Firstly, i hate the word jailbreak, but as so many people call hacking the PS3, jailbreaking, that is what i will call it for this guide.
Secondly, the old guides are outdated and need refreshed.

    (Q) Why Would I Hack/Jailbreak My PS3 ?
    (A) Hacking your PS3, gives you so many new option’s, you will be able to use emulators, homebrew apps and game backups as well as being able to use Linux, after Sony removed the function in firmware 3.21.

    CFW(Custom Firmware)/MFW(Modified Firmware)

    (Q) CFW/MFW Or Dongle ?
    (A) CFW/MFW is the way to go, dongles are dead and you should not be using them.

    (Q) Which PS3 Consoles Can Be Jailbroken
(A)here is a list taken from the PS3 Dev Wiki
    SKU Models

or you can take a look at this image:
     photo x4i6shO_zps9f4b8062.jpg

    (Q) Which PS3 Consoles cannot be Jailbroken
    (A) 3K and 4K consoles(Some Slim and all Super Slim)

    (Q) Is there a firmware my PS3 should be on ?
    (A) The most recent Rebug or Rogero seems to be the most desired

    (Q) What Firmwares cannot be hacked yet ?
    (A) Firmwares from 3.56 upwards are un-jailbreakable at the moment, perhaps it will remain that way, or perhaps we will see a break through in the future, only time will tell.

    (Q) How do i install the latest 4xx CFW/MFW
    (A) You should follow these guides:
[TUT] How to install the latest 4.XX CFW’s
Nicolas’ MiralaTijera CFW 4.40 NooB Tutorial
[Video Tutorial] How To Install 4.30 PS3 CFW (From 3.55 CFW)

    (Q) I have found some CFW/MFW on the internet, how do i know it is real ?
Use this application, it will help you identify a real or fake CFW/MFW:

    Downgrading

    (Q) When i bought my PS3, the firmware was above 3.55/My family member updated my console when i was out :( , how can i have jailbreak my console ?
    (A) You need to downgrade your PS3, this is rather a tedious process, involving soldering several wires to your PS3, but in the future we will have solderless models of these products, for information on how to downgrade, check these threads:
Ultimate Fool Proof Guide: Ps3 Hardware Downgrading
[Tutorial] E3 Flasher: Fast Swap Dual Guide For All OFW/CFW

Q.) Can 4.xx CFW be installed on 4.xx OFW ?
A.) NO, NO and NO, you need to DOWNGRADE to a 3.55 Firmware.

    Q.) Can i Software Downgrade from 4.xx OFW ?
A.) NO, at the moment you MUST, use a Hardware Flasher, like Progskeet or E3, if you are comfortable with soldering, then Progskeet is the recommended device.

    Q.) Can i brick my PS3 installing a 4.xx CFW ?
A.) Yes, as with all OFW’s or CFW’s you have a chance of bricking, with CFW’s your chances of bricking become a lot higher, when you dont read.

    Q.) Can i brick my PS3 by downgrading ?
A.) Of course you can, but most bricks occur due to user error.

Q.) Who is to blame for any bricks ?
A.) You as the user are, most bricks are down to user error, take your time to read, take your time to understand, take all the time possible and have some patience, it will pay off and be rewarding in the end.

Q.) I want to downgrade my PS3, but im either too afraid or i have zero soldering skills, can someone do it for me ?
A.) Well doing something yourself, is always rewarding, but if you don’t have the confidence, you don’t have the confidence, so you can ask anyone from the trusted downgraders thread:
    Trusted PS3 Downgrade Providers

    Future Software Methods

Q.) Will there ever be a method to upgrade from straight from 4.xx OFW to 4.xx CFW ?
A.) We are but mere mortals, we are not psychic, the only advice that one can give you is, be patient and wait until the PlayStation 4 is released.

Q.) Will there ever be a method to Software Downgrade from 4.xx ?
A.) We are but mere mortals, we are not psychic, the only advice that one can give you is, be patient and wait until the PlayStation 4 is released.

    Homebrew/Backups

    (Q) Ok so i have CFW installed, how do i run homebrew ?
    (A) In the game section, you will see “Install Package Files”, you will be able to install all your homebrew and backup managers from there, just a note though, the PKG files that you are installing, need to be on the root of your FAT32 formatted thumbdrive/external HDD.

    (Q) I need a backup manager, what should i use
    (A)
    Iris Manager
    multiMAN

    Storage Options

    (Q) What are my storage options for backing up games(This really 0nly applies to Fat PS3′s) ?

(A.1) You can backups certain games to CD/DVD/BD disc’s, read here for more information.
(A.2) You can install games on the PS3′s internal HDD or use an External USB HDD, which needs to be formatted to FAT32, you can also use a FAT32 USB Thumb Drive, note that with FAT32 you are limited to games with single files under 4GB, if you prefer all your games to be on the internal HDD, you can get up to 1TB 2.5? HDD, or you can use the Xecuter PS3 HDXT method and have your internal HDD on the outside of the machine, the benefit of this, is that you can use 3.5? Sata and IDE HDD’s as internal storage.

Some more PS3 HDD Information submitted by ieder-zijn-meis(Thanks again)
    - maximum height is 9,5mm (many 2.5? drives above 640GB are too high too fit inside)
    - maximum PS3 filesystem is 1TB (512KB block size)
    - maximum FAT32 theoretical size is 8TB, practical limit on the PS3 is 2TB
    - 7200rpm can be used, as well as Flashdrives (although the 1/5th lower loadingtime of GTA5 can be considered too low to justify the higher pricetag of SATA Flashdrives.
    - SATAII-300 can be used, although it will work on SATA1-150 speed interface.
    - If using external 3.5? drives hooked up to the internal SATA, you’ll need an external powersupply (some drivebays include them).
    - If on low budget or you like DIY: use a normal extension (male to female) SATA cable (and make sure it doesn’t get loose) and recycle the case + powersupply of an external USB harddisk (without using the USB connection/conversion).
    - Don’t use RAID or SAN drives with (e)SATA interface, just a plain single drive with a bare SATA connector (many controllers don’t work without drivers/software).
    - Games can be hardcoded for BluRay speeds (9MB/s) so sticking a 85~220MB/s harddrive inside will not speedup everything/allways (but most do).
    - If you plan on exchanging the drive, download the full PUP of your FW you are using and put it on an USB Mass Storage Device formatted with FAT32 in PS3UPDATEPS3UPDAT.PUP and disconnect the LAN before re powering the PS3 (or you’ll bound to end up with the latest (3.55 now) unjailbreakable/undowngradable version).
    - Use a good fitting X screwdriver, the screws fitted to the HD<>tray are made of very soft aluminum.

