    MM has had a small update. The first one is that there are new update servers live on dean’s personal servers supporting MM.

    In addition there is a Showtime update that incorporates the media center to MM.

    Here’s a tutorial by PS3HaX user stone_boys to block the XMB scrolling, advertisting, or the news ticker.


    Tutorial to permanently disable the PS3 Ticker
    Sometimes called XMB scrolling ticker, XMB advertisting ticker, or XMB news ticker.

    Requirements:

    1. Multiman/mmOS
    2. Ability to blacklist a DNS domain for the PS3 using OpenDNS, local router, or other method.

    Optional:

    1. FileZilla (or other FTP client)

    Steps to follow:

    1. Start Multiman and use FileZilla (FTP client) to connect (or use mmOS directly)
    2. Delete /dev/hdd0/tmp/explore/nsx/db.xml
    3. Delete all applicable folders containing a file named getmanifest under /dev/hdd0/tmp/explore/nsx/
    4. Blacklist ndmdhs.com or us.np.adproxy.ndmdhs.com through OpenDNS, local router, or any other method to blacklist the DNS domain
    5. Restart PS3

    After restart, the db.xml gets recreated, but since the DNS domain is blacklisted the folder and the getmanifest file isn’t be created.

    Be careful which folders you delete as some people may use /dev/hdd0/tmp/explore/nsx/ folder to install homebrew or show additional software on XMB.

    That’s it. Enjoy. Maybe somebody can build on this and find another way.

    Possible option for Multiman

    Maybe Deank can put an option in Multiman to delete this info and/or make the nsx folder immutable (unsure if PS3 has this ability).

    My motivation for providing this:

    I was banned from the Playstation Network. The ticker really annoyed me and since I can’t to use PSN anymore, why should Sony get to put advertisements on my console? I’ve also seen other ask if this can be done.

    Things that didn’t work regarding /dev/hdd0/tmp/explore/nsx/

    1. Renamed nsx folder to nsx_old. After restarting the PS3, a new nsx folder was created.
    2. Changing permissions of nsx folder to 000. After restarting the PS3, nsx folder was renamed to nsx_yyyymmddhhmmss_00 and a new nsx folder was created.
    3. I was hoping to find a way to change the username/group ownership of the nsx folder, but haven’t found a way. I assume it won’t work either based on other attempts.

    @JorisD33 has released a Windows application allowing Custom Firmware users to unban permanently their PlayStation 3 by re-flashing their NOR/NAND with a patched dump containing a valid IDPS.

    This tool is useful only if you want to update to the latest Officiel Firmware and use PSN again and if you got a valid (and legit) IDPS.

    SONY BLACK aka GOD_Diablo has created a written and video tutorial on how to change the PSN logo colour on Rebugs CFW, it should work on other CFW’s too, first here is the written Tutorial:

    today i tell you guys how to chance the red psn icon on rebug cfws. you can chance it to any color you want.
    you can use it on rogeros standart blue psn icon to.
    first you will need this tools https://mega.co.nz/#!UlkDCAZB!YeJwWx…aIqz_q16DKqK9U for pc/laptop and ps3. you can use any another tools with the same performs. for edit the icon im using photoshop. cant put a download link because its warez. you will need a photo/graphic tool on pc to chance the color.

    1- enable on MultiMan Whrite Access to /dev_flash
    2- connect your ps3 to pc/laptop.
    3- move to /dev_blind > vsh > resource > xmb_plugin_normal.rco < and copy to desktop.
    4- start rcomagegui.exe and use this setting.

    Rogero has realeased a new version of his CEX 4.40 CFW. It’s recommended to update if you are on v1.02.

    CFW4.40 v1.03 released on first page, it is recommended to update from v1.02 because v1.03 is better built with more features.

    • Rebuilt the CFW with minimal patches needed for similar OFW Stability, also adding full compatibility with multiMAN Tools.
    • All known issues from v1.02 are fixed now (XMB PS2 Game Saves, Sequential Video Playback, Media Server always on)
    • Removed Cinavia Patch used on v1.02 because of some compatibility issues (When DEX4.40 is public it will be added properly again)
    • Added the ToolBox to [app_home/PS3_GAME] to restore multiMAN/StealthMAN launch mode from ToolBox.
    • Updated the ReactPSN patch to work offline without the need to log into PSN at all (Credits to Team Rebug for their original 4.30.1 Patch)
    • Added both noBD/noBT patches to allow installation on consoles with broken BluRay Drive or Bluetooth board.

    If you have updated your CFW PS3 to a 4.xx CFW you will notice that Sony have added a stupid annoying warning screen, telling you how you could suffer from an epilepsy attack if you use your console for prolonged amounts of time, now anyone with a brain already knows this and this screen is pointless.
    Now thanks to Mistawes you can change the text in that screen to something of your choosing, here is how:

    So it really bugs me to see this every time I boot up or reboot, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

    So, to edit it yourself, do the following:

    Download RCOmage and extract somewhere suitable on your PC.

    Now, while running your PS3, go into Multiman and enable dev_blind (4th last item in settings).

