@JorisD33 has released a Windows application allowing Custom Firmware users to unban permanently their PlayStation 3 by re-flashing their NOR/NAND with a patched dump containing a valid IDPS.

This tool is useful only if you want to update to the latest Officiel Firmware and use PSN again and if you got a valid (and legit) IDPS.

    Quoted from ReadMe.txt :

    IDPS Changer 1.1
    by Joris

    * What do this application do? *

This application will change your IDPS and optionally your MAC address into your flash dump

    * How can I use it? *

Just put a VALID(!) NOR/NAND dump called dump.bin and your eEID Root Key called eid_root_key.bin into the same directory, run the program and enter your new IDPS
Your modified dump will be created as dump_patched.bin, you just have to flash it back to your console

    * How can I dump my eEID Root Key? *

    http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/…required-2481/

    * How can I dump my flash? *

    - Hardware flasher (E3, Teensy, Progskeet…)
    - Multiman (

    )
    - …

    * How can I byte-reverse my dump? *

    Flowrebuilder: http://www.ps3devwiki.com/wiki/Valid…#Flowrebuilder
If you byte-reverse your dump before using this application, remember to byte-reverse it back after the procedure

    CHANGELOG:

    *1.0 :
    - Initial release

This application is based on libeeid and PS3DevWiki ressource.

@Rogero , famous for his work on Rogero Manager and Rogero CFW, has Updated PS3 Nor and Nand Auto Patcher to v0.04
The application patches valid PlayStation 3 NOR & Nand dumps with proper downgrade files necessary for downgrading/unbricking PlayStation consoles.

    ChangeLog

    initial release v 0.01
    ————————

    • Compatible with both E3 and ProgSkeet Nor dumps.
    • Checking your PS3 Nor Dump if it is Byte-Reversed or No.
    • Applying the correct downgrade patches depending on the Dump type detected.
    • Eliminating the need to byte-swap the dump in order to apply the patches.
    • Making the patching easier rather then using several programs to do it.

    v 0.04
    ——-

    • Added new Rogero CFW4.40 v1.02 patches.
    • Works for any PS3 model with downgradable metldr revision (not metldr2) including PS3 with Minver 3.56
    • No more FSM is needed for downgrading.
    • Added detection of non-downgradable “metldr” revisions.
    • Added support for Interleaved NAND Dumps (now will patch both Nor and Nand dumps)

    How to use:

Drag and Drop any Nor or Interleaved NAND Dump onto the executable,
it will detect the dump type and patch it accordingly with CFW4.40 patches.

    Warning:

This program does not check for the dump validity,
you must provide a good dump previously checked and verified.

It will patch the dump image even if it’s not a 100% valid dump,
the program only does some minimal checks before patching
assuming that the user have provided a valid dump.

A guy called jubytoo from EOL achieved this ;) . Is confirmed but if you brick you are at your own. BE CAREFUL.

The ones who have as least version 3.56 on their PS3 are in lucky week.
With the collaboration of Varicela and Luckymas we achieved install CFW 4.30 E3 in this type of consoles.

With this method we can install CFW (FOR NOW ONLY CFW 4.30 E3) without do a downgrade process from any OFW superior or inferior to 3.55 but not superior to 4.30. ( PS3 WITH 4.31 OFW FOR NOW IT’S NOT POSSIBLE, YOU POSSIBLE BRICK IF YOU TRY).

WARNING: This method is VALID only for consoles with minimum OFW 3.56 with no metldr2.

To do this we will need this patches Patchv1 Three Musketeers:
    Download = http://www.mediafire.com/?54r17h5dt054ohx

We don’t need a dongle but we need a FLASHER to get our dump, there are many tutorials here on EOL as well on other sites on how to do it with progskeet, E3 or teensy.

Once we have our DUMP we will patch this offsets:

    patch1 : OFFSET 0C0010 LEGHT 6FFFE0
    patch2 : OFFSET 7C0010 LEGHT 6FFFE0
    patch3 : OFFSET 80000 LEGHT 20000
    patch4 : OFFSET A0000 LEGHT 20000
    patch5 : OFFSET 40000 LEGHT 20000
    patch6 : OFFSET 60000 leght 20000

Once patched will be write it with a flasher, start the PS3. Recovery will kick in and we will copy to a pendrive CFW 4.30 E3 with PS3/UPDATE folder structure. (If you were on 4.30 OFW the console will start normally, in this case we have to enter in recovery and update to CFW 4.30 E3 from there).