Here is a tutorial, by forum member Invi, on how to an External IDE HDD Case and use it as Internal Storage:
HowTo: Use an external IDE HDD Case to connect an Internal 3,5″ Sata HDD as PS3 HDD.

    ODDE’s

    (Q) As stated above, 3K and 4K consoles cannot be jailbroken, so am i out of luck as far as Homebrew and Backups are concerned ?
    (A) No, there are a a few devices that will help you play backups and homebrew, they are called ODDE’s, the name of these ODDE’s are E3, 3K3Y and Cobra, you can find information here:
3K3Y ODDE all you need to know: Info/links/etc

    [Pros/Cons]: Cobra and 3K3Y
My advise is to find a machine that you can downgrade, spend your money on this before wasting money on an ODDE

I was sitting on holiday a couple of weeks ago, thinking about the day PS Jailbreak was revealed, i knew that its birthday was coming up and thought id write an article about it, but when the time came, it totally slipped my mind, until today.

Anyhow, three years ago on the 18th of August 2010 news broke on PSX Scene that a device was about to be released that would let us play backups on our PS3′s, here is the very first video of said device:

To read the original article, check this thread:
    PS Jailbreak

PS Jailbreak was released at an extremely high price, but was soon reversed, leading to PSGroove and PSFreedom, open source alternatives.

As most of you know, i dislike dongles, but if it hadn’t of been for PS Jailbreak, the machine still might not be hacked, so thank you Sony for giving people the inspiration to release a hacking device for the PS3.

  • Posted by GregoryRasputin , on 20/07/2012 , @ 04:21pm

It may be hard to believe, but it is almost two years since PS Jailbreak was released, reversed, the PS3 free’d and then locked back up again, a lot has gone on since then, Sony scaring away “hackers” and many other events.

The PS3 should be free as the Wii and Xbox 360, but the people that are truly capable of pwning the PS3 are either too scared or just cant be bothered with the drama associated with the PS3 Scene.

It is of course 2012 and i see threads every day, asking how to jailbreak ones PS3, so i am creating this article in a hope to help those that need it, this
is my fourh F.A.Q, for those of you wishing to read my previous ones, visit here.

    (Q) Why Would I Hack/Jailbreak My PS3 ?
    (A) Hacking your PS3, gives you so many new option’s, you will be able to use emulators, homebrew apps and game backups as well as being able to use Linux, after Sony removed the function in firmware 3.21.

    (Q) Is there a firmware my PS3 should be on ?
    (A) It seems the preferable firmwares are 3.15(For the real OtherOS), 3.41(The original “Jailbreak” firmware) and 3.55(the first CFW PS3), 3.55 is the favourite and most used.

    (Q) What Firmwares cannot be hacked yet ?
    (A) 3.56 to 4.21 are unhackable at the moment, perhaps it will remain that way, or perhaps we will see a break through in the future, only time will tell.

    (Q) But when i bought my PS3, the firmware was above 3.55/My family member updated my console when i was out :( , how can i have Homebrew ?
    (A) All hope isn’t lost, you can downgrade your consoles firmware with hardware, here is a list:

    • Infectus
    • Progskeet
    • Teensy 2.0++/NORway
    • PNM
    • Noraliser
    • PIC32MX
    • E3

    Visit here for more information:

    • PS3 Dev Wiki - Hardware Flashing.

    (Q) Which PS3 Consoles cannot be downgraded ?

    (A) Unfortunately there are some consoles that cannot at this stage be downgraded, these are certain models of CECH-25xx, 3K models and 4K models, for more info, check here:

    • Checking console capability of running 3.55

    (Q) Downgrading was a pain, i don’t want to go through that again, is there a way i can protect my PS3 from accidental upgrading ?
    (A) You can use Team Rebugs firmware spoofer, it spoofs the firmware, so that when someone attempts to update the PS3, via internet, the PS3 tells them they are already on the highest firmware, as an extra precaution, you should remove your consoles access to the internet, when you are not around, you can grab your spoofer, from the offical Rebug site here.

    (Q) What Firmwares are available for me to install
    (A) There are many different versions of MFW, but the most popular are:

    • Rogero
    • Rebug
    • Kmeaw

    (Q) How do i install CFW ?
    (A) If you aren’t already on 3.55, you will need to update to the official Sony firmware, then install a CFW via recovery, Pirate wrote a great guide, which you can read here:
[Tutorial] How to play and install Backups with Kmeaw CFW+PSN without risk of brick or itskamel’s NOOB JAILBREAK GUIDE

    (Q) Ok so i have CFW installed, how do i run homebrew ?
    (A) You will see in the game section, you will see “Install Package Files”, you will be able to install all your homebrew and backup managers from there, just a note though, the PKG files that you are installing, need to be on the root of your FAT32 formatted thumbdrive/external HDD.

    (Q) Now that i have updated to 3.55 CFW, is there a list of working homebrew app’s/games ?
    (A) Here are a few links:

    (Q) How do i run backups ?
    (A) You will need a backup manager, it seems that only two are being used at the moment:

    • Rogero’s Rogero Manager
    • deank’s Cobra endorsed mmCM

    (Q) I have games that require 3.56 firmware and above, how do i play them ?
    (A) The only easy option available is a reDRM device called True Blue(TB), you can buy the piece of shit or one of its clones, we aren’t a sell-out site like TBCrunch, so we will not link to such devices, though if you have a TB Device, there are members like Adamsville on the forum who will help you, my stance as many others on this forum is:

But as i said, Adamsville will help, if needed.

    (Q) There surely has to be a free method for playing backups ?
    (A) Up until recently, the diseased reDRM device was the only way, but recently a CEX>Dex conversion was leaked and that paved the way to running backups which require a higher firmware.

    (Q) How do i convert my PS3 from Cex>Dex ?
    (A) There are a few ways, though this is an extremely dangerous method for your PS3, if you do not know what you are doing, you will brick, check here for some help:

    (Q) How do i run backups on a Cex>Dex converted PS3 ?
    (A) There are different methods popping up, here is one:

    (Q) What are my storage options for backing up games ?

