PS3 Game Updates with Hermes v3
 

Eyed1 from PSX-Scene has discovered that PS3 game updates are now working with Hermes v3 payload.


To quote:

Just to reiterate updates (retail ones) now work with this new payload How? 1.    Get install and test ps3 proxy manager 2.    Start and game up wait until the update starts... cancel it 3.    Start your ftp app (1.1b) 4.    On your pc using the logs part of the proxy app download your retail package file 5.    then package using demomanager* 6.    ftp the folder with the package in it to your ps3 in hd00/vsh/temp/ 7.    start it up in non-jb mode install the patch from the xmb 8.    restart your ps3 in jb mode

*if there is more than one pacth for now u need to do this twice or u demoinstaller *more advanced users can edit the SFO

Fightnight r4/Unreal3 - updates with ease Fifa 2011 - Showed new message 'please insert your fifa 11 disk Ridge racer 7 - update works God of War 3 - update does NOT work Infamous EU edition - with no English, works. Can now play in English Killzone 2 - works. Needs two patches. Sports Champions - Does not work. System freezes. Uncharted 2 - update does NOT work Valkyria Chronicles - Update works. Resident Evil5 Gold Ed- does not work Tiger Woods 2011 - doesnt work System freezes Assassins Creed II v1.02 - asks for disc. eye pet - crashes console Dead Rising 2 - does not work Red Dead redemption - not working White Knight Chronicles - now works with no freezing, crashes on quiting F1 - now works with no freezing, crashes on quiting GTA iv 1.06 - Update working PES2011 - Update 1.01 - does NOT work : Asks for disc Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - Update 1.01 does NOT work : Asks for disc

i tried hd00/vsh/temp/ (there is no temp directory i had to make one)

does not show up

does show up when you put it in hd00/vsh/task/
tht is the proper folder to place in i believe.

the only game i tried was madden 11 (all ea games will get that through this method) , got error message.

edit for old news. this method was not discovered by the psxscene member this is the old way of installing updates when you dont want to update firmware.

if you want to give new news try to tell us the known (but not public) way that people are able to access psn with 3.41.

How can one get updates if the ps3 is stuck in fw 3.41? Updates can only be downloaded when logged in to PSN. And as of now the only way to do so would be to upgrade to FW 3.50 which would disable the jailbreak hack.
