via REBUG TOOLBOX 2.02.02. Previous Cobra CFW users may experience issues with some games due to improved cobra payload that has updated permission patch, in this case. ***Remove old game data and re-install the game, possibly save game data as well if you run into weird issues. Previous Cobra payload still had its old patches that were used for USB Dongle and mmCM, but not anymore, and this fixes the issue with all non-working games with Cobra. non-Cobra users will not have this problem since their data were not corrupted by old cobra payload.