(A.1) You can backups certain games to CD/DVD/BD disc’s, read here for more information.
(A.2) You can install games on the PS3′s internal HDD or use an External USB HDD, which needs to be formatted to FAT32, you can also use a FAT32 USB Thumb Drive, note that with FAT32 you are limited to games with single files under 4GB, if you prefer all your games to be on the internal HDD, you can get up to 1TB 2.5? (Q) Now that i am on 3.55, can i install Linux ?
    (A) Follow this thread.

    (Q) Ok im fed up with using my thumb drive, is there a way to download apps directly to the PS3.
    (A) Yes,you will need to instal “Package Installer”, then you will be able to FTP the apps to the “packages” folder on your PS3, you can find more about that here.

    (Q) Ok so i have backed up a game, i want to save that game to my computer as an extra backup, or i want to mod the game, how do i transfer it from my PS3.
    (A) There are two methods, FTP, there are three of those at the moment:

    Alternatively you can use

    • Comgenies Awesome Filemanager

    or

if you cant use FTP, or have an External HDD, Comgenies Filemanager is the best choice.

    (Q) I want to be able to create my own Homebrew, is it possible.

(A.1) Yes, using the Open Source PS3 SDK, named PSL1GHT, you can create Homebrew, PSL1GHT was created by AerialX, read about it here.

(A.2) You can use the Official Sony SDK, it is reported that this is better for creating homebrew, than the open source version.

    (Q) I backed up a few of my movies to .AVI and .MKV formats, but when i try and play them through Showtime, or stream them via PS3Media Server, i get a Cinavia warning, is there any way past this ?
    (A) You can install this app:

    • Disable Cinavia Installer (3.41 & 3.55)(By Team Rebug)

    (Q) Can play PS2/PS1 backups on my Jailbroken PS3 ?
(A.1) You can use this method, it lets you use Swap Magic to load PS2 backups on your PS3, the only consoles allowed, are those that are Backwards Compatible, this option also works on a non Jailbroken PS3, even with firmware 3.70
(A.2) You can use the Cobra USB dongle, to play PS1 or PS2 backups on your Jailbroken PS3, it is compatible with firmwares 3.41 and 3.55.
(A.3) You can use this method to play PS1 backups on firmware 3.41 and 3.55.

    (Q) Can i use internet and play online with CFW/JB, what about PSN/SEN etc ?
    (A) Yes, browser with apps for 3.55 and lower works online except PSN/SEN, online gaming is possible only via X/BS/link/ai on PC, if game has LAN option:
    Playing online via XBSlink
    Thanks spok

    (Q) The PS3 boot up logo annoys me, can i change it ?
    (A) Indeed you can, you can change both the visual and audio, these logos are called ColdBoots, you can either:

    (Q) The PS3 seems to have went on an epic journey, where can i read more about it ?
    (A) You can check out www.ps3history.net

    (Q) If i need help that is not mentioned in this F.A.Q, what should i do ?
    (A) You could either ask the question in this article, or ask your question in the forums help section here.
You can also check the PS3 Dev Wiki

First Gen dongles and second gen: A never ending ping/pong game.

You may remember when the *first gen* of dongles used microcontrollers = PIC or ATMEL.
In that time appeared P3GO with a CPU of 500MHZ (pretty powerful) = Open source Released on 2010.

The thing here is that 6 months later PS3USERCHEAT releases a dongle with the same hardware inside as P3GO.

Then when a prudential time passed away, P3GO releases a firmware that was a clon of ps3usercheat. As well a cloned *code unique*.
    ———————————
Here the situation starts to gets *confusing* and amusing at the same time:

P3GO was and is the ONLY dongle capable of:

    1) Letting you install a dev’s firmware
    2) Allowing you to make your own MFW
    3) And even had a SDK to do payloads.
    ————————

Today we have Cobra/TB/and many clones and a possible release of E3 team. (second gen ones).
Now we can ask ourselves..The obvious facts:

Someone tested in this ones, especially in P3GO a dev with good programming skills knowledge on SDK in that time (Even in this time) Can do (insert what you think here) the hell he/she wants.

They used some good powefull hardware that PS3GO haves to trial and error tests and possibly this is the *Father* of all you see today in the market.
As far as i know they never took into the equation the fact of 4.11 OFW, they used a big and phat bad ass dongle as P3GO to do the *work*. And to clon a clon (paradox) in order to get more profits.

Here a List organized by date and detail of PS3GO releases by Sandungas:

    P3GO official releases:
    2010 september ??? - P3GO GT-break released
Gamebox.hk announces “P3GO GT-break” a “next generation” dongle with impressive technical characteristics: 32bits@500MHz CPU, 16MB SDRAM, 128MB NAND, microSD card slot, linux support, a promised open SDK, and some onboard features like drag&drop updates, dual boot, etc…
The dongle comes with a clone of “gaia backup manager” preinstalled in path /dev_usb000/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN (root of P3GO NAND), the program is mounted automatically at app_home/PS3_GAME/ icon in XMB game column
    packages included in the P3GO NAND: backup manager_V2.pkg, ftpserver_12.pkg, GMAN74113.pkg, OpenManager1.17.2.pkg, UP0001-GAIA01985_00-7679866932773369-GAMEZ.pkg
    20101022 - P3GO firmware v2
Dual boot (from NAND or from microSD card)
    20101026 - P3GO firmware v3
Fixed a bug in HDD permissions
    20101111 - P3GO firmware v04
Updater from nand (not needed a microSD card to update)
    PSN fixes
    20101112 - P3GO firmware v05
    Stability fixes
    20101116 - P3GO firmware v06 (bugged)
    PSN fixes
    Spoof 3.50
    PL3 fixes
    20101118 - P3GO firmware v07
    Previous bug fixed
Dongle firmware version is displayed in PC & PS3
    20101118 - P3GO firmware v08 (development)
    Special development version
    Released open SDK
    20101126 - P3GO firmware v09
Support the Hex files of all versions AVR/PIC (firmwares from other dongles of the first generation)
    20101129 - Recover tool
Released the frst version of the recover tool, a low level program that can restore the normal operation of the dongle by overwriting his bootloader
The file fw.bin (that seems to be the bootloader) and the drivers for windows (when the dongle is connected to the pc in “recover mode” is recognized by windows as a new hardware device) are the same than the next release of the recover tool and the ps3usercheat “fix_it” tool
    20101208 - P3GO firmware v10
Announced as “downgrade support” is a “PS3 service mode” payload integrated in the dongle firmware
    2011 march ??? - PS3usercheat released
The hardware is the same than P3GO, theorically are resellers or both shares a common manufacturer
The dongle comes with a cheat software “codeunique v1″ that is an improved clone of “gaia backup manager” installed in the onboard NAND of the dongle, is mounted automatically at APP_HOME icon in XMB
    20110326 - P3GO firmware v11 (for ofw 3.41)
Support the cheat function and can load the game from the hard disk
This release includes “Code Manager v1″ (his ICON0.PNG says “code freak by cybergadget”, and the program contains several logos of ps3usercheat)
Code Manager needs to be installed in path /dev_usb000/CHT/USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN (root of P3GO NAND), the program is mounted automatically at app_home/PS3_GAME/ icon in XMB game column
    Spoof 3.66
    20110522 - P3GO firmware v12 (for cfw 3.55 kmeaw)
    Support for 3.55 cfw
New version of “recover tool” (seems there are some differences with the previous version of recover, e.g: the NAND OOBSIZE value in USBBoot.cfg)
There was a re-release of this package (im not sure if comes from the official page) that includes 2 cloned copies of “code unique”: CODEUNIQUE_355_auto_detect.pkg, and CHET11111_ONLY CHEAT_355.pkg (“code unique v2.0″ clones reselfed and repackaged?)
There is also an announce that some users reported failures when installing v12 firmware in first generation boards (the green ones) they announce to recover the dongle with the “recover tool” (honestly? this was a mess, it depends of the firmware installed in the dongle and they never said the recover versions was different, is not clear wich one to use for each type of brick/board)
    Next moths…
All references from the v12 release are erased from the official web (gamebox.hk) and all download links broken during months, no more support

