Crashserious is on a roll today, releasing a PS3 app to set jailbroken PS3s to service mode/factory mode without the need of a JIG stick. This method simplifies those who wish to downgrade their PS3s easily via PKG.

    To quote:

    +============================+

    Look Ma, No Downgrade Dongle

    +============================+

In keeping with our Red Valentines theme this month… we release another red themed app. Tonight, in our second release we bring you a second handy app that continues our commitment to the removal or the need for ANY dongles. A simple app that should likely make it into everyone’s PS3 tool set. An XMB application that places the PS3 into factory service mode. Now, You can now throw away that downgrade dongle! Also, as an added bonus we’ve included CEX and DEX versions of the pkg.

Psgrade was ported to all sorts of devices, even calculators … none of those external devices are needed any longer! You may now re-purpose them!

    Usage:
    ——
When you run the app it will beep once and reboot if successful. Three beeps indicates a failure, report the contents of factory.txt in this thread for help. (Factory.txt will save to the USB flash if you put on in the right most USB port of the PS3.) At this point you will come back up in Factory Service Mode (FSM). Place the Lv2Diag.self on the USB the Lv2diag.self will perform its intended purpose automatically. So be aware of that feature should you not be expecting the PS3 to boot back into the non-FSM XMB.

This app will not work on any of the “reDRM” firmwares, aka Cobra or TrueBlue CFW.

Install the appropriate pkg for your system; FactoryServiceMode.gnpdrm.pkg for CEX and FactoryServiceMode.pkg for DEX.
Run the app and listen for the beeps, you should enter FSM automatically.
Place the desired Lv2Diag.self files on the root of a USB flash drive, ensuring they are named Lv2diag.self. The one included with this release simply exits FSM. Do NOT use the RSOD Lv2Diag released earlier unless you have RSOD.
Place the USB Flash Drive in the right most USB port of the PS3.
Restart the PS3. When it boots up, you will be out of FSM.
Enjoy sticking it to the dongle makers in your own little way.

    Information:
    ————
The app detects the firmware you are running on so it should work on all the firmwares supported by “one” previously. (3.15, 3.41, and 3.55. Basically, Ones that are lower than 3.56.) During creation of this tool, the open-source ps3toolchain, and a slightly modified make_self were utilized. All code is original and makes use of no previously released or copyrighted code, this Lv2diag.self is made 100% with the PSL1GHT SDK so it can be shared freely and without concern for breaking any laws in your country. So, “no sony code inside!”

    FAQ:

Q: Can I use this with the RSOD fix self you released earlier?
A: You should only use the RSOD fix Lv2Diag.self to repair a RSOD PS3. Use the suplied Lv2diag.self packaged with this release to simply get out of service mode.

    Q: I’m having problems… help!!!!?!?!?!?
A: Post the contents of the factory.txt, which is stored on the root of the USB flash drive where you put Lv2Diag.self, along with a detailed explanation and we will try to help you out. Without the contents of the factory.txt file… we will not be able to help.

Q: Why didn’t you just name the release .self file Lv2diag.self and save us a step?
A: We intend to release more fun tools for you at some point, this just helps you keep them straight from the start.

Q: I get a 80010505 error in factory.txt on the USB drive sometimes. HELP!?!?!
A: We noticed this on one Phat CECHG system in testing. but could not replicate it on other PS3′s and it only occured after the initial run from a power on of the PS3. In this case, every time we ran it a second time the application worked with out fail. Try again and post the factory.txt if the problem persists.

Q: Could you have made this just a little easier to use?
    A: Nope! ;-)

A while ago we posted about a partial RSOD fix for your console through a .pup solution. PS3 scene developer CrashSerious has released a full and complete fix for the RSOD issue. The author of this fix has made this through the open source dev kit known as PSL1GHT.

    To quote:

    +============================+

    RSODfix Lv2diag tool

    +============================+

Last week someone found the *Proof of Concept* (POC) PUP/app in the wiki, awesome– people are looking in the wiki! But the dev who put it there, did so as a POC and hadn’t intended for it to be released yet because it required you to be able to install a pkg and run apps… something you couldn’t do necessarily if you were RSOD. Now, we present you with the FULL and COMPLETE solution!

