How to customize the PS3 XMB Fonts
 

Got a jailbroken PS3? Want to change up the default PS3 font to something more sexy? Well Kaede from Nyleveia has figured out on just how to do that. You can view our tutorial on how to do that below:




How to get custom PS3 XMB Fonts

1. Make backup up your flash via USBFirm Loader
2. Download a font that you like (TIFF Format)
3. Make 2 copies of that downloaded font, and rename each file to: SCE-PS3-SR-R-LATIN and SCE-PS3-SR-R-LATIN2
4. Copy the 2 files on a flash drive and fire up your jailbroken PS3.
5. Start up Comgenie's Awesome File Manager or PS3 FTP (this or this)
6. Copy the 2 fonts you have on your flash drive to /dev_flash/data/font
7. Go to "theme settings" and change the font to either "rounded" or "pop"
8. Done, enjoy :)

Something about this tells me this hack could go horribly wrong pretty easily... Make a typ-o on the font name or something. I suppose the icon would still load up, I would hope anyhow. But it would depend on how their code works, like if it falls back to a built-in font or something. Pretty cool nonetheless though.

I didnt think it was possible to write to dev_flash yet.

Ive been doing this using the firmware loader, is it possible to write to the dev_flash on the ps3?

can we possibly add other languages support using this? languages the ps3 does not support

I remember people bricking their PSP's when you could first flash custom fonts on there, careful people!