In the last release documented of P3GO contained a program to flash it on *recover mode*….(go figure).
This generated some serious *dongle bricks* since you can do the the *recover mode* joining two pads with a wire.

Many people said that P3GO SDK is *limited* but we don’t know how limited it’s is, you can do payloads and today is pretty useless. (Since we have more *hardcore* dongles with better encryption and better security).
Maybe the SDK released by them was half-complete or infact incomplete.
But with *recover tool* you have the chance to install your own BOOTLOADER.
This opens a wide spectrum of possibilities as well when the P3GO was released for first time they showed a nice AD = With LINUX support.

It’s very limited the data i can post today, i will update later.
But keep this in mind and please feel free to contribute not with MONEY. But information and PS3usercheat dongle.

Sandungas as well as the users doing some serious research on this. Needs:

    1) If someone wants to complete the releases list of PS3USERCHEAT, doing so we have a better view and all the *code unique* versions.
    2) Someone WILLING to DONATE a PS3USERCHEAT dongle. Is MORE than welcome.

Will we keep this up, and updated.

Many people have varied opinions on how the “scene” should support TB2, and generally there has been 2 groups: those that love the dongle for their work, and those that despise it for plaguing the scene. However, new news over from the TB2 website giving basically a threat to all TB2 cloners:

A warning to those considering or having already purchased a True Blue clone: we have previously implemented special anti-clone technology in the True Blue firmware which accurately detects clones and when such a clone is detected, will activate one of several effects at random intervals, such as erasing the internal PS3 HDD. The recent JBKing 2.5 software update is especially affected by these measures; anyone using this clone will be subject to data loss as a result of random HDD erasure as well as other effects. Other anti-clone measures are now being developed and will be deployed shortly.

Clones of True Blue will be blocked and future EBOOT’s will not function with such devices. It is therefore important that users, in the interests of enjoyment and to avoid wasting money on trivially detectable clones, should purchase only original True Blue devices

Clearly quite an “asshole” move by them. Is this a sign that TB2 is about to get cracked and are moving to panic mode? Or is this threat just a bluff? Let us know via comments below.

Please refrain from flaming…we all know everyones stance on the DRM dongles here.

The EFF otherwise known as the Electronic Frontier Foundation, is always fighting for the little guy, their latest campaign is to get Jailbreaking of all devices seen as legal, this of course including the PS3, here is a quote from the source:

The Problem – Smartphones, tablets, and video game consoles are powerful computers with lots of untapped potential. Yet many of these devices are set up to run only software that’s been approved by the manufacturer.  Modifying a device to run independent software – known as jailbreaking – is important to programmers, enthusiasts, and users. But jailbreaking creates legal uncertainty. Some device manufacturers claim that jailbreaking violates Section 1201 of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), which carries stiff penalties.

The Solution – EFF is asking the U.S. Copyright Office to declare that jailbreaking does not violate the DMCA, and we need your help. In 2010, the Copyright Office said jailbreaking smartphones doesn’t violate the DMCA.  This year, we’re asking them to renew that exemption (otherwise it will expire) and expand it to cover tablets. We’re also asking for a new exemption to allow jailbreaking of video game consoles.

How You Can Help – The Copyright Office needs to hear from people who depend on the ability to jailbreak to write, use, and/or tinker with independent software (from useful apps to essential security fixes) for smartphones, tablets, and game consoles. You can submit comments online at this link.

Here are some questions you might want to address in your comments:

    1. Which jailbreaking exemption are you supporting—smartphones/tablets, video game consoles, or both?
    2. What’s your background (i.e., are you a developer, hobbyist, academic, independent researcher, user, etc.)?
    3. What device do you want to ensure you have the legal authority to jailbreak?
    4. Please explain why you want to jailbreak this device. What limitations do you face if you aren’t able to jailbreak it? Is there software you couldn’t run, computing capabilities you wouldn’t have, cool things you couldn’t do, etc.?
    5. If you’re a developer, did an online application store or console manufacturer reject your app or game? If so, what reasons did they give?
    6. Is there anything else you want to tell the Copyright Office?

Concrete examples will help show the Copyright Office why they should renew and expand the exemptions for jailbreaking. Send your comments to the Copyright Office athttp://www.copyright.gov/1201/comment-forms/. Where the form says “Comment number(s) of proposed classes of works to which you are responding,” enter a “3” if you’re writing about game consoles or a “5” if you’re writing about smartphones or tablets. You mightconsider also entering a “4″ to submit your comments in support of an exemption request proposed by the Software Freedom Law Center to allow jailbreaking of “personal computing devices.”

Comments are due by February 10 at 5 PM Eastern Time. After you send comments to the Copyright Office, please also send a copy of your comments to [email protected] so that we can see what people are saying.

We also encourage you to sign this petition.

For over a week, we have been debating about this new Jailbreak Device, dubbed “JB2″, not a lot of information was known about and many of us slammed it as a rumour, but with reverse engineering of certain eboots and the CFW a little bit more was revealed and we started realising that perhaps there was some validity in the claims, you can read the old discussion here.