THIS WAS TESTED IN MANY 3.56 PS3′S. ( WE SUPPUOSE THAT A PS3 WITH OFW MINIMUM 3.60 NO METLDR2 WORKS BUT THIS WAS NOT TESTED).
WE DON’T HELD RESPONSABLE FOR BAD USE OR IF YOU BRICK DOING THIS.

Data that will be useful to you:

    - ON PS3 WITH 3.56 OFW MINIMUM YOU CAN’T DOWNGRADE NEVER FROM 4.30 BUT YOU CAN DO IT WITH OTHER FUTURE PATCHES TO ANOTHER CFW OR JUST INSTALL OFW IF YOU GET TIRED.

    - THIS PATCHES ONLY WORKS TO INSTALL CFW 4.30 E3 (If you need with multiman i can translate that) OTHER CFW’S STILL BEING 4.30 WILL INDICATE THAT THE DATA IS CORRUPTED WHEN WE TRY TO INSTALL FROM RECOVERY.

    Many thanks to EOL.

Yay we now have new CFW’s to install on our PS3′s, that is awesome, but unfortunately, that has brought with it a new wave of n00bs, now don’t get me wrong, i’m not bashing n00bs, we are all n00bish at something, but it appears that n00bs in the PS3 Scene don’t like to read information, so this is why i will sticky this on the front page for a little while, so i will get on with things:

Q.) I’m too afraid to risk going to 4.xx CFW, how can i still have Homebrew ?
A.) Well this is obviously the wrong thread for you, i advise you read this article regarding Jailbreaking on the stable 3.55 CFW, so go here:
    PS3 Jailbreaking F.A.Q – An Amateur Users Guide – Revised For 2012

For those of you wanting 4.xx CFW, then continue reading below.

    Q.) I have a 3K or 4K model, can i install 4.xx CFW.
A.) No any model in which you cannot downgrade to 3.55 or any model that has the new bootldr cannot have CFW installed, there is no timeline of when these models will be hacked or if they will ever be hacked, so go away and try and find a downgradeable model, for the rest of you lucky people with good PS3′s, continue below :)

Q.) Can 4.xx CFW be installed on 4.xx OFW ?
A.) NO, NO and NO, you need to DOWNGRADE to a 3.55 Firmware.

    Q.) Can i Software Downgrade from 4.xx OFW ?
A.) NO, at the moment you MUST, use a Hardware Flasher, like Progskeet or E3, if you are comfortable with soldering, then Progskeet is the recommended device.

    Q.) Can i brick my PS3 installing a 4.xx CFW ?
A.) Yes, as with all OFW’s or CFW’s you have a chance of bricking, with CFW’s your chances of bricking become a lot higher, when you dont read.

    Q.) Can i brick my PS3 by downgrading ?
A.) Of course you can, but most bricks occur due to user error.

Q.) Who is to blame for any bricks ?
A.) You as the user are, most bricks are down to user error, take your time to read, take your time to understand, take all the time possible and have some patience, it will pay off and be rewarding in the end.

Q.) Will there ever be a method to upgrade from straight from 4.xx OFW to 4.xx CFW ?
A.) We are but mere mortals, we are not psychic, the only advice that one can give you is, be patient and wait until the PlayStation 4 is released.

Q.) Will there ever be a method to Software Downgrade from 4.xx ?
A.) We are but mere mortals, we are not psychic, the only advice that one can give you is, be patient and wait until the PlayStation 4 is released.

Q.) So how do i do all this and do it safely ?
    A.) READ BELOW!!!!!!!!

    -added passphrase
-added fix for the old black screen titles
    -4.25 spoof

Tortuga Cove resident Rogero has released a long awaited update to his CFW. This one covers PSN access, 4.25 Spoofing, pesky BSD games and much more…. Thanks again Rogero for all your hard work!

Rogero, famous for his work on Rogero Manager and Rogero CFW, has released an application he calls PS3 Nor Dump Auto-Patcher. The application patches valid PlayStation 3 NOR dumps with proper downgrade files necessary for downgrading/unbricking PlayStation consoles. More from Rogero:

    N.B:
Always make several Nor Dumps and Validate your dump properly before proceeding to patch it and Flash it back.
This Link have all the info needed to validate the Dump –> PS3 DevWiki, Validating flash dumps
    A Ps3 without a valid Nor/Nand Dump is non-recoverable.

