On the 29th of November, the PS4 made its debut in parts of Europe, including the UK and Ireland, most people who made pre orders seem to have gotten away problem free, but those in the UK who preorderd their PS4 online with Game, had a ton of hassle to go through, with their preorders being cancelled, with no warning, you can read my rant here:
Game UK Screws Up – Cancels Hundreds Of PS4 Preorders

     photo 2156040-game_shop_zpsb6eec829.jpeg

To update my story, i received my console on release day, but i did not receive the bundle i had previously preordered, i had peordered the Killzone Mega Bundle, which included an extra control pad and the PS4 Camera, which is a saving of £100 on buying the items separately, i only received the Kilzone Special edition pack, im glad they only charged me for that pack..
Now whilst i was extremely annoyed with Game for being so incompetent, i was happy that i received the console, i was also delighted to know that my story and that of others went main stream, with the story being posted on one of the UK’s biggest tabloids, The Guardian posted about the trouble suffered by those who had preordered with Game, here is a small quote from their story:

The Guardian has received reports that PlayStation 4 pre-orders, specifically through the high street and online retailer Game, have been cancelled with little in the way of explanation or notice. Last week, gamershit the PlayStation forum to complain about receiving cancellation emails from Game informing them that they would need to contact customer services if they wanted the order to be re-instated. One customer Gregory Rasputin, recorded his own experience online, including the email from Game that suggested there may have been a problem with payment.

From forum messages, it seems that pre-orders have been taken on bank cards that later expired, but that customers were not informed when the payment was attempted and failed. On his site, Rasputin posted a list of tweets from other pre-order customers, sent to the @gamedigital Twitter feed. One says: “Can someone help me with my PS4 preorder? You have tried to take payment from the wrong card account and have cancelled it!”

Through reading the rest of that story, it seems that people are still having problems, those that received their consoles on release day were Phase 1 customers and all Phase 1 customers should have had their consoles on release day, but one reader of The Guardian reported that after a week of trying to get in touch with Game, he was finally called and told that he is considered a Phase 2 customer and will not receive his console before Christmas, to make things worse for Game, the comments from some Phase 2 and Phase 3 customers state that their preorders have been cancelled.

You can read the full story from The Guardian here.

Lesson and message to anyone thinking of dealing with Game.
DO NOT PRE ORDER A GAMES CONSOLE ONLINE EVER WITH GAME.
That being said, Game are still a decent company for game software, they just cant handle online hardware preorders very well.

Is this the PS4′s first hack or the PS4′s first fake, here is a quote from the Pastebin:

I have been away for a while, so my question to you is; did you miss me? I am aware that ya’ll were all thirsty for a cup of a fine Reckz0r release, so here I am…with a fine fuckin’ glass of a RECKZ0R release, yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! (did that sound sarcastic?)

Before I get off started ridiculing Sony, I’d like to pay homage to Sir George Hotz, who looked into the eyes of Sony and made them ejaculate as they bowed down in fear. Very artistic of you, Geohotz.

Now that, George Hotz has resigned from engaging in all types of sexual activities with an computer, and as all fans of PlayStation are crying for the comeback of GeoHotz..I’d let you all know, you don’t need that lil fuckin’ faggot. You really don’t.

    Well, alright….LET’S GET STARTED ALREADY!

As you all know, PS4 runs Orbis OS, that is highly based on FreeBSD (which is a opensource operating system), and as the PS4 is closely identical to a PC, I guess you all knew that PS4 and the Xbox One will probably end up getting pwned soon, and now..its time.

NOTE: I did not find this vulnerability within PS4, nor did I write the exploit, while I was browsing thru an Brazilian console-hacking forum known as condinh0 (I am sure you all know this if you hang out at TOR). A person named x-s4nd3r released the devkit of PS4, as well as the exploit within 5 days of PS4 release. Although most of you don’t know how to apply that jailbreak on the PS4, I am making this tutorial to sort this shit out for you.

xn0 from neogaf decided to test the effects of the LEDs in the new Dualshock 4 Controller. After disabling the 6 extremely bright LEDs in one of his controllers he did some testing and shared the results online:

So the test is going to go like this… I have taken apart one of my DS4 controllers and realized that I cannot desolder the LEDs without breaking the board (ie heat gun did not work and I’m fond of my DS4 even with the annoying light). There is a simple ribbon cable (circled below) that joins the microUSB port and the LEDs to the main board, and if I remove this cable the controller still works and functions normally. I have both controllers charging currently. I am going to wait until they are both fully charged then I am going to turn both of them on and see which one runs out of batteries first. I won’t be touching the controllers they will just be on all night and I’m guessing the one with the LEDs attached will drain faster, how much faster is the real question.

I’ll report back my findings and maybe a non junior member could start a thread on it.