Today GaryOPA from PS3Crunch, has revealed a lot more information about the device which is being called “True Blue”, here is a quote from the source:

    ‘True Blue’ features:

    • Booting of games from v3.6+ (up to v3.73) from special BD-R discs available from official resellers
    • Runs games up to v3.56 from HDD in conjunction with ‘backup managers’
    • Does not require the Power/Eject trick
    • Custom v3.55 Dongle firmware behaves like OFW when ‘True Blue’ is not inserted
    • Manufactured from highest grade components and Actel based
    • Durable and high quality metal case design
    • Tough and durable plastic packaging
    • Further features to be added as they are developed
    • On board 2 MBytes SPI flash
    • Supports Fat and Slim consoles currently running any firmware up to v3.55
    • And any PS3 which can be downgraded from v3.6+ to v3.55 (NOTE: Requires other tools, ‘True Blue’ currently can’t downgrade a Console)
    • Supports all regions of consoles
    • Supports all regions of ISO’s to be released
    • Rock solid crystal oscillator on board for flawless timing
    • The ‘True Blue’ dongle allows booting of the latest the ISO’s (3.6+) from special BD-R discs which can be purchased from all official resellers.
    • The discs can be burned by any BD-R recorder and there are no special requirements on either PC or BD burner types.

Whilst we can disclose that the discs are specially manufactured to allow booting of the latest ISO’s, further technical information on the way by which the BD-R discs can allow booting cannot be provided, for obvious reasons.

    Source PS3Crunch

    UPDATE:
GaryOPA has provided some more information, which he posted on this thread, here it is:

The special BD-R discs being SOLD are BLANK, they are not ‘warez’ in some cases less shady ‘modshops’ operating in countrys like Asia or Spain were local law enforcement turn a blind eye to ‘flea market’ operators they may infact FILL the disc with ‘information’ turning the blank disc into ‘warez’, but that is not fault of the ‘True Blue’ designers, and those places will NOT be offical resellers. — Information and pricing and list of ‘official resellers’ will be forcoming in new news post later this week once details are confirmed.

Second, there is alot more ‘games’ working then the 5 listed in the forums and emails from the original JB2 rumors, and the full list over all the tested games will be published once it is official and confirmed by us, don’t trust other sources of information there alot of people out there trolling and passing around mis-information still for various reasons.

Third, even tho there is effort to ‘crack’ this dongle already even tho it is not in the actual hands of any of the people posting information about it, there is alot of stuff unknown about how and why it works and for many reasons we can’t give further technical information but there is ‘KEY’ reason why you have to buy special BLANK BD-R discs, due to some background research on the Blu-Ray specs. and maybe you understand why this is only way to get your dreams filled on running the latest v3.60+ games on your PS3 correctly!

The PS3 scene has had the legal side surface ever since the first day we heard about OtherOS exploit and PS3Jailbreak, and has been rolling to this day. For those who are not always up-to-date on the legal sides, I have basically put together an outline of what Sony has done, and is doing under your nose that you may not be aware of. I believe people need to know what the current lawsuits and cases at hand hold for the general populace and their rights. These include the Consumer protection rights and intellectual property rights. So here it goes.

    —————————————————————————-

    Sony…

Sony is ruining their image and trying to put all their recent bad deeds off on a group of people that have done nothing wrong. This is a group of people that Sony throws in the same category as software pirates. Their corporation needs to learn a few things, one of which is demonstrated very simply here:

    Pirate can equal a hacker
Hacker does not always equal a pirate

Sony has recently sued a group of people, one group being a “hacking” team that goes by the name of fail0verflow. They operate under a cause trying to enforce the consumer protection act. Sony originally sold the PS3 as an “open” system. This meant that another OS, or Operating System, could be installed for a limited usage. Several years later, Sony removed this option. That was a feature that factored into the cost, and an advertised function, of the system. They removed it anyway, and in doing so, openly broke the law. They now believe that they can just get away with it because they have highly paid lawyers… and they did get away with it.

The lawsuit (class action btw) was “swept under the rug.” Fail0verflow have taken it upon themselves to return this advertised feature to “Sony’s” system. They have not used any copy-written Sony code or intellectual property to do so. Any and all information and source code used to achieve their goal was actively and publicly documented. Without any legal backing, Sony decided they didn’t like that they were “losing control” of “their” property… so they sued.

Another party that Sony has taken offense to is a single person that goes by the name Geohot. His real, legal, name is George Hotz. He became famous for the original “hacking” of the iDevices. These included things such as the iPod touch, iPhone, and most recently the iPad. George operates under the pretense and belief system that if you as an individual purchase something… it is yours. Many people, I believe, would agree with that. If you walk into a store today and buy a new laptop, wouldn’t you want it to do the things you bought it for? Wouldn’t you want to be able to run your own software on it? For instance, let’s say someone happens to be a software developer. They walk into best buy and buy a new Sony Vaio laptop. They then, take it home and begin to develop a software application (anything, it doesn’t matter) for their new laptop. Then Sony sues that person running something on “Sony’s” hardware that they themselves did not authorize. Is that right? Is that justified? No.

George opened up the ps3 to a new world of “un-authorized” software… He made it possible for people to do what THEY want with THEIR hardware that THEY bought with THEIR money. Why is this wrong? In Sony’s eyes its because they no longer possess control. They can no longer manipulate the consumer. George has, in the past, won similar lawsuits dealing with the circumvention of digital security dealing with the iDevices. These lawsuits made it legal for people everywhere to run what they want on their hardware… at least when it comes to cell-phones and ipods. The PS3 is no different, it is still yours, it is still the consumers. You never sign a contract upon purchase that says; “I’m paying for this but I give all ownership rights to Sony.”

Sony denies these “Robin-hood lies” and states that the real reason these people are doing these things is to monetarily harm their business and make it possible for piracy to ruin their sales. I want to say right now that nothing that either the fail0verflow team or George Hotz have ever released or had in their possession could ever enable piracy on the ps3. This has been proven in court and in practice. I know that piracy has surfaced; it is currently an issue not only with the ps3 but countless other devices on the market. That is a moot point. Piracy has nothing to do with the cases at hand. Sony also states that all the work the parties have done has been done illegally with illegally obtained copy written code. This too is known to be false as everything has been documented and has been public knowledge for the last several months.

Now that I have shown that Sony has no legal backing to their claims, and that the parties in question have done nothing “legally improper,” let me point out some of the things that Sony has illegally done and gotten away with.