Now, Fixing the Red Screen Of Death (RSOD) could not be any easier with this new tool! There have been methods in the past that accomplished the same goal, but certainly the difficulty of use hindered many from successfully recovering their beloved console. As a further commitment to you never needing a dongle again, we bring you this release to work in conjunction with our second release. “Look ma, no dongle!”

    Usage:
    ——
Place this Lv2diag.self in the root of an empty USB flash dongle, and use any method to toggle Factory Service Mode (FSM) (We’re partial to the second release we make today, but you can decide for yourself).

    1. Copy the .self in this release to the root of a USB flash drive.
    2. Rename the file to Lv2diag.self.
    3. Place the flash drive in the right most USB port.
    4. Toggle FSM.
    5. Boot PS3
    6. During FSM boot, the Lv2diag.self will execute.

Upon success, you will hear a single beep, and the playstation3 will automatically reboot to XMB. Upon failure, you will hear one or more beeps, and the playstation3 will shutdown. If you experience a failure, its likely due to your FLASH being corrupt beyond repair or a hardware problem, try it again– but if repeated attempts at these easy instructions still yield no results… The outlook looks grim.

    Information:
    ————
The RSOD is caused by a section of FLASH becoming corrupt, this tool causes that corrupt section to be recreated. During creation of this tool, the open-source ps3toolchain, and a slightly modified make_self were utilized. All code is original and makes use of no previously released or copyrighted code, this Lv2diag.self is made 100% with the PSL1GHT SDK so it can be shared freely and without concern for breaking any laws in your country. So, “no sony code inside!”

    FAQ:

Note: If you have a flasher, and you use this tool… be aware that with the RSOD lv2diag changes cvtrm. If you have a flasher and you use this, you need to make a new image, in fact, its a guarantee that your old flash images are no longer usable. Make new ones! Using an OLD flash image will *CAUSE* RSOD. Additionally, peruser/perconsole information will be reset so old trophies and savedata will not work… but that’s a small price to pay for getting your console recovered.

    Q: Why two releases?
A: Because they can be used independently and future plans are for more specific Lv2Diag.self’s to do different tasks to be released. We didn’t want there to be any confusion over what files to put together and how to use the separate tools.

Today, the developer here by the name of PsDev brings everyone an update to the famous PS3 ToolsGUI Edition style; all of the tools together in a neat little package I like to call PsDev’s “GUI Edition ” PS3 Tools, now making the process easier than ever before! And now, without any further ago, on to the release…

    FEATURES:

    • Can unpack any “PS3″ Firmware up to date. Gets really fast after first or second use.
    • a console is built into the program showing you the exact log a cmd would.
    • Can Decrypt PS3/PSP retail PKG files (Signed by sony installable via OFW).
    • Can readself of, Appldr, lv0, lv1ldr, lv2ldr, isoldr, EBOOT.BIN or if any of the things that you want to read are not listed on a button you can run a custom command to do it, for example: aim_spu_module.self just type that in where it says input and it will read it. So any file that is possible to use via readself, can be done in a fast manor 1-2 sec.
    • A full featured .Conf editor. view .Conf files edit them then hit save button when finished.
    • A awesome Core_os_package tool that can decrypt, extract and encrypt the Core_os_package.pkg all in about 1-2 sec.
    • Sign pkg for 3.55 or 3.41
    • UnSELF a file.
    • Build SELF a file.
    • Whenever a tar file is modified, it’s permissions need to be set, this tool can do that for you. fix the tar file for the following FW. retail fw up to 3.72, debug fw up to 3.72 and retail and debug fw 4.0.

So some where around 20+ total things this multi ps3 tool can do

in to a ps3 file type of some sort in a faster time than any other program around, faster than the cmd line tools.

And the best thing is it’s really simple, 12 year old kids could do it.

    HOW TO USE:

Lets use a example: If you want to unpack a ps3 update just get the PS3UPDAT.PUP

(Don’t change the name of any file in ps3 FW keep original) and put in tool folder, run

my program click unpack and it will unpack it.

so like if you want to fix tar make sure the update_files.tar stays the same name and put in the main folder where program is located. same for anyfile keep the original name. So it’s pretty simpe just drag the file that you want the tool to do something with and keep the original name.

