The Italians are back, team ITA have updated their 4.21 DEX CFW to version 2.2. Also, they have released an interesting new ‘loader’.

    Changelog:

    -Spoof firmware 4.40.
-IDPS All Change region 4.21 is now integrated in the fw and runs automatically during boot the console, there is no need to start it manually after every boot. To log on to the PSN simply log in as you were on an ordinary OFW.
-Sys_init_osd.self New, allows the start of our core (ps3itald.self) during boot the console. IMPORTANT: all credits for this go to sys_init_osd Miralatijera we just added a little bit (to make it boot faster) and brought patches to the nost cfw, ps3itald.self instead is a creation of our team. The core ps3itald.self is easily customizable thanks to PKG ps3ita loader.
-Fixed bug that did not allow the boot cd / dvd original PS2 PS3 backwards compatible.
-Vsh Patch magazines, ReactPsn now works perfectly.
0x80022D74 0x80022D11 Fix for errors relating to the trophies, in some cases after a downgrade by service mode was returned one of these errors and was forced to leave the game.

    PS3ITA Loader:

Through the program ps3ita loader you can manage the core ps3itald.self and add / remove functions that will be performed automatically upon boot of the console (I think many of you will appreciate the “install_new_idps” allows you to permanently change your console id with one of your choice).

    Install Instructions For the CFW

    1. sure you have a console with CFW / OFW DEX (Debug) version 3.55/4.21.
    2. strictly Install the Firmware Downgrader 3:55
    3. PS3ITA Install CFW 4.21 DEX v2.2.

    Install Instructions For PS3ITA Loader:

    1. ps3ita Copy the folder in the root of the USB stick.
    2. Move the flag you want to install from the folder / ps3ita/NOT_ACTIVE in / ps3ita (flags are simple text files and have explained in their function).
    3. Insert the USB stick into the port on the right of the PS3.
    4. install the pkg “ps3ita_loader” and run it.
If something goes wrong, the LED turns red, otherwise fine.
A log file in / dev_usb000/ps3ita cmq will be created to verify if all the steps have taken place correctly.
    5. New features are now active

Rogero has realeased a new version of his CEX 4.40 CFW. It’s recommended to update if you are on v1.02.

CFW4.40 v1.03 released on first page, it is recommended to update from v1.02 because v1.03 is better built with more features.

I’ll have to remove my link in a while, so mirrors will be appreciated, Thanks.

    Enjoy…

    Rogero CFW4.40 v1.03

    • Rebuilt the CFW with minimal patches needed for similar OFW Stability, also adding full compatibility with multiMAN Tools.
    • All known issues from v1.02 are fixed now (XMB PS2 Game Saves, Sequential Video Playback, Media Server always on)
    • Removed Cinavia Patch used on v1.02 because of some compatibility issues (When DEX4.40 is public it will be added properly again)
    • Added the ToolBox to [app_home/PS3_GAME] to restore multiMAN/StealthMAN launch mode from ToolBox.
    • Updated the ReactPSN patch to work offline without the need to log into PSN at all (Credits to Team Rebug for their original 4.30.1 Patch)
    • Added both noBD/noBT patches to allow installation on consoles with broken BluRay Drive or Bluetooth board.

Around the world, April the first is known as April Fools day, where you make your familly and friends fall for some sort of trick or Joke.
But in the PS3 Scene, it was known as the day Sony released the disgusting 3.21 FW, which eradicated the “Install OtherOS” feature, thus removing the ability to install Linux, or completely taking the Linux partition away from users and in extreme cases making PS3 owners lose access to PSN is they decided to stay on Linux.
Sony’s victory was short lived, they made the mistake of lieing and saying they would always support OtherOS, then turning around and taking it away, their mistake was our victory as hackers and Devs worked until they got OtherOS restored on the PS3, now we can have Linux on 4.xx CFW/MFW.

    So Thank You
    graf_Chokolo
    fail0verflow
    glevand
and all the others that helped return the Linux function to the PS3.

Following up on PS3 4.40 CFW and the PS3 v3.1.0 Core Update, today Spanish PlayStation 3 developer MiralaTijera has updated his PS3 4.40 CFW to include a ReActPSN RIF license bypass which allows users to run all PS3 DLC, PS1, PS2 Classic and PSN content that previously required RIF files without ReActPSN now.

To quote, Properly translated thanks to @CaptainCPS-X :D :

[update 2 released , read the whole post :-) ]

    CFW 4.40 MiralaTijera :

    Specifications :
    sys_init_osd ( read “Special” )
    lv1 peek / poke
    lv2 peek / poke
    Patched Syscon hash
    Patched nas_plugin ( PKG Install )
    explore_plugin parcheado ( original Install Packages )
    appldr , lv2 hash
    appldr, ecdsa
    isoldr, ecdsa
    spu_pkg_rvk_verifier , ecdsa
    spu_token_processor , ecdsa

    Functional QA flag :-D

You can re-install the CFW over itself and you can install from CFW 4.31 MiralaTijera, and in theory from any CFW (I just confirm my CFWs).