I have already mentioned Sony’s open removal of the “OtherOS” capabilities of the ps3, which is in direct violation of the Consumer Protection Act. However, I now add that Sony also openly steals and hosts their consumers’ private information. Sony included what is basically a rootkit in the system software of the ps3. A rootkit is computer software that allows a remote party, in this case sony, to have “root” access to a computer. This means that Sony can, at any time, do essentially anything on your system. They can see what you’re doing, see what you’ve done, delete your files and access your personal information.  Rootkits, by any definition of the law, are illegal. I will also state that Sony does indeed actively collect the information of every single PS3 user to date. Upon boot, the PS3 gathers up everything that Sony asks for and sends it away. This does not require you to be signed onto the playstation network or even have an account. It only requires you to turn on your ps3 while connected to an active internet connection.

The things Sony collects are surprising. They log your use time, they collect data logs on the things you do, videos you’ve watched, music you’ve listened to, games you’ve played, messages you’ve sent and websites you’ve visited. They get things like the times and durations that you do each of those things for and even how many people were using it (based on number of controllers synced to the system and reoccurring differences in the data logs collected). They know how many and what devices are connected to the system through usb and the complete and full content of those devices. This includes things like flash drives and camera cards. Sony also logs your billing information, home address, credit card information, security question answers and countless amounts of other very personal information on what is now an insecure network. Does that make you feel safe as a consumer? Who would of thought that using a “media center” or “game system” could lead to mass identity theft? Does Sony hold any responsibility for this? Doing this without your knowledge if I may add? Well, sadly, that depends. That depends on just how much money Sony has to throw at their lawyers… and that’s a lot.

I’m very tired and have probably left out many valuable points and pieces of information. For this reason I ask you to research this subject for yourself and see what you learn. After that you should also take into consideration what the upcoming lawsuits brought forward will do to or for people like you. If Sony wins the cases at hand then we are basically just allowing them to walk on us… to get away with things that are so obviously illegal. Sony thinks that they can manipulate us, the consumers, the people who they rely on as a business. They think that they can just take advantage of us and that we will take it lying down. These upcoming cases will have a huge impact on how consumer protection and intellectual property rights evolve over the coming years. This is not something that the general public, which is currently oblivious to the situation at hand, should take lightly. This is where, after all my ranting and raving, I ask you, as a people, to rise up and make it known that big business and corporations like Sony cannot walk all over us. They cannot expose our personal information making us vulnerable to real hackers everywhere. They cannot say that they own something that is so obviously ours. I know many of you will not know what to do with this information, many of you will not know how to help or necessarily want to.

All I ask is that you spread the word. Make this known to people. Make this known to Sony. With knowledge comes power, with ignorance comes oppression. Make this known and protect us, the people, the consumers… the public.

Reply back with your thoughts on this article, and if you agree with Sony’s stance and decision making in the entire “PS3 hacking and what Sony should have done differently in dealing with the situation.

Here’s an interesting article Richard Leadbetter from Digital Foundry for eurogamer.net.

It is about the possibilities for Sony to detect jailbreaked consoles and homebrew software.

    Link to the article

    Some quotations:

“However, Sony has been remarkably restrained in its response to the Jailbreak even though PSN has been vulnerable for some weeks over the last few months. Does the company have the tools to track Jailbroken consoles and if so, why haven’t we seen the banhammer fall already?”

“Firmwares 3.42 and 3.5 worked in locking out Jailbroken consoles with the minimum of fuss. Hacks to get compromised consoles onto PSN were neutralised relatively quickly and you can expect the current access Jailbreakers have to PSN with Geohot’s hacked software to be revoked imminently with a new system update.”

“In future firmwares, expect internal checks to be carried out during run-time and on boot to ensure the integrity of GameOS - these are trivial for Sony to code, invisible to the legitimate end-user and much more difficult to reverse-engineer.”

I have read quite a few histories on game consoles, they all have been greatly written by great authors, but they all seemed incomplete, they didn’t portray the full history, the full essence of the machine, so as i am involved in the PS3 scene and know quite a bit about it, i thought i would write a complete history, containing the good, the bad and the ugly and believe me the PS3 has quite an exciting history and future, i wanted to write a history that will be enjoyed by everyone, one where people like myself wouldn’t finish the story, thinking there is something missing, i would also like to mention, that this work is my creation, i have written it in my own words, most of it from memory, sourced from various places over the internet, but mostly from ps3hax.net, so without any more interruption, here is the history of the PS3:

PS3-World member iscary has made a very useful tutorial, for those having difficulties downgrading their PS3 console, using PS Downgrade.

Finally PsJailbreak Team has released an update to its program Upgrader fully functional, we are talking about the 1.3 version downloaded from the official site.

Now we turn to a step by step guide to perform this simple procedure.

    PsJailbreak

    Requirements:
    - Original PsJailbreak.
    - PsUpgrader 1.3.
    - Internet connection.

    Update process:
1 - Downloaded from the official website PsUpgrader 1.3 and we start the installation of Setup.
2 - Now connect the PsJailbreak to a USB port and expect to be recognized.
3 - We initiate the program PsUpgrader.exe and soon you will see that the program will recognize the PSJ with a serial.

4 - Now let’s move on the window Download Updates and click on the Download Updates button (in a few seconds a message will confirm that you have downloaded updates) is the program appeared in two new files will be called (Downgrader_SerialNamber.fla and prog_SerialNamber.fla)

5 - Now let’s move on the window Update Now and click on the button (Click here to select file ….) and go to select the file Downgrader_SerialNumber.fla.

6 - At this point we only have to click on Apply Updates and wait for the program updates the PsJailbreak (Key you’ll notice that on the following combination of devices: Red/Green, Red, And finally if the flash is going to succeed light Green fixed.) obviously the program will tell you that everything went well.

7 - At this point you can unplug it and use it for the PSJ Downgrader because with this update works only to send the PS3 in Service Mode and Factory quini you can not use it to start the backup.
Extras: In case you want to restore the PSJ, and then to use it as normal and then start the Backup Key will not have to do is repeat the procedure from step 3 onwards, but this time you need to select the file prog_SerialNumber.fla.

    Driver Installation & PsUpgrade program.

    Flash PsJailbreak with PsDowngrader

    PsDowngrade

    Requirements:
    - 1 PsJailbreak reprogrammed with PsDowngrade
    - 1 FAT32 formatted USB stick
    - Update Amended 3.41, if you want to go back to version 3.15, download the official PUP.
    - Lv2Dig.self (which are divided into two different files named File1 Downgrade while serving for the File2 serves to bring out the PS3 by the Service Factory Mode.)

