$50 AVR USB or $15 iPod?

Hey, would it be better to pay $50 for this an AVR USB and have it programmable or buy a iPod Nano 1G for $15? I am asking because I don't know if it would be wiser to spend a little more money for something that would possibly work long term rather than on an iPod which I am not sure if it will work in the future.

Which one should I get?