    Special:

-Integrated Core 3.0.1 (Install the nosearch flag for the controller synchronization problem /dev_usb000/flags/nosearch)
-sys_init_osd no longer exist, it has been completely replaced by CORE
    -LED aways green (FOR NOW)

    Bugs:

BDEMU without the drive is not working, OtherOS is not working

    Payload:

Iris Manager 2.22 with payload 4.40 is included and ported to this version, source code has been handed to estwald, so he can upload them himself to the Git (repository).

    Links for all this:

    http://pastie.org/private/d29apzonxy5hzw2mozpg

USE THIS IRIS, I FIXED SOME BUGS: http://www.sendspace.com/file/spo1wh

the process to create the CFW is identical to the previous CFW I did before…

tomorrow or this afternoon I will make an update to the CORE to add BDEMU without need of the drive and the rest of things that need to be ported to the core ;-)

    [update 1 ]

    Core 3.1.0 CFW 4.40 MLT

BDEMU without drive working in 4.40 ( bdemu flag )

(beta) loading of alternative kernel (anotherlv2 flag) (the kernel has to be manually copied to /dev_rewrite/lv2ker.self, the console will do a reboot and when the USB is turned off, we remove it and it will load it. (beta)

reActPSN working, unsigned RIF and ACT.DAT deletion prevention.

Installation: Put the files on the package on the root of a USB Storage Device, then connect it to the right USB slot and turn the PS3 on, it will install and if the LED stays yellow, then it means that everything worked fine, you will have the log in the USB as before, etc…

    http://pastie.org/private/gmrhneiqd1elkc9cnlczg
    Update 2

PSX games will have the complete animation intro just like the PS1 :-D

ReactPSN has been fixed ( without copying or looking at Rogero’s fix )

RIF license bypass, this means that now the console will not care if the content has been purchased or not, so this means that a console without RIF’s nor ACT.DAT should boot all content without any problem ( ps2 classics for example ) BUUUUT will give a blackscreen, to fix that we will have to patch the “ps2netemu” so it uses a static klicensee.

    and a new mode that I’ve called…

Dcex, basically reload the system in DEX mode WITHOUT changing the EID or doing the paraphernalia to switch the console to DEX, what you do need to have activated are the QA Flags, nothing else… all in a safe mode and we have our own kind of Debugger to be able to debug games and mount games via Network without any need of backup managers

This works as follows, inside the pack ( assuming that you have the console running this CFW update). I attached a file called lv2ker.self located in a folder that indicates to read this post.

This file must be transferred manually to the root of dev_flash, in this case using dev_blind or the same dev_rewrite that gets mounted by the core on each boot.

Next you just have to activate the flag anotherlv2 (I advice that all this process is temporal, if for any reason the boot fails and it gives 2 beeps, there is no problem, simply remove the flag from USB and reboot the console again.

Very well, once booted you will see everything just like a DEX, all the special icons and the quick sign up, everything is all good.

To use the PC Tools, you will need to connect the PS3 via Ethernet wire to your Router, and extract the RAR with all the tools that I’ve attached to the root of a Game, it should end up something like this =

    Code:
    PS3_GAME
     dcmanag.....
     dtccons..... ETC..

And then, go to Network Settings and verify the IP address you are assinged, right-click “MLTmountydebug.bat” and choose “Edit” and inside you will see the following IP 192.168.0.102, change it with your IP, save changes and run the script / batch… in that same moment you will see in discless that it mounts the game via Network, and in one of the 4 windows that will open, the “dtccons” will show you the debugging output, from the PS3 game and system.

    Something like :

    Code:
    dtccons (Version 1.3 Thu Jun 08 17:05:26 2006)
    ===== Start agent =====
    VSH Debug Agent Version 4.3.0 (62) (Built - Oct 17 2012 18:24:19)

And core 3.1.1 with the updates and fixes to accommodate what has just been described before in the CFW.

To apply the update, do as always, with the CORE and nosearch DISABLED you will put everything on the root of a USB Storage Device and it will do the dirty work, on reboot everything will be updated.

And with this and a Brazier, we burn Rogero xDDDD

1- This CFW does have LV1 checks disabled and can be installed on Downgraded PS3 consoles even if not dehashed after downgrade. Just in case anyone still need to dehash, here’s the link Link —-> Dehashing Tutorial

2- Always make a NOR/Nand dump using multiMAN before installing any CFW to have a recovery backup in case of any bricks.
Having a valid NOR/Nand dump is an essential step before upgrading, because you will always have a chance to recover when you have a valid dump.
** A Hardware Flasher alone without a valid dump may not fix your bricked PS3 **

3- The QA flag is better to be always Enabled on your PS3 for safer upgrading/downgrading operations. Link —-> toggle_qa.pkg

4- Please Check the MD5 of the downloaded PUP file before installing any CFW to avoid possible bricks.