Since most of the new users of our community *Fail* to see the BIG AND FULL OF COLORS banner i will clarify this:

    DOWNGRADE:

First you have to CHECK if you can downgrade your PS3:

    • Use MinVerChk PUP from ps3devwiki = download
    • Use as reference the SKU models = click
    • ON NAND you have TO SOLDER. USING PROGSKEET OR TEENSY++.
    • ON NOR CONSOLES You can USE E3 FLASHER (CLIP = NIGHTMARE IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY SEAT IT! WARNING!!!!) IF YOU CAN DOWNGRADE YOUR PS3, EVEN IF YOU CAN DOWNGRADE YOU HAVE TO DO TRISTATE/SBE SOMETIMES IN ORDER JUST IN CASE TO AVOID A BRICK OR IF YOU BRICK GET A CHANCE TO UNBRICK YOUR PS3. (And TEENSY++ and progskeet as well if you have serious soldering skills)

FLASHING YOUR PS3 WITH E3 FLASHER:

    • Keep in mind that the CLIP if it’s bad seated can be give you 10000 BAD DUMPS so you can brick on worst case PERMA-BRICK .
    • The CLIP is the worst nightmare and most of the times the main reason of bricks, you have to read and read more to avoid getting in more problems.
    • Check and double check as many times you need your DUMPS!!! If you NEED HELP JUST ASK!!!

Use PS3DEVWIKI E3 PAGE and READ! = CLICK

    PSN:

    • IF YOU DOWNGRADE YOU HAVE NO PSN ACCESS EVEN IF YOU CONVERTED TO DEX.
    • IF YOU CONVERT TO DEX YOU DON’T HAVE ACCESS TO PSN.

    SERIES 3K or 3000:

YOU CAN’T USE A DOWNGRADE FLASHER ON 3K MODELS IS USELESS! SO YOU CAN’T DOWNGRADE!!!

    Regards

It may be hard to believe, but it is almost two years since PS Jailbreak was released, reversed, the PS3 free’d and then locked back up again, a lot has gone on since then, Sony scaring away “hackers” and many other events.

The PS3 should be free as the Wii and Xbox 360, but the people that are truly capable of pwning the PS3 are either too scared or just cant be bothered with the drama associated with the PS3 Scene.

It is of course 2012 and i see threads every day, asking how to jailbreak ones PS3, so i am creating this article in a hope to help those that need it, this
is my fourh F.A.Q, for those of you wishing to read my previous ones, visit here.

    (Q) Why Would I Hack/Jailbreak My PS3 ?
    (A) Hacking your PS3, gives you so many new option’s, you will be able to use emulators, homebrew apps and game backups as well as being able to use Linux, after Sony removed the function in firmware 3.21.

    (Q) Is there a firmware my PS3 should be on ?
    (A) It seems the preferable firmwares are 3.15(For the real OtherOS), 3.41(The original “Jailbreak” firmware) and 3.55(the first CFW PS3), 3.55 is the favourite and most used.

    (Q) What Firmwares cannot be hacked yet ?
    (A) 3.56 to 4.21 are unhackable at the moment, perhaps it will remain that way, or perhaps we will see a break through in the future, only time will tell.

    (Q) But when i bought my PS3, the firmware was above 3.55/My family member updated my console when i was out :( , how can i have Homebrew ?
    (A) All hope isn’t lost, you can downgrade your consoles firmware with hardware, here is a list:

    Visit here for more information:

    (Q) Which PS3 Consoles cannot be downgraded ?

    (A) Unfortunately there are some consoles that cannot at this stage be downgraded, these are certain models of CECH-25xx, 3K models and 4K models, for more info, check here:

    (Q) Downgrading was a pain, i don’t want to go through that again, is there a way i can protect my PS3 from accidental upgrading ?
    (A) You can use Team Rebugs firmware spoofer, it spoofs the firmware, so that when someone attempts to update the PS3, via internet, the PS3 tells them they are already on the highest firmware, as an extra precaution, you should remove your consoles access to the internet, when you are not around, you can grab your spoofer, from the offical Rebug site here.

