PS3 Debug Firmware 3.21
 

Its been a while since we had a debug firmware on this forum, recently a close source made available Debug Firmware 3.21, to the forum, you can grab it here(3.21).

There are also older debug firmwares available in the download section.

What can you do with this?

The debug fw's are only for the test/debug ps3 units, they will not work or do anything useful on a retail ps3.

If you have debug/test ps3, you can install this fw to update your current system software, and with the right tools/method you can also downgrade your system software using these update files.

The fw itself has features for debugging the ps3's xmb/games and the playstation store (to an extent) it also has a bd emu (iso loader for those that dont understand what this is) and combined with the sdk (dont ask for the sdk here as its illegal to have it without sony's permission) you can create and test your own debug pkg's

that's a bit hypocrite as distributing the the debug firmware is also just as illegal...

Actually the debug fw, is questionable at best, but no action will likely be taken by sony for this or another other site having them, the full sdk on the other hand could quite easily be used to hack the console completely, so for obvious reasons sony would come down hard on anyone found sharing it.

You do realize that you can get a test unit and the full SDK for only $2000? Sony did this price reduction in order to attract smaller and upstart software companies. If this SDK could be used to do any kind of hacking, then some hacker would have done it by now.

huh? only $2000? I thought that was for the PSP.. and the PS3 development kit was still $10.000+..