Here is a video I made (I am pretty bad a videos) to help it’ a tutorial that covers everything. If some one else could make a better one that would be awesome

PS3Tools GUI Edition Tutorial. – YouTube

    NOTES:

PS3Tools GUI Edition will create two new files for the Core_os_package. “decrypted_core_os” and “CORE_OS_PACKAGE_ENCRYPTED.pkg” don’t change the name of the decrypted one or else you won’t be able to encrypt it

    BETA TESTER THOUGHTS:

    Tested by jhax78

all those command line tools that takes loads of time

and sometimes commands that you need to understand will be replaced by this 1 click tool

even a trained monkey could extract repack sign with this now

it’s taking literally 3 seconds to extract a pup resign or whatever you need to do

im no dev but like to poke around in stuff and i think more ppl think like this

with this tool all that is just peanuts now

PS3 developer Kakaroto, has been hard at work on jailbreaking 4.00 firmware. He has taken the time to explain and talk about the ECDSA algorithm. With the ECDSA being as complex as it is, Kakaroto tries to simplify what the algorithm is. Here is a short quote from his website.

To popular demand, I have decided to try and explain how the ECDSA algorithm works. I’ve been struggling a bit to understand it properly and while I found a lot of documentation about it, I haven’t really found any “ECDSA for newbies” anywhere. So I thought it would be good to explain in simple terms how it works so others can learn from my research. I have found some websites that explain the basic principles but nowhere near enough to actually understand it, others that explains things without any basics, making it incomprehensible, and others that go way too deep into the the mathematics behind it.

Interesting developments have been brewing over the PS3Hax forums the last 24 hours. PS3Hax member El Nomeo dropped by yesterday leaking the PS3 PhreEngine. More importantly he claims that he has leaked the full 3.70 PS3 SDK. We are currently labeling this news as a rumor as we do not have credible confirmation on if this is the full 3.70 SDK, but we are getting this news out now to inform the community.

    To quote:

I’ve always wanted to give something back to the community and here it is.

SDK 3.70 will be uploaded soon, having troubles with my connection! PhreEngine Link Below.

Hopefully someone will figure out a way of having this usable with PSL1GHT.

Install it by running the PhyreInstaller.exe, then when its done go to C:/PhyreEngine3006/Tools and run PhyreLevelEditor.exe. Navigate the viewport using the mouse wheel to zoom in and out, hold alt key and click the left mouse button to rotate. Change the viewport by selecting the X Y Z values in the top left. To load a samples navigate to Media and select one in there.

Also for those who like tearing apart self files the levels generate their self files in the Tools folder.

    Link to PhyreEngine:
    http://www.slingfile.com/file/h6J1wfohDe

Make sure you follow the PhyreEngine_Getting_Started_e.pdf, in the Docs folder. Then you can run the samples on your PC. Controls in the samples are:
    Forward: A
    Backwards: Z
    Turn Left: O
    Turn right: P
Sure you can find the rest when your running it.

Will Follow up with the 3.70 SDK later.

    Enjoy!

    UPDATE 1:
    ETA 2/3AM GMT for SDK.

    UPDATE 2:
Anyone found anything kool on the phyreengine yet? Abit premature i know (thats what she said) but ive discovrerd how easy it is to import and drag into map, try http://www.turbosquid.com/Search/3D-Models/free/dae for more .dae models, looks like they may need physics.

    UPDATE 3:
Had some troubles last night with uploading, its doing it right and should be ready in about 4 hours, apollogies for the delay.

    UPDATE 4:
Third part is almost done, you should see links cropping up in the next two hours.

    UDAPTE 5:
Right ive finished uploading, somebody is sorting it out and you will see links soon. Heres a screenshot of the SDK Manager to show its version:

Over at PS3Hax IRC, the download links of the NZB file for the 3.70 full SDK are available, and can be grabbed below:

[NZB Files for full 3.70 PS3 SDK] – File size is ~2.4gb

[Download Recovery files for NZB (if you need it)]

We will keep you informed on the latest developments on this story. You can read up the developments live at the read more/discuss in forums link (threads merged with El Nomeo). And remember we are labeling the news as a “FULL 3.70″ SDK as a rumor until we have confirmation from more devs.

Stay tuned for more exciting scene updates only at PS3Hax.

PS3Hax member sandungas, has released his own hand-made-from-scratch fake Blu Ray structures. This is mainly for developers and better understanding of the PS3 system, so if you are not a dev this news is not for you. The files released are used to understand and help document the structure of all valid CATEGORY values.