    (Q) What Firmwares are available for me to install
    (A) There are many different versions of MFW, but the most popular are:

    (Q) How do i install CFW ?
    (A) If you aren’t already on 3.55, you will need to update to the official Sony firmware, then install a CFW via recovery, Pirate wrote a great guide, which you can read here:
[Tutorial] How to play and install Backups with Kmeaw CFW+PSN without risk of brick or itskamel’s NOOB JAILBREAK GUIDE

    (Q) Ok so i have CFW installed, how do i run homebrew ?
    (A) You will see in the game section, you will see “Install Package Files”, you will be able to install all your homebrew and backup managers from there, just a note though, the PKG files that you are installing, need to be on the root of your FAT32 formatted thumbdrive/external HDD.

    (Q) Now that i have updated to 3.55 CFW, is there a list of working homebrew app’s/games ?
    (A) Here are a few links:

    (Q) How do i run backups ?
    (A) You will need a backup manager, it seems that only two are being used at the moment:

    • Rogero’s Rogero Manager
    • deank’s Cobra endorsed mmCM

    (Q) I have games that require 3.56 firmware and above, how do i play them ?
    (A) The only easy option available is a reDRM device called True Blue(TB), you can buy the piece of shit or one of its clones, we aren’t a sell-out site like TBCrunch, so we will not link to such devices, though if you have a TB Device, there are members like Adamsville on the forum who will help you, my stance as many others on this forum is:

But as i said, Adamsville will help, if needed.

    (Q) There surely has to be a free method for playing backups ?
    (A) Up until recently, the diseased reDRM device was the only way, but recently a CEX>Dex conversion was leaked and that paved the way to running backups which require a higher firmware.

    (Q) How do i convert my PS3 from Cex>Dex ?
    (A) There are a few ways, though this is an extremely dangerous method for your PS3, if you do not know what you are doing, you will brick, check here for some help:

    (Q) How do i run backups on a Cex>Dex converted PS3 ?
    (A) There are different methods popping up, here is one:

    (Q) What are my storage options for backing up games ?

(A.1) You can backups certain games to CD/DVD/BD disc’s, read here for more information.
(A.2) You can install games on the PS3′s internal HDD or use an External USB HDD, which needs to be formatted to FAT32, you can also use a FAT32 USB Thumb Drive, note that with FAT32 you are limited to games with single files under 4GB, if you prefer all your games to be on the internal HDD, you can get up to 1TB 2.5? HDD, or you can use the Xecuter PS3 HDXT method and have your internal HDD on the outside of the machine, the benefit of this, is that you can use 3.5? Sata and IDE HDD’s as internal storage.

Some more PS3 HDD Information submitted by eussNL(Thanks again)
    - maximum height is 9,5mm (many 2.5? drives above 640GB are too high too fit inside)
    – maximum PS3 filesystem is 1TB (512KB block size)
    – maximum FAT32 theoretical size is 8TB, practical limit on the PS3 is 2TB
    – 7200rpm can be used, as well as Flashdrives (although the 1/5th lower loadingtime of GTA5 can be considered too low to justify the higher pricetag of SATA Flashdrives.
    – SATAII-300 can be used, although it will work on SATA1-150 speed interface.
    – If using external 3.5? drives hooked up to the internal SATA, you’ll need an external powersupply (some drivebays include them).
    – If on low budget or you like DIY: use a normal extension (male to female) SATA cable (and make sure it doesn’t get loose) and recycle the case + powersupply of an external USB harddisk (without using the USB connection/conversion).
    – Don’t use RAID or SAN drives with (e)SATA interface, just a plain single drive with a bare SATA connector (many controllers don’t work without drivers/software).
    – Games can be hardcoded for BluRay speeds (9MB/s) so sticking a 85~220MB/s harddrive inside will not speedup everything/allways (but most do).
    – If you plan on exchanging the drive, download the full PUP of your FW you are using and put it on an USB Mass Storage Device formatted with FAT32 in PS3UPDATEPS3UPDAT.PUP and disconnect the LAN before re powering the PS3 (or you’ll bound to end up with the latest (3.55 now) unjailbreakable/undowngradable version).
    – Use a good fitting X screwdriver, the screws fitted to the HD<>tray are made of very soft aluminum.

Here is a tutorial, by forum member Invi, on how to an External IDE HDD Case and use it as Internal Storage:

    (Q) Now that i am on 3.55, can i install Linux ?
    (A) Follow this thread.

