PS3 Change Of TOS Is Regurgated From 2008
 

Sony released their FW 3.30 yesterday, and today they also updated their ToS. Their seems to be rumors flying around (mainly by an unnamed site) that in the new terms of service, Sony has implemented a rule that allows them to conduct automatic firmware updates. We believe this is not true, why? Because its actually been in their terms of service since 2008, the only thing that was done was some rewording. I have provided a comparison of the 2008 version and 2010 version that has been causing confusion:

2008: 11. MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADES

From time to time, it may become necessary for SCEA to provide certain content or services to you to ensure that PSN, content or services offered through PSN, your PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system or other SCEA-authorized hardware is functioning properly in accordance with SCEA guidelines. Some content or services may be provided automatically without notice when you sign into PSN. Such content or service may include automatic updates or upgrades which may change your current operating system, cause a loss of data or content or cause a loss of functionalities or utilities. Such upgrades or updates may be provided for system software for your PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, or other SCEA-authorized hardware. Access or use to any system software is subject to terms and conditions of a separate end user license agreement found at http://www.us.playstation.com/termsofuse. You authorize SCEA to provide such content and services and agree that SCEA shall not be liable for any damages arising from provision of such content or services or maintenance services. It is recommended that you regularly back up any data located on the hard disk that is of a type that can be backed up.

Section 11 of The 2010 TOS

In my opinion its clearly said that in ''Core Update'' - like removing other ots. They can actualize our system without our permission. Whats more they started some kind of war that shows that we dont have any more free will. What can we do ? Simply pray ... that some hacker, cracker ect. would end this SONY moves. Its hmm pretty fu*ked up cause we cannot disagree with this because we wont get access to PSN. So we - customers are treated like a Donkeys that will do anything to get their carrot (in this case access to PSN)

sounds like sum CYA legal mumbo jumbo to say "we own your system, not u, & we can do whatever we want w/ it" well i got a receipt from wal-mart sayin I paid for this ps3, NOT $ony. i'm jumpin ship to M$ as soon as my boat sinks.:thefinger:

I'm just gonna cut PS3 out on my router, so none traffic goes to my console form the net (or other way), ofc just till GeoHot or someone releases their homebrew.


Long live hackers, homebrew & property ringhts (or whatever states that i own what i buy) !!!

i spent €500 for have a 60gb Ps3 with other os support, i use linux for navigate check mails and see some divx....so i don't wont to waste mi € removing this feature.

So i stay away from PSN and downloading contents, so when Sony see that nobody buy their contents and games have to cry cause loose a lot of money.

I prefer play offline, instead of play online and loose linux.

I think that soon will appear something of good....

This thing, it will be a stimulus for hackers/crackers for homebrew and fix to bypass at least FW update

Another problem just popped up, I hear people have to update to the latest firmware to be able to play the bluray version of avatar.. Which means your PS3 has become even more useless (as OtherOS and bluray was one of the main reasons why I bought the PS3, really FCK SONY!)..

Well there are BluRay rips, not sure I want to link to one here however.
Now I really do not condone piracy, so maybe buy the BluRay then
download it anyway? :dontknow:

I hope I'll be able to play Red Dead Redemption/every other game on 3.15 until the PS3 is open. If not, that's really ****ing stupid of Sony. I'm not a small kid and Sony aren't my parents. I decide if I update or not, ffs.....

I'm not buying any PS3 games until Sony comes to their senses again, or (more likely) someone hacks the PS3 for homebrew/CFW. Until then, I've got other consoles to play with.

Sony deserves no respect from anyone with their dodgy business tactics, shady updates, and all that crap, I will never buy another machine from them.
When the playstation brand goes down from stupid moves like these, i will be there spitting on that grave, its a shame what they are doing to people who payed good money to have a good machine (it was in fact a good machine) and now it only does nothing.
