In june we saw the first leaked images of this new 4k series of PS3′S now according to some sources Sony will not announce it on gamescon = Agusts 14.
Speculation around this whole new series keeps feeding the news site. Hence this is a *prior* step to the announcement of the PS4 (so they said) Something cheap to entertain a few while most of us still waiting for an official release date of *ORBIS*.
They say that 16GB SKU is indeed REAL not a rumour but the problem or how to say it..the rumour involves that the console is based on FLASH memory.
Article keeps feeding us with some more details and some info that was posted on June as well = the 16Gb PS3-4000 will have a flip-lid disc input and low-capacity storage.

I can only think in a mediocre product being delivered, but it’s what i think about this. I don’t see anything innovative about this, maybe in terms of security can be the final showdown against the dongles. And above all for a *cheap* price ;)

PS3-4000 skips gamescom, 16Gb Flash SKU goes cheap

A VG247 source has claimed that Sony will not announce PS3-4000 at its gamescom press conference on August 14.

PS3-4000, the latest, slimmest version of Sony’s current console, will not be announced at the main Sony gamescom press conference on August 14, VG247 has been told.

A gamescom reveal had been planned, but stock levels of the current build are said to be too high for Sony to move onto what is probably the last take on PS3 before PlayStation 4 is announced next year.

In addition, a source today said that the rumoured 16Gb version of PS3-4000 is in fact real, and is based on Flash memory. There was some confusion surrounding the figure, which originated from Anatel, the Brazilian Agency of Telecommunications, with many assuming it was intended to read 160Gb.

The new model will stack up against Microsoft’s 4Gb Flash-based Xbox 360. As the 16Gb PS3-4000 will have a flip-lid disc input and low-capacity storage, we’ve been told today that the announcement “may” be accompanied by a huge price cut, with the entry version potentially dropping as low as £99.

We’ve since been told, however, that there are no plans for a £99 PS3.

In addition to the 16Gb version, 250GB and 500GB options have been rumoured.

We reached a point where all scene sites and his users in some kind of way are forced to buy a dongle. Like some kind of crazy sci-fi movie with subliminal messages inducing you to buy certain product.

Doesn’t matter where you look, you will see all dongle related news.
But this one, maybe looks like one but it’s not.

You are paying for something that eventually will get cloned again and improved in so many ways. So you have to *save* an extra bucks just in case if something new is released.

And the worst of the situation are the constant battles about how unfair it’s to own one or even to try to buy one.

As i saw the last days/weeks users defending the posture pro-dongle and giving serious battle to the anti-dongle users.
(I won’t name it, you know what im talking about)
And turns into an ugly disease very hard to erradicate.

    Why is a disease?:

You maybe hear sometime on your life the next phrase:

    Divide and Conquer.

Well this is the issue here, we have in HAX a posture towards dongle. And eventually someone will ignite some discussion topic about this and the thread will go eventually to hell.

If you divide the community, you can conquer.
If you conquer you get more buyers.
It’s not so hard to understand.

    What about the cure?:

The cure is to mantain certain respect when talking about this type of *legal piracy* regarding the dongles.
The cure maybe it’s not buy them, hence more users buys the product generates more demand of it.
It’s not bad i respect that, like i said so many times it’s not my money when someone ask me if to buy or not.
I cannot tell a user/person; don’t buy because im against or i don’t like the way they do business.
I have no right to do that, but you can tell them what’s all about and maybe they will change their opinion or not.
    But at least you tried.

Buy a dongle or die trying:

So many times we discussed about the keys, the anons with empty promises.
The fakes, the scammers, the prophets. (So many of them).
But when this arrived to the market, and people started to get *hyped* and buy it most of them (not all of them) in some kind of *ignorance* stated that the scene is dead.
Sadly it’s not dead, it’s alive but poisoned.
We have so many tools, apps, options to *play* but for the ones who want quick and *semi-effective* placebo-solutions they have a product that suits their needs.
    The dongle.

    Final toughts:

Sony removed all that we can use *in legal terms* when they wanted to.
Users buys a product that’s *legal piracy*.
I won’t be an hypocrite, since the exploit yes we used dongles in order to *advance*.
But we used them with an objective = Open more doors to hacking the console.
Not just only to run backups, instead for understand and learn about it.
I think people it’s getting more and more impatient and they rush to buy something that’s it’s infecting the scene that they now label as dead.

    But..
Maybe someday we will see some brighter future, i said that so many times that i cannot convince myself about that.

Well it’s not news. Just another broken-english text that i wanted to share.

    Regards

    Peace

For a few days, the PS3 Dev Wiki was down due to hosting problems and a lot of information seemed to be lost, but thanks to the hard work of the Wiki’s admin defyboy and a backup from a member called TMAnd, only a couple of days work was lost, you can read about it on this thread.

So thank you defyboy and TMAnd for rescuing all those precious edits :)

I would like to point out, that the PS3 Dev Wiki is a community effort, without the work and dedication of a lot of developers and PS3 enthusiasts, the wiki would be quite empty, so if you are doing work on the PS3, keep it documented on the Wiki :)

You can visit the Wiki here:

I would like to give thanks to euss, deroad, defyboy, Lady Anne Blunt, sandungas and the many other editors who keep the Wiki alive.

Im sure you are all aware of the reDRM device known as True Blue, the device that uses stolen code and craps on everything a scene is supposed to be about, a couple of months ago, a clone was released called JB-King and it seems that another clone called JB2USB has been released, or has it.

Ill explain the ‘or has it’ part
A few days ago, PS3HaX member warning made this post:

Then yesterday news emerges about JB2USB which claims to be a clone of True Blue, here is some information on the device:

The device retails at $19.99 as well.

So your opinion, is it a new clone, or is it the True Blue devs with a new device ?

Over the weekend, the company that created PS3USERCHEAT dongle has managed to clone the infamous True Blue dongle.

    Features:

    • Booting of games from v3.6+ (up to v3.73) from special BD-R discs available from official resellers
    • Runs games up to v3.56 from HDD in conjunction with ´backup managers´
    • Does not require the Power/Eject trick
    • Custom v3.55 Dongle firmware behaves like OFW when ´JB-King´ is not inserted
    • Manufactured from highest grade components and Actel based
    • Durable and high quality plastic case design
    • Tough and durable plastic packaging
    • Further features to be added as they are developed
    • Supports Fat and Slim consoles currently running any firmware up to v3.55
    • And any PS3 console which can be downgraded from v3.6+ to v3.55 (NOTE: Requires other tools, ´JB-King´ currently can’t downgrade a Console)
    • Supports all regions of consoles
    • Supports all regions of ISO´s to be released
    • Rock solid crystal oscillator on board for flawless timing
    • The ´JB-King´ dongle allows booting of the latest the ISO´s (3.6+) from special BD-R discs which can be purchased from all official resellers.
    • The discs can be burned by any BD-R recorder and there are no special requirements on either PC or BD burner types.

    Video:

So for those who were interested in TB but not the price, this may be a cheaper alternative to you. We have not received this dongle yet but we will get a review sample soon, and will let you know how it is.

And for those griping about the dongle, yes its another clone - but at least we know its possible to clone and someone can hopefully figure out what was done with the JB King that we couldn’t figure out with the True Blue and  bring a scene-free solution :) .

It always plays out the same way, a high premium product, a bunch of cheap clones, and then a free solution available.  The reason TB was priced so high initially is because the company knew that the dongle would be cracked/cloned eventually so they maximized their profits in their short window.  Now with a clone on the market, you bet there will be more TB clones that follow this one and a scene solution will not be  far off.