    (Q) Ok im fed up with using my thumb drive, is there a way to download apps directly to the PS3.
    (A) Yes,you will need to instal “Package Installer”, then you will be able to FTP the apps to the “packages” folder on your PS3, you can find more about that here.

    (Q) Ok so i have backed up a game, i want to save that game to my computer as an extra backup, or i want to mod the game, how do i transfer it from my PS3.
    (A) There are two methods, FTP, there are three of those at the moment:

    Alternatively you can use

    or

if you cant use FTP, or have an External HDD, Comgenies Filemanager is the best choice.

    (Q) I want to be able to create my own Homebrew, is it possible.

(A.1) Yes, using the Open Source PS3 SDK, named PSL1GHT, you can create Homebrew, PSL1GHT was created by AerialX, read about it here.

(A.2) You can use the Official Sony SDK, it is reported that this is better for creating homebrew, than the open source version.

    (Q) I backed up a few of my movies to .AVI and .MKV formats, but when i try and play them through Showtime, or stream them via PS3Media Server, i get a Cinavia warning, is there any way past this ?
    (A) You can install this app:

    (Q) Can play PS2/PS1 backups on my Jailbroken PS3 ?
(A.1) You can use this method, it lets you use Swap Magic to load PS2 backups on your PS3, the only consoles allowed, are those that are Backwards Compatible, this option also works on a non Jailbroken PS3, even with firmware 3.70
(A.2) You can use the Cobra USB dongle, to play PS1 or PS2 backups on your Jailbroken PS3, it is compatible with firmwares 3.41 and 3.55.
(A.3) You can use this method to play PS1 backups on firmware 3.41 and 3.55.

    (Q) Can i use internet and play online with CFW/JB, what about PSN/SEN etc ?
    (A) Yes, browser with apps for 3.55 and lower works online except PSN/SEN, online gaming is possible only via X/BS/link/ai on PC, if game has LAN option:
    Playing online via XBSlink
    Thanks spok

    (Q) The PS3 boot up logo annoys me, can i change it ?
    (A) Indeed you can, you can change both the visual and audio, these logos are called ColdBoots, you can either:

    (Q) The PS3 seems to have went on an epic journey, where can i read more about it ?
    (A) You can check out www.ps3history.net

    (Q) If i need help that is not mentioned in this F.A.Q, what should i do ?
    (A) You could either ask the question in this article, or ask your question in the forums help section here.

Heres a quick update from Rogero bringing his CFW to v3.4.

    To quote:

    v3.4
    ——
    1- Privacy Patch removed.
2- Added built in PSN/SEN access, which allows going online with this CFW without any additional tools required
(This CFW have been tested on many slims tonight, but as usual, use it on your own risk…)

-v3.3 Updated the system version spoof to 4.21 to prevent accidental system updates (won’t allow going online in any way)

-v3.2 Updated the system version spoof to 4.20 to prevent accidental system updates (won’t allow going online in any way)

-v3.1 BSOD problem on some PS3 machines after downgrade now is fixed..

    Usage / Compatibility:
    - Can be used for Downgrade directly using a hardware flasher like Progskeet / E3 Flasher / Teensy++, etc…
    - Can be used for normal system update like any other CFW/MFW from XMB or from Recovery Menu.

    Internal Structure:
    New Features:
    - Built-in system version spoof to 4.20 to prevent accidental system updates (won’t allow going online in any way)
    - NoBD Patch to allow installing it with the Blu-Ray drive disconnected (especially for downgrading purposes)
    - Have other fixes that prevents the Black screen or Payload loading problems encountered on some PS3 systems.

    Standard Features:
    - Kmeaw patched Lv2 with necessary patches to allow Peek/Poke support (same games compatibility as Kmeaw CFW)
    - LV1 Checks Disabled to bypass the Syscon hashes for downgraded consoles.
    - Privacy Patch applied to block communications with all Sony servers.
    - Custom Boot Logo.
    - built-in “Heavy Rain” dynamic theme.

This is a better optimized version of the previous MFW released, This one is a Custom firmware
built manually by patching and packing the files and the final PUP package using the well known
“failoverflow” public set of tools and having “Kmeaw” as the base firmware unlike it’s previous
version which was a Modified firmware built using the famous MFW builder application and using
an OFW3.55 as the base firmware.