5- DO NOT HAVE DISC IN PS3 WHEN UPDATING FIRMWARES..As the PS3 will take the UPDATE from the DISC First.

6- You need to be already on a 3.55OFW or 3.55CFW/4.21CFW/4.30CFW to install this. Installing from any OFW > 3.55 won’t work. (Hardware Flasher needed)

    - Downgrading back to 3.55 is always possible using the following steps :
    - Download the Downgrader PUP —> Downgrader PUP mirror —> Downgrader PUP
    …Size 176MB (184,595,263 bytes) MD5: 49d80e07fc1f5ca1b0840e02e94635db
    - Rename the downloaded file to “PS3UPDAT.PUP” and put it on your USB in: “USBPS3UPDATEPS3UPDAT.PUP”
    - While on Rogero CFW4.30, go to System Update from XMB and install the Downgrader PUP.
    - After the Downgrader PUP installs you’ll be on a hybrid CFW3.55 that will still shows the spoofed ver4.21 from system settings.
    - In case you didn’t have it Set Before, Enable QA flag by following these steps:

1- Download the Rebug QA_Toggle package from here —> toggle_qa.pkg
2- Put the “toggle_qa.pkg” on USB and Install it on the PS3.
3- Run the “Rebug Toggle QA” from XMB, the screen will go Black and you will see HDD Led activity then if all went fine you will hear 2 or 3 Beeps and the PS3 will Restart back to XMB.
4- If you want to make sure QA flag was set, go to “Network Settings” then apply the following key combo (all at the same time):

    L1 + L2 + L3 (press left stick) + R1 + R2 + dpad_down

You should see Edy Viewer, Debug Settings, and Install Package Files if done correctly.

    - Now put “Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7″ on your USB in: “USBPS3UPDATEPS3UPDAT.PUP” —> Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7.PUP
    - Start the PS3 and install “Rogero CEX-3.55 CFW V3.7″ using the System Update from XMB.
    - Once you’re back on Rogero CFW3.55 v3.7 you can now install any CFW 3.55/4.21/4.30 using the System Update from XMB
( or Recovery Menu if XMB Update didn’t work ).

    PACKAGE MANAGER:

Package Manager is a replacement for the standard Install Package Files option under Game in the XMB. It allows for the install and deletion of .pkg files from dev_hdd0/packages, dev_usb/packages and the standard Install Package Files locations. In addition to this, your downloaded PSN content ‘bubbles’ will appear under this option instead of cluttering your Game menu with uninstalled content.

    USAGE:

Navigate to Game in your XMB and click on Package Manager (It will be where Install Package Files usually is). You will find three options.

    PlayStation®Network Content

    Manage your downloaded PlayStation®Network Content.

    Install Package Files
INSTALL package files from Storage Devices and your PS3.

    PS3 Hard Disk (dev_hdd0/packages)
    Package Folder (dev_usb/packages)
Standard Package Location (Standard Install Package Files locations)

NOTE: The Install All Packages is only available by pressing the TRIANGLE button when the Standard Package Location option is highlighted because the PS3 will only install ALL packages from the root of a storage device as of the moment.

    Delete Package Files
DELETE package files from Storage Devices and your PS3.

    PS3 Hard Disk (dev_hdd0/packages)
    Package Folder (dev_usb/packages)
Standard Package Location (Standard Install Package Files locations)

    DELETING FILES:
1: Highlight the file you would like to delete and press TRIANGLE. The sidebar should appear.
2: Press CROSS on either Unlink or Unlink(Folder) (Both do the same thing for now).

    REBUG TOOLBOX

Rebug Toolbox is application designed to complete the full function of REBUG REX EDITION firmwares. Besides from performing the CEX/DEX EID0 and LV2 Kernel Swapping it is also an FTP server and is packed with a bunch of other useful tools.

    INSTALL:

1: In the PS3 XMB go to Game menu
    2: Select Package Manager
    3: Select Install Package Files
    4: Select PS3 Hard Disk
    5: Select REBUG-TOOLBOX-02.xx.xx.pkg

    More information About REBUG TOOLBOX==>>Rebug.me

    OTHER TOOLBOX FEATURES:

    L3 changes clock/temperature display

    L2+R2 enable screensaver

START+R2 take a raw rgb screenshot

    Remote-play via PSP/PSVITA

Auto-turn-off if idle for 1 hour

Telnet to PS3 ip at port: 8080

FTP access with writable dev_flash mounted as dev_rebug
(port: 21, user: anonymous, password: (anything))

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    QA SUPPORT

QA is supported in all REBUG FIRMWARE but at this point in time we are unable to set the QA Token from GameOS on 3.55+ firmware.
It is good practice to enable QA in 3.55 before updating to any CFW not just REBUG.