    How to Downgrade:

1 - Reprogrammed with the PSDowngrade PSJailbreak enter in your console
2 - Start the console using the same method to initiate the Jailbreak - Press the Power button and then immediately press the eject button. (You will see your console that will light up with the first light PSJailbreak red & Green followed only light Green, Then turn off the light on both the PS3 PSJ.
3 - Remove the PSJ and turn on the PS3 to make sure that everything goes well (just look to see the red box with srcitto Service Factory Mode)
4 - Now we take a USB stick in FAT32 and formattiamola, we insert this fact in the Root of the two key files that will be used for the downgrade are (1) Update 3:41 amended and (2) Lv2Dig.self (file1)
5 - Insert the USB stick in the console’s USB port (the important thing which should be included in the last door on the right, then click the Ps3FAT the 4th and the 2nd for Slim) turn on the PS3. Now you will see the PS3 is turned on the TV but you will not see anything (black screen)
6 - The process takes about 3 / 4 minutes (this time the PS3 install the firmware you put on the USB key) when the process is about to end you will see the green LED on the PS3 that starts flashing and after a few seconds will turn off automatically
7 - Remove the USB stick and turn on the PS3 (the PS3 will always be in Service Mode) go to system information and check that the firmware has become 3.41.
8 - Take the USB stick and inseriamola your PC (you’ll notice a new file called UPDATER_LOG.TXT this is a log of everything that made the downgrade) delete the two files that we had entered earlier (LV2Diag.self and update 3.41) and insert Root always in the other file called LV2Diag.self (File2)
9 - Always insert the USB stick in the last USB port of the PS3 and accendiamola normally after about 10 seconds will turn off the PS3 alone.
10 - Remove the USB key and we start the PS3 and immediately start the initial configuration (language, date, time, etc. etc.) At this point you have completed the procedure and you Downgrade your PS3 with the firmware of your choice.
Extra - If the vouchers to downgrade to a previous version you should do it this way:
If you have a firmware 3.50, you will need to first downgrade to version 3:41 and then upgrade to version 3.15 (if you want to rehabilitate OtherOS) while if you have a firmware 3:41 you will not have to do is replace the update with 3:41 to 3.15 and do the procedure.

Help and video guide created by me, I do not assume any responsibility in case of failure of your PS3 and all tested and fully functional.

I hope I was helpful to the whole community.

Revised/updated version can be found here. The follow information is excellent for firmware 3.41 jailbreakers.

It has been about three and a half months, since PS Jailbreak was first announced, you can find the first post here, since then there has been a lot of progress in the scene, from an Open Source version(PSGroove/PSFreedom) of PS Jailbreak being created, to Sony blocking any jailbreak methods with firmware 3.42 and much more, here i will attempt to create a very detailed F.A.Q.

Q.) What firmwares can i jailbreak my PS3 on.
    A.) 2.76, 3.01, 3.15, 3.21, 3.40 and 3.41

Q.) Can Firmwares higher than 3.41 be Jailbroken
A.) No, Sony blocked the method when they released Firmware 3.42 and at this present time, there is no way to Jailbreak beyond 3.41.

Q.) I accidentally upgraded to 3.42/3.50, can i downgrade to a Jailbreakable Firmware.
A.) Yes, the scene is full of open source downgraders, the following list of devices are able to do downgrading:

ATTENTION: A word of warning before downgrading, downgrading disables Blu Ray Movie playback.

Q.) When jailbreak came out, i upgraded to 3.41, loosing Linux, can i have Linux again.
A.1) As i stated above, there is a downgrade method, so using that, it will be possible to downgrade again to 3.15.
A.2) If you aren’t interested in downgrading or you have a Slim PS3, marcan, is working on a boot loader, that will enable Linux once again on PS3′s past 3.15, check out AsbestOS

Q.) I cant afford nor am i willing to pay $99 for the Official Jailbreak, is there any other methods.
A.) Yes you can, you can buy a clone dongle of PS jailbreak, a Dev Board or mobile devices, such as iPhone or HTC Desire.

Q.) So i have been hearing about payload’s
A.) KaKaRoTo and Hemes are the two most famous payload creators, these payloads add various functions, for example, the payload that allowed 3.41 users to access PSN, original created by Xoeo, make sure you have the most up to date payload.
For a vast amount of payloads for your device, check this site:
    Hermes V4
    KaKaRoTo Pl3
    Rockbox
    Phones
    Payloads via PSGrade.org

Q.) So how do i actually Jailbreak the PS3
A.) Well each jailbreak device is different, for instance, on the HTC Desire, you put the phone into recovery mode and select the payload, you then plug the phone into the USB cable, which should be plugged into the first USB port on the left of your console, then(this applies to all jailbreak devices) Power of the PS3, with switch at back for Fat and pull the plug out for Slim’s, re-switch/plug on/in, then press power followed by eject, if done correctly, you should be greeted with two new folders in the games list on the XMB

Q.) Is my console permanently Jailbroken
A.) No, you need to Jailbreak each time you power on your device.

Q.) So how do i Backup games
A.) You need to install a Backup manager, there are quite a few available

    multiMAN
    Open Manager
    Gaia Manager
    Rogero Manager
    Th@nkYou Manager

    Flex Manager
    Sexy Manager

Q.) What are my options for backing up games.
A.) You can install games on the PS3′s internal HDD or use an External USB HDD, which needs to be formatted to FAT32, you can also use a FAT32 USB Thumb Drive, note that with FAT32 you are limited to games with single files under 4GB, if you prefer all your games to be on the internal HDD, you can get up to 1TB 2.5″ HDD, or you can use the Xecuter PS3 HDXT method and have your internal HDD on the outside of the machine, the benefit of this, is that you can use 3.5″ Sata and IDE HDD’s as internal storage.
Some more PS3 HDD Information submitted by ieder-zijn-meis(Thanks again)
    - maximum height is 9,5mm (many 2.5″ drives above 640GB are too high too fit inside)
    - If using external 3.5″ drives hooked up to the internal SATA, you’ll need an external powersupply (some drivebays include them).
    - If you plan on exchanging the drive, download the full PUP of your FW you are using and put it on an USB Mass Storage Device formatted with FAT32 in PS3UPDATEPS3UPDAT.PUP and disconnect the LAN before repowering the PS3 (or you’ll bound to end up with the latest (3.55 now) unjailbreakable/undowngradable version).
    - Use a good fitting X screwdriver, the screws fitted to the HD<>tray are made of very soft aluminium.