    History:
After several days and more testing of the first MFW released for downgrading from 3.70–>3.55
I had some users feedback from #progskeet-support that some PS3 machines are having either
the Registry Corrupted/Blue Screen or just a Black Screen after downgrade that required re-installing
the MFW from Recovery Menu or reflashing the NOR in some cases.

Further research about the downgrade V2 patches and the no_check.PUP with some more testing
showed that a Kmeaw based LV2 seems to have better compatibility with the Downgrade patches
applied to the NOR image then a MFW built with a patched LV2, so I decided to build a new version
manually which is a custom firmware that combines Kmeaw LV2 patches with Dospiedras Lv1 no-check
patches and having the minimal/necessary set of patches to preserve the best overall stability.

Thanks to the all the beta testers especially Blakcat & Marlboro1

N.B: please note that Rogero Manager v8.5 or newer are only compatible with this CFW V2
because the CFW have the built in version spoofed to 3.70 and older versions of the Manager (8.4 and lower)
can’t recognize it and won’t be able to load the necessary payload.

    Cheers

Rogero has updated his popular CFW, to implement 4.21 spoof, before people ask what the difference is between this and Kmeaw, this is like Kmeaw on steroids, here is some info about this firmware:

Sometime ago, a research done by US Military *suggested* that the Actel/Microsemi ProASIC3 chips with sophisticated encryption revealed a backdoor (not like the computer OS backdoor) being in the eye of the storm, China about this problem. Since the Chip is manufactured in that Country.
The ones who don’t know Actel, this is being used in many devices in differents areas. Funny fact this one is the most *common* to see in the scene, progskeet has one as TB. Any hardware flasher that needs some serious options to resolve certain problems, the best solution = Actel (low cost)

Problem is with so much power comes a bigger responsability and seems that Actel has a big, nice and not covered backdoor.
    Just to quote something:

“The backdoor is only available on the actual silicon and is has not been detected in any firmware loaded onto the chip.
Traditionally, bugs or flaws in firmware are easily fixed with a patch. No fixes are available for the actual hardware of the chip or silicon which makes the group’s findings even more alarming since the devices are actively deployed in the field. Skorobogatov further states, “This permits a new and disturbing possibility of a large scale Stuxnet-type attack via a network or the Internet on the silicon itself. If the key is known, commands can be embedded into a worm to scan for JTAG, then to attack and reprogram the firmware remotely.” The only known fix would be to recall all chips in use for replacement, which is highly unlikely at this point.”

The chip has an unique KEY that if it get’s in the wrong hands can lead to a nice large scale problem. Someone knowing that UNIQUE key can do pretty much anything he wants. When the quote makes mention to Stuxnet = Stuxnet is a computer worm that attaches itself deep into a computer system (usually SCADA equipment) discovered in 2010 labeled as the 21th century trojan horse.

Here the thing get more complicated:

This (issue) has sparked much debate in the chip community and again raises the question as to why some of our highest security electronic devices are being made in a region that is widely known for stealing intellectual property rights (ring any bells?) and leading the trend in counterfeiting devices. Even if this case isn’t found to be designed with malicious intent, doesn’t this keep the door wide open for that to happen in the future?.

The chip is used by low cost and high and wide *options* that can offer. This catched my attention, in may some news portals posted about the risk of using this chip, someone halted on a boing 787 that with this backdoor problem that could allow the chip to be taken over via the internet.
The back door may have been inserted by Actel itself (they think but the opinions pretty much divided about who actually created that backdoor), whose ProASIC3 chip is used in medical, automotive, communications and consumer products, as well as military use.

    What you think?.

Tortuga Coves resident PS3 Dev Rogero has released an update to his CFW/MFW, here is a quote from the source thread:

NGU member  master0wn3r has been playing around in OFW 4.11 and has managed to install non-homebrew PKGs on his PS3 making it basically a modified shop/kiosk firmware. For most of you this is probably useless as obviously there is no homebrew support (may never be with this method), but who knows…its still a work in progress. And anyways, doing anything Sony doesn’t want us to is always good news :)

    To quote:
This firmware will not install / run PS3 homebrew packages! Everything you install on your console is on your own risk, this firmware has been tested and confirmed working, if you brick your console its 110% your own fault!