So what I discovered when taking apart my DS4 is that these are some serious LED’s in this controller. The LED’s are actually so bright they sit behind a defuser and 2 shields (with 1 of those shields being completely opaque) the 4 LED’s in the 360 controller are less bright by a significant amount. There appear to be 6 extremely bright LEDs inside of the array, and my experience with both LED light bars on ATV’s and LED strobes on guns I can definitely say LED’s do consume a measurable amount of power. If I had to guess what is eating up batteries in the DS4 it would be Rumble motors

I think it will be a short time before this is a configureable option. Until then I just discovered that PIN 14 is the power to the LED for anyone who cares to disable the LED without tape/paint/etc, I’m doing it now.

So far there is no data on the test. I am just using the battery indicator light on the OS, both are still at full bars and they have been going for about 3.5 hours. I now doubt the light has a significant impact but tomorrow morning I’ll check it again and use a voltmeter on both batteries and post back on this thread.

    So I’m not a patient man…. I just took a multimeter to both batteries…

    Data:

    DS4 w/ LED enabled: 3.66V
    DS4 w/ LED disabled: 3.88V

Verdict so far… Well this means nothing unfortunately since I did not measure each battery fully charged with the multimeter. However based on this data I don’t see any way the DS4 with the LED disabled is going to drain more battery than the DS4 with the LED enabled. Continuing this test might be pointless I’m afraid, as the outcome is going to be exactly as I expected, the DS4 w/ LED is draining batteries quicker.

That said the LED’s likely have little impact on the battery when compared to the 2 rumble motors and the capacitive touchpad.

UPDATE: As of 1:40am the DS4 with the LED on hit 2/3 bars, the DS4 with the LED disabled is still at 3/3 bars. That is approximately 4.5 hours to discharge 1 bar on DS4 with just the LED.

    UPDATE:

So I just tested again and the DS4 with the LED on is at 1 bar, however the DS4 with the LED off is still at 3 full bars. The reading is 3.67V on the DS4 without the LED controller which is more than the DS4 was with the LED on was last night after a few hours. The battery draw isn’t huge for the LED’s but its still there and noticeable. I think I can safely assume that the DS4 with LED on isn’t going to last 24 hours of being on and idle whereas the DS4 with LED off will probably be scratching at 2 bars.

I did start with the controllers fully charged but I only used the OS to give me that data that the controllers were full an no longer charging. I did not however think of hooking both batteries up to a multimeter and taking a reading before the test started to make sure both were equally charged. Only after a few hours did I think of doing that.

This test is really easy to preform, I’m definitely going to preform it again with more measurements, and I’m hoping more people will do the same given its extremely easy to conduct, and add some weight to the findings.

I was browsing Twitter about thirty minutes ago and I noticed a friend Cameron Brewster whom i follow, had tweeted that Game had cancelled his PS4 Pre Order, here is one of his tweets:

So i went to check my pre order and guess what:

     photo 1_zps23467348.png

That’s right, it has been cancelled, with no warning, with no email telling me that there might be a problem, no phone call to say there was a problem, how ever i did check my emails and seen that they were kind enough to tell me it had already been cancelled, but with no reason why, all it says is this:

     photo Capture_zpsf0562dfe.png

So talking to Cameron and flaming Game for being so damn incompetent, Cameron informs me that we are not the only ones with this problem and that numerous people are suffering the same problem, here are some tweet:

I could keep on posting, but you can read more tweets here:
    Customers Angry At Incompetent Game

if you are a Game customer and preorderred, i highly advise you to check your order, the whole getting it sorted is a pain in the ass too, you use their contact form and you have to wait a long time, you use their live chat and you are put in a queue for several hours, then get kicked and sent to the contact form and their phone service is a computer.

It was bound to happen, some idiot by the name of Darckobra exposed his wifes breasts live on a PS4 Twitch Stream, the worst thing about it, is that his wife was passed out, intoxicated on alcohol, according to the source, 15 minutes after the breast incident, Darckobra covered the camera and when he lifted the cover his wife was completely naked and still passed out.

Here is an image of the couple, the wife clearly drunk, and barely awake:

After seeing all the problems that some US release console suffered, then reading the rumours that the PS4 consoles manufactured in China, at a Foxconn factory were sabotaged by disgruntled employees, we in Europe had every right to be worried about our consoles.

However if the new rumours are indeed correct, we have nothing to worry about, as EU PS4′s have been manufactured at a Japanese plant, the same plant that manufactured the Dev Kits, here is a small quote from the source:

These pictures of the European PlayStation 4 boxes and the actual console hardware are now available on twitter and on different sites. It clearly shows “Made in Japan” written on the hardware and the actual box. If that is the case, then we can likely assume that this new hardware will be of superior quality than the one manufactured in “Hangfujin Yantai” factory in China.