Q.) Ok, i have downloaded a Backup Manager, that i want to use, how do i install it.
A.) You need to put the PKG on the root of a thumb drive and install, by selecting “Install Package Files” on the XMB, in the games section.

Q.) Ok im fed up with using my thumb drive, is there a way to download apps directly to the PS3.
A.) Yes, though you will have to install this one last app via thumb drive, it mounts a virtual Thumb Drive on the PS3 MHUFreeStore, here is a video:

Q.) So i have heard some games will not work, how do i find out, which game does or doesn’t work.
A.) Well i could list each one here, but i wont, instead visit PSJCL(PS Jailbreak Compatibility List), created by Bash, OnePlayer, Chris, Neowarex, Meeplo and xnt14, it is without a doubt, it is the definitive site for PS3 game Backup compatibility information.

Q.) Ok so i have backed up a game, i want to save that game to my computer as an extra backup, or i want to mod the game, how do i transfer it from my PS3.
A.) There are two methods, FTP, there are three of those at the moment:
    PS3 FTP Server
    by CJCP
    blackb0x FTP Server
    by blackb0x
    PS3FTP
    by stoneMcClane
    Alternativley you can use
    Comgenies Awesome Filemanager

    or
    Simple Filemanager
if you cant use FTP, or have an External HDD, Comgenies Filemanager is the best choice.

Q.) So is PS Jailbreak all about Backup’s, or can i run Homebrew too.
A.) In the past three months, quite a lot of Homebrew has been released, from the very first app, which was the FTP Server created
by CJCP, to most recently a PS1 Emulator.

    App’s
    Comgenies Awesome Filemanager
    PS3 FTP Server by CJCP
    blackb0x FTP Server by blackb0x
    PS3FTP by stoneMcClane
    NZHawk’s Awesome MountPoint Manager
    NZHawk’s Awesome Peek Poker
    NZHawk’s QuickDumpR
    MHUFreeStore
    Jochen Hippel Tribute Music Disk
    PS3Load
    TXT Reader

    Emulator’s
    Mednafen PS3
    FBAnext
    SNES9x
    FCEU
    PS3SX
    ScummVM
    VBA-PS3

    Game’s
    Cubicle Shooter
    Dont Get Crushed
    Maze Generator
    The World Drowns
    Cascade Beneath
    Neo Tanks
    Neo Race
    PS3 DOOM
    Heretic And Hexen
    BOMBERMAN HD
    PONGUS
    PS3noid

Q.) I want to be able to create my own Homebrew, is it possible.
A.) Yes, using the Open Source PS3 SDK, named PSL1GHT, you can create Homebrew, PSL1GHT was created by AerialX

Q16.) So can i play online or view the PSN store, when my PS3 is Jailbroken
A.) No, it isn’t possible, Sony has blocked all attempts to access PSN, we had it back for a while thanks to Xoeo, but that was also blocked, who knows, perhaps in the future.

Q.) So there is no way i can play multiplayer games with my friends(Thanks Spok)
A.) Yes you can, but not via PSN, you need to use XkaiLink and XBSlink and this will have you playing via LAN.
    [Tutorial] 1
    [Tutorial] 2
    [Tutorial] 3

    Q.) To what lowest firmware can I downgrade?(Thanks ieder-zijn-meis)
A.) The only safe downgrade with full support of your HW specific variation is to the lowest version available for your SKU when it was released, e.g.:

    PS3 Fat (FW 1.00 or 1.50):
    model, releasedate, FW@releasedate
    CECHA 8/2006-8/2007, FW 1.00/1.90
    CECHB 8/2006-4/2007, FW 1.00/1.70
    CECHC 8/2006-8/2007, FW 1.50/1.90
    CECHE 8/2007, FW 1.90
    CECHG 10/2007, FW 1.94
    CECHH 10/2007, FW 1.94
    CECHJ 8/2008, FW 2.42
    CECHK 8/2008, FW 2.42
    CECHL 8/2008, FW 2.42
    CECHM 8/2008, FW 2.42
    CECHP 10/2008, FW 2.50
    CECHQ 4/2009, FW 2.70

    PS3 Slim (FW 2.7x, 2.85 or 2.90):
    model, releasedate, FW@releasedate
    CECH-20 9/2009, FW 3.0
    CECH-21 3/2010, FW 3.21
    CECH-25 7/2010, FW 3.41

    Check here for more information.

Q.) People are saying that i can get banned from PSN, if i Jailbreak my PS3, is this true
A.) At the moment no, there is no actual cases of bans happening because of Jailbreak

Q.) I decided to downgrade my console using a debug firmware, i got five beeps then it shut down, is it bricked, can i fix it
A.) When you start messing with different firmwares, you run the risk of bricking your console, forum member gliitch did exactly that
though he was able to fix it and wrote quite an informative tutorial on how to fix it here

Q.) Ok so i have gone through the process of jailbreaking and successfully unbricking etc, i want to be braver and attempt more exiting exploits, like writing to the flash, is this possible.
A.) JaiCraB & ps3mrenigma released an app called Mount Alejandro which enables you to write to flash, you can read more about it here

Q.) I would like to modify the XMB, make it more custom, is this possible
A.) TeaM-ACiD1C brought out a modified XMB, you need to use Mount Alejandro if you want to write to the flash, you can find more about it here, it also has the download link

Q.) I have always hated that annoying boot sound the PS3 makes, when it is turned on, can i change it
A.) You certainly can, gliitch has written a great tutorial here it will show you how to change the sound and make yourown, or you can simply download the sounds made by gliitch and other members

Story copied from PSGroove.com , the link can be found at the bottom.

Here is the leaked file for the psdowngrade with setup instructions and how to use it. The files used to flash the PSDowngrade and its readme have also leaked! These files are for a specific person’s dongle. So there is no reason for the average user to try and flash them. However, they may be reversed, which would lead to a free method of downgrading.

The readme references files such as lv2diag.self and a modified 3.41 pup file. For those of you that don’t know, lv2diag.self is the name of a file used in conjunction with Sony’s official Service Jig. It seems the jailbreak team has reverse engineered that jig, this time around.

In addition, the official PS Jailbreak team announced via their website, the legitimacy of PS Downgrade. Stating their device now supports 3.42, 3.50 and beyond. However, I wouldn’t upgrade just yet, as this seems like just an advertising push for their downgrade, not actual support for 3.42 and 3.50.
