hi guys sorry if i am in the wrong section. i have recently got the yellow light of death i fixed it the first time by opening it and hair drying it this worked the next day i had got it again so i opened it up put thermal paste and this worked now now it is broken again for the third time i went out and got a heat gun heated up the board put thermal paste on and it still doesnt work i have a feeling that the blue ray drive is broken but i dont no if this can cause the ylod. the reason why i think it is the blue ray player is because when i had it the first time i had my game stuck in there i was able to remove the game by switching back switch off and on while holding the eject button i have inserted a blank dics by pushing it in and now the disc wont eject. is my theory correct should i buy a blue ray drive or could it be something els thnx for help

I got my game stuck too,
what i did, was take a blank(or a lame game you dont use) disc, hold it tightly so the ps3 wont suck it in, and then push it ABOVE the other disc inside, the PS3 will try to eject the discs out, now just try to see what works, i think if you push the disc youre holding down(put pressure on the disc below), you will get the disc out.


Ps.. I dont think its the blu-ray drive,
I have also received the YLOD(3rd time and sick of it, so i bought a slim)
but i once forgot to reconnect the bluray drive, what happens is that you can browse the XMB etc but when you try to launch a game, even if its a PSN game on your HDD, it will black-screen.

this problem is crack solder, the bd drive is not the problem, u need reball... thats the only way to fix this problem. You can try use again the heat gun with some flux, this could work a little better than heat gun alone. U should procede correctly with the heat gun too (look for gilsky on youtube)