    Go to file manager or FTP into dev_blind/vsh/resource and copy sysconf_plugin.rco to USB/PC.

    Open the .rco in RCOmage where it says “RCO input” by selecting browse..

    Set the output name to whatever you want, save as .xml and untick every box, other than “Seperate resource types” and “Decode VSMX scripts”.

    Now hit dump, and wait for it to finish. Then go to the folder you extracted to, into the “Text” folder and open “English.xml” – Or whatever language you use..
    NOTE: I use Notepad++ : LINK and make sure encoding says UTF-8, but MS Notepad might work, but turn off “word wrap”.

    Search for “health” and edit the two lines containing the warning you see at boot, to whatever you want, or leave it blank!

    Now, you are free to edit other things here, but be VERY careful as it’s so easy to softbrick! Then save the .xml file.

    Now, back to RCOmage, click the “compile” tab and select the “output xml” file from the beginning and select where to output your modded RCO file (make sure to name it correctly – sysconf_plugin.rco). Then tick the “zlib” button beside “Header Compression”, nothing else should be selected then hit “Compile”.

    Then, copy that back to dev_blind/vsh/resource and overwrite the original. Then restart your PS3 and check to see your new message!

    If it freezes or won’t load, go into recovery and re-install the exact same CFW. Otherwise (if it errors when re-installing) install Rebug 999 downgrader and dehash, then back upto 4.XX.

    I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT HAPPENS, GOOD/BAD/INDIFFERENT.

    ISO support Chinese file name. Supports PS2 games imported into the specified, filename prefix (1 to 9), the absence of any () is in order of file name to import.
    For example, (1) Contra. ISO (2) Chessmaster. ISO imported into SOLT SOLT 2 and 1 respectively.

    Usually only need to perform step 3, you can import a different PS2 ISO, run PS2 games. Has imported the same game it does not repeat the import, save time.

    Unfortunately, the PS2 game not in XMB icon displays the modified tip, PS3 PSN game can be.

    aldostools has updated his PS3 tools collection bringing various updates to the various tools in this collection.  Listed below is the changelog of all the tools being updated:

    PS3 Games Database 1.3 updated 2013-03-12!

    This tool lets you create a database of PS3 games and search through it easily.
    You can build your own database of collected games in CSV format and use this tool to view and organize it.
    *The db.csv included is just an example. You have to build your database yourself

    New features: Auto download images from PSN store, save database to CSV file, import list of games from USB drive, FTP server, clipboard or just entering the URL of a game.

    PS3 FTP Client 3.0.2 updated 2013-03-12!

    It’s a full FTP client that allows remote access to your PS3 via a PC. It is still a WIP and some features are not complete. Currently the main feature is the PS3 file ripper via FTP. Other features include: file description, view cover image for selected folder, multiMAN remote commands, etc.

    PS3 Cheats Editor 2.8.2 updated 2013-03-11!

    Edits the cheats database for ps3usercheat (st.dat). Allows export/import cheats to the database in text and binary formats. 3.55 CFW is required.

    Now the cheats compatible with the EBOOT hack can be identified easily. This version includes a cheats database for 536 games compiled by gingerbread @ ps3hax and a link to his discussion thread. Thanks to @SkillerCMP now the EBOOT patcher supports code type: 0T00 (8bit), 1T00 (16bit), 2T00 (32bit), 4T00 (Serial codes), 5T00 (Copy codes)

    It’s a tool for view quickly the ContentID of a PKG. It also manages several file associations for a seamless integration with Windows Explorer. Please read the readme for details.

    Changes:
    2.1.3 Added “Convert to Homebrew Package” to .self/.bin context menu. This option creates a PKG with a copy of the .self/eboot.bin renamed as RELOAD.SELF and signed as a retail self, and a npdrm EBOOT.BIN that calls the RELOAD.SELF.
    Once the PKG is installed, the XMB application can be launched directly from multiMAN’s menu. Credits to deank

    Estwald has updated the awesome Iris Manager to version 2.20, here is a quote from the change log:

    New: In Version 2.20

    - New payload v8 syscall eliminating the syscall 36 and used instead to 8 redirections. The syscall 8 works in a hidden in applications, thus respecting the other use that gives the syscall 8 in certain firmwares (LV1 Peek)

    - Added Multiman method for disc-less from / APP_HOME (thanks for commenting DeanK how it works). This increases the compatibility.

    - Added patched explore_plugin.sprx method to launch the games from road / dev_bdvd when selecting / app_home/PS3_GAME. This method connects when “No Controller BDVD” and requires that each CFW patched module (see explore_plugin_notes.txt within patch_tools_libfs_exploreplugin.rar). Grid is a game thus far.

    - Fixed all (fucking) problems and other productions, as authentication based disks using CFW 3.41, 3.55, 4.21 and 4.31 (yes, I’ve been to them all)

    - Now HDD0 mounts are safer, both for the method how it can be accessed only “/ dev_bdvd” in reading.

    - Added ability to restart by pressing TRIANGLE on the main screen

    - Iris Manager now works in two ways, thinking about those who have BDVD operational unit and the voiceless.