Hello all, I wanna show you all how to get install package files on your OFW 4.11. It still has some bugs but I am working on it

Please people, if you get errors don’t blame me! be happy this is for OFW 4.11 and you don’t have to downgrade first, this is a little step forward in the PS3 jailbreak / unlock for 4.11.

    Requirements:

    1. USB Stick
    2. The Modded Firmware (below)
    3. A PS3
    4. Know how to get in Recovery mode

    Main Features:

    • Complete Patch Blocker inside firmware, Blocks all game updates and any application that has a update server besides System Firmware Updater.
    • Install Package Files is added to XMB under Settings menu right below Network Settings.
    • Automatic Update, this feature can be found under Settings menu then enter System Settings Sub menu, Scroll to the bottom and turn this on or off, This being ON will automatically Update the system firmware from internet on the booting (Turning on) of the console.. Recommended to keep this to off to avoid Sony releasing a patch.
    • Automatic Update via Flash Drive (Any storage device plugged in with update data of firmware) on booting of console, this feature is on by default and not currently a way to turn it off. But you will never want it turned off because when i release a new firmware all you have to do is plug the flash drive into the PS3 and turn it on to start the procedure of the next firmware.
    • This is based off of Demo mode firmware so restrictions are present that are irremovable at the moment, PlayStation Store is Blocked off, Go to saved data and click the PSN Plus Online Data to enter the PSN store. PlayStation Home use is by having a friend invite you to Home, PS Vita Deleting Backups feature is removed.

    What does it include?

    1. The long expected “Install Package Files Folder”
    2. Automatic updates from games (PSN+ Content see Settings )
    3. For now it wont properly install and run package files, but i am working on it
    4. Installation on the good old 4.11 OFW
    5. Your console is a SHOP / KIOSK Console from CEX to SEX (lol?)

You won’t need a hardware flasher like E3 or Progskeet for this to get this working. Note that this isn’t an April Fools joke like Nodex, this firmware will install successfully with the install package files folder

With this Modified Firmware you will get the install package files folder in the settings folder, and automatic game updates when you start your PS3, it gives you a few useful extensions to your OFW. I will give a tutorial how to do it, and also how to convert your console back to retail, please tell me all the bugs you found! Here you go:

Now here’s the procedure you need to do to install this:

    • Grab and put firmware update on a flash drive as usual you should know how to do that
    • Now insert it into the PS3 and put the console into recovery mode then do the system update like that, it will not be detected from the XMB menu updater so you must do it this way.
    • Now that’s basically it just accept the agreement and start installing.
    • Once you are into the firmware it will say 4.11 demonstration mode in the down right corner of your screen, navigate over to Settings menu then scroll down to security settings hover over it do not enter it.
    • Now on your controller Hold down L1+R1+Select+Square and you’ll be prompted with a security code 4 digits Enter your security code for your PS3 if you’ve never changed it then it’ll be 0000 if you restore default everything on this firmware then it will reset the code to 2464.
    • Now when your down click enter and it’ll unlock everything, you’ll have to do this every time you restart your system.
    • Now to convert back to retail just grab the other firmware (below) and you can install this through the XMB this time.
    • Now you’re done, in the future i will work on this and exploit it future and possibly there will be a jailbreak. So stay updated and I’ll work on it further soon.

No matter how much of an asshole people think i am and its true i can be a complete dick at times, there is no denying that i have a huge passion for the PS3 Scene, i know its not the best scene in the world, in fact its probably the worst, but my passion for it outweighs all the negativity.

That passion developed more when the PS3 was “Jailbroken”, it drove me to create PS3History, which i originally started here on PS3HaX, but it got to large and cumbersome for the one page, so i created www.ps3history.net which has been going for almost two years, then the PS Vita was announced, which made me decide to create “consolehistories”, i have history for the Vita and WiiU, though none of them are anywhere near the same caliber as PS3History, quite recently i was inspired by PS3HaX member “jennys” to create Retro History, so with that said, now and then i post my PS3History progress and that is what im just about to do below.

I know the PS3History is not complete, it is very far from being complete, what i would like from my fellow PS3HaX comrades is input and on the website and remind me of anything i have left out, anyhow here goes:

    PS3History

    2000 – 2001

These years may seem early for a story on the History Of The PS3, but these dates will be understood as you read further into the PS3 history.(Thanks to winocm, for making me go back this far :p).