    To quote readme:

    Blu-Ray fake discs by sandungas
    ————————————————

These are “fake” Blu-Ray structures with the minimall parameters inside SFO’s/SFX’s and the needed HYBRID_FLAG’s inside PS3_DISC.SFB
All the files are 100% hand made from scratch and tested, reduced to the minimall needed to work with the purpose of understand the structure and to document all valid CATEGORY values

All them can be mounted with any “backup manager” like a normal game, mixed with a real game to add content like patches, to make a video disc with all the chapters of a video serie, etc…
The other way to “play” with this is by experimenting different values and structures looking for “non standard” uses, using them in combination with other tweaks from cfw, etc… feel free to experiment

All the .replaceme files are dummyes (0kb) replace them with the correct file/name/format
All the names of the .txt files are explanatory of the contents of the SFO’s/SFX’s … can be removed, but its not necesary, the system will ignore them

More information can be found at the READ MORE link at authors original post.

PS3Hax member aldostools has released a nice homebrew tool he is calling: CreatePS3EXTRA

What does it do? To quote:

It scans for the PKG, MP4 and P3T files copied to each game folder or its PS3_UPDATE folder, and store them under a PS3_EXTRA structure. When a game is mounted with multiMAN, there will be 2 BD icons on the XMB: one disc for the game itself and another with PKGs, MP4 and P3T. It should make it easier to install the game patches, DLC, fixes, and related videos.

    - Decrypt index.dat
    - Decrypt Core_OS
    - Unpack Core_OS

    $./pup_unpacker.exe

    PUP Unpacker & Decrypter v2.2
    By Evilnat

    Usage: pup_unpacker.exe [OPTION] filename.pup directory
    Example: pup_unpacker.exe -all PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW355

    Options (ONLY CHOOSE ONE):

    -h, –help displays this help
-x, –un-pup unpack PUP files only
    -e, –un-tar unpack update_files.tar of PUP only
-c, –deun-core decrypt and unpack Core_OS of PUP file only
-t, –deun-tar decrypt and unpack TAR files of PUP only
-p, –deun-pkg decrypt and unpack all PKG files of PUP only
-s, –de-self decrypt all SELF files of PUP only
-i, –de-index unpack and decrypt index.dat of PUP only
-v, –conv-vag unpack and convert VAG to WAV files of PUP only
-r, –deun-rco decrypts and unpack RCO files of PUP only
-all, –deun-all unpack and decrypt entire PUP files

    __________________________________________________________________________________________________

    - Usage:

    1) Unpack folder of RAR on your home directory in Cygwin (C:cygwinhomeXXXXUnpacker)
    2) Copy PS3UPDAT.PUP file you want in it
    3) Open Cygwin’s console and enter the folder
    4) And type: (OFW_355 is an example, you can change this)

    ./pup_unpacker.exe [OPTION] PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW_355

    [ Example: ./pup_unpacker.exe -all PS3UPDAT.PUP OFW_355 ]

    5) Now depending what option you had choosen the executable will do it all automatically

All is done, “dev_decrypted_unpacked” folders contain self decrypted files

This program requires certain exe files and PS3 keys that are included in RAR, DONґT DELETE THEM
If an error occurs it will stop automatically, showing what has happened
    Hope this helps someone

A while ago, a pre release of showtime v.3.4 was released, now the developer has been kind enough to provide us with Showtime v.3.4. A few quick notes:

PS3HaX Developer DeViL303 has updated XMB File Manager(XMBFM), he has two versions and they are both included in the download.

D = Works on Debug Rebug Menu
R = Works on 3.55 OFW/Kmeaw and Retail Rebug Menu

Here is a quote from the thread:

I have updated the release to XMBFM Beta v0.03D and XMBFM Beta v0.03R (with D suffix for 3.55 Debug XMBs and R suffix for 3.55 Retail XMBs)

Gonna Change the suffix next time a its confussing because “R” could be for Rebug but it not, it should work on any 3.55 retail xmb, 3.55 kmeaw , 3.55 Official FW, rebug 3.55 retail xmb(in rebug mode) etc.

Download XMBFM Beta v0.03D and XMBFM Beta v0.03R