    OTHEROS++ SUPPORT

OtherOS++ is supported by all REBUG REX EDITIONS and will detect your existing OtherOS HDD partition.
However none of the REBUG REX EDITIONS have emer_init.self patched (create smaller GameOS partition). We are working on a solution to this from GameOS.

In the meantime if you do want to create an OtherOS partition you have two options:

1: Use a 3.55 firmware that already has emer_init.self patched to the size you want.
2: Patch REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION in PS3MFW Builder

If you choose option 2 we highly recommend that you ONLY patch emer_init.self. Also the resulting PUP will only be able to be installed on 3.55 firmware as the spkg_hdr will be mismatched.

    REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER

    INSTALL:
From XMB install REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER over any 3.55 OFW/CFW/MFW or the same or lower firmware version CFW with spkg sig check patched or any firmware version CFW with spkg sig check patched and QA enabled.

    UNINSTALL:

From XMB REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER can be uninstalled with the same or higher firmware version OFW/CFW/MFW or with REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION on a QA enabled PS3 or with the ’999′ DOWNGRADER if QA was NOT enabled.

    REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION

    INSTALL:
From XMB install REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION over the same or lower firmware version OFW/CFW/MFW or any firmware version CFW/MFW with spkg sig check patched and QA enabled.

    UNINSTALL:
From XMB REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION can be uninstalled with the same or higher firmware version OFW/CFW/MFW.

    REBUG ’999′ DOWNGRADER

THIS WILL SET YOUR SYSCON COREOS VERSION TO 9.99 ON PURPOSE: DO NOT PANIC
    REQUIRES SYSCON DEHASHING AFTER DOWNGRADE

    INSTALL:
From XMB install ’999′ DOWNGRADER over any firmware version CFW/MFW with spkg sig check patched on a PS3 with or without QA enabled.

UNINSTALL/DEHASH: REQUIRES PS3 TO BE QA ENABLED:
From XMB ’999′ DOWNGRADER can be uninstalled/dehashed with the REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION or from Recovery Mode with any other 3.55 OFW/CFW/MFW.

For all the users that are having the Singstar Icon on XMB, please know that this is a pure Original FW 4.30/4.31 feature and
it seems it is only showing for Europe users when they connect the PS3 to the internet.

Here’s two links to the SingStar problem with OFW4.30 :
—> Singstar Icon appeared after online update to FW 4.30

This CFW was tested on most PS3 Models by different testers and no problems were encountered.
But as any CFW release you must install it with caution and by following proper instructions, No one will be held responsible for any damage caused.

    * This CFW can be installed fine from XMB Update over any OFW3.55/CFW3.55/CFW4.21/CFW4.30.

    * For details about Downgrading back to CFW/OFW3.55 Please read the Downgrade Guide below

    - added some missing checksums for some firmwares
    - old, translated databases are moved to ./outdated folder

    TODO:
    - add missing CEX OFW (the ones from BD-ROM)
    - add missing SEX OFW

Here are a couple of quotes from the Read Me:

    Hello.

Custom Firmware Validator is a program designed mainly for verifying downloaded or manually patched firmwares for PS3. This application compares checksums from the database with those which are being calculated on the currently open file. If at least one would match, the following things will appear: the name of the firmware and its short description, the option to show the list of additional functions and the option to visit the author’s web page, also one could copy a file onto USB with the proper directory structure and its name (PS3, PSP, PSV).

    Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I still don’t understand what this program do!
A: In other simpler words, using CFV:
    - You cannot flash your console by fake firmware. In first days of CFW on PS3, many bastards linked higher OFW as CFW and some people have been fooled by them, ending with non software downgradable OFW. This application protect you from such situation.
    - You cannot misleading one CFW with another, modified by someone else than author of this CFW. This application gave you confidence that scaned CFW is the release CFW, not modified by someone else.
    - You can transfer OFW/CFW directly to your USB device. It even detect if file system is FAT32 but not only! Also detect if this FAT32 is on MBR (which is only one support by PS3) or GPT and other not supported table format.
    - You can go to authors webpage if it’s linked in database.
    - You can take more user friendly information about firmware (like properly working Trophy system, Cinavia DRM patched, protecting from ACT.DAT deleting etc.).

Q: How many fw CFV recognize?
A: Custom Firmware Validator support all CEX OFWs, all leaked SEX, DEX, DECR and all known to us CFWs (more than 50). This give us support for ~200 firmwares!

Q: Do you plan to make databases updates?
A: Yes, but only the one for PS3. In this aspect we count on the community’s involvement. ;]
