Iris Manager 1.52 has been released, here is the change log:

• Added check size when copying games (for the HDD if it is greater than the size + 1GB, aborts, in the case of USB if it is greater than the size + 1MB gives the possibility to abort).
• Added the default BD-Emu not mount the HDD: now you have two options, new and old, with a touch more later.
• Some parts of the code have been retouched, if influence random crashes when starting the program.
• The patch tools have been unified in the same zip file.

The guys from ps3ita.it have released Iris Manager v1.40 for their ps3ita 4.21 DEX cfw. It is also compatible with Rebug CEX and DEX modes.

For those who do not know, Iris Manager is the only backup manager developed with Legal tools (PSL1GHT). Unlike Multiman, this tool does not care much about frills, Iris Manager simply does its job well running backups.

It Has minimal graphics but its fast (and you wont get lost among a thousand options). It occupies very little hard disc space (1MB), so you can save valuable space (a popular backup manager uses HD space as a cache and more space to store the covers, and can take more than 1GB).

Another point in favor of this manager is that it is completely open source (Multiman NO!), Anyone can update with new features and port to any cfw . Before today the manager only supported the CEX firmwares ( 3.55, 4.21 and 4.30) but no DEX CFW , so we decided to make it compatible with our CFW PS3ita 4.21 DEX.

In the future we will do the Italian translation and maybe adding some nice and exclusive features. The manager is also compatible with CEX and DEX Rebug modes

Few weeks ago some people requested a ‘minimalistic’ version of multiMAN. For them I created this package:

This is a skinned down version (BARE). It can be installed on any PS3 without the need of a previous mM installation. It is like a “base” but the differences are:

* Simple theme (2MB) (no theme music)
* No GUI translations (English only)
* No user fonts (only system fonts will be used)
* No PS1/PS2/PSP names/IDs database (no game names will be displayed)
* AIOMOD not included (old BD-Mirror method for USB games will be used on 4.21+CFWs)

Do not use it unless you’re the one who asked for it. BARE can be installed on any firmware for normal users who don’t really need any of the listed above features. Of course NONE of these features are present in other BUMs so everyone should be happy. It can be installed on top of your current mM if you wish to test it (you will not notice much difference, because you already have the fonts/translations/aiomod/themes installed).

This bare version is suitable for:

* English speaking users
* All 3.41/3.55 (non Cobra/TB) firmwares
* All 4.21+ firmwares (disc may be required when booting bd-mirror USB games if AIOMOD.BIN is not present)
* Weeners who complain all the time that 130MB is too much for a stupid PS3 homebrew like mM

The following text is from deank, the developer of multiMAN. He claims in multiMAN version 04.15.00 it is possible to connect 2 PS3′s (anywhere in the world) and copy or share data without a USB drive or PC.

Here is something some of you may find useful

Some of you used “Network Servers” option in “Settings” to connect to a PC running ps3netsrv to copy files, play ROMs, play music or view pictures.

Now it is possible to connect to ANOTHER PS3 (running mM 04.15.00) be it in your local LAN or anywhere in the world.

You can copy/share data with another PS3 if the ‘server’ PS3 is running mM 04.15.00 and the ‘client’ PS3 can be using mM 04.00.00 or later.

You can backup games directly from the BD Disc of the server PS3, view photos, play music, install PKG files, copy games, access all devices connected to the server PS3, if you’re on cobra cfw you can even play PS1/PS3 games or Blu-ray/DVD movies stored on the server PS3.

You can transfer game backups, movies and data from one PS3 to another without a USB drive or PC.

All in all – you can transfer/share data between to PS3s on CFW via the /net_host feature of multiMAN.

This is a small handy tool for installing PKG files via the “bubble”/PSN method. It may be handy for Rogero 4.30CFW ver. 2.00 users. Rogero is preparing a firmware version which will have it ‘build-in’ in /dev_flash so you won’t need multiMAN and you can’t break/delete it, since it will appear in [/app_home] when you boot the PS3 and will come preinstalled.

It comes with background running FTP server and /dev_blind mounted (for write access to /dev_flash).

Also online is mM 04.13.00 with a fix for Hermes payload for Rogero 4.30CFW v2:

* Fixed issue with Hermes payload on 4.30CEX Rogero ver 2.00
- 4+GB split files caching from USB and “Ext. Game Data” game option now work
* Added standalone application “* Install Package Files”
- RELOAD.SELF from the application can be used in other homebrew tools to install PKG files via the bubble-method
- Install Package Files app works on all firmwares

stDISC and gameDATA apps will be available later for Rogero 4.30CFW v2.
