SELF/SPRX Decryption via 3.41 GameOS
 

It turns out graf_chokolo has been working on more than just obtaining the Dongle Master Keys for downgrading. According to his blog (Graf_Chockolo (via) XorHack?s Blog), and posts on PSX-Scene and PSGroove, he has managed to get a retail 3.41 console to decrypt SELFs and SPRXs.

To quote: Guys, i know you are waiting for the USB Dongle Master Key from me I have got now 2 fat PS3 with HV 3.15 but unfortunately no SX28 development board yet to exploit it

But i was not idle and the last and this week i was working on reversing of self decryption. And now i?m able to decrypt SELFs and SPRXs on my exploited GameOS by using HV calls only and no GameOS functions at all I reversed the interface to appldr which decrypts SELFs on GameOS 3.41.

So you wont? get bored until i get the USB Dongle Master Key, i will make my findings and my source code public very soon and you will be able to decrypt your favourite games and programs by yourself Let the fun begin, guys

once this is released does this mean we downgrade and upgrade firmware like an opensource downgrader or it just decrypts 3.50 games so we can play on 3.41 firmware if any of these or both come back with positive results meaning able to downgrade and upgrade as well being able to play 3.50 games on 3.41 firmware would be awesome progress in the ps3 scene thanks graf_chokolo for doing this

Normally i don't mind, in fact there are probably several errors in this reply. But seriously, there wasn't even a full stop in that "sentence". To answer your question, it could lead to open-source downgrading, although nothing is definite, unforeseen issues can always arise. This in particular won't allow playing 3.50 games on 3.41 consoles, that requires a lot more work.

No point. I think de devs who make these kind of hacks deserve the credits because they publish the news about their latest achievements and let us joy their work.
Only wanted to say it was a double post (I check the latest news before posting) and was surprised this news was front page on other sites and after a few hours there was still nothing on the front page of PS3hax although I reported the news. Next time I'll PM also :idea:

I did check the news posts, I always do. I just didnt see your post as I only checked the "member news" section. Sorry man, but I do follow the rules and was just trying to spread the good news.

And just check my member info, I've been here for quite awhile. I think I know what I'm doing.
