Homebrew Internet Browser ?
An article popped up on my news feed reader, it stated that the PS3 was getting Google Chrome as a web browser, now whilst that in itself is interesting, it also stated that sony gave the public source to their web browser, which appears to be open source, here is the link to the files:
http://downloads.snei-opensource.com/pub/webkit/ If you are interested in the original article about Google Chrome, you can read that here: http://gamingtips.org.uk/gamingnews/...or-its-browser So with the source, will it be easier for a homebrew dev to create their own web browser ? |
I am amazed that it hasn't happened already. I figured that would have been the first thing to come after backup managers.

Seriously, the PS3's browser is one of the worst I've ever used, next to AOL. I pray to God someone ports Chrome to the PS3.

Ya having a "real" browser would just make it so much easier.

Well, the topic above this one does also have full source: http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=18462
(http://gpl.ea.com/skate3.html) But after reading the README.BUILDING it seems one does need an official Sony SDK for recompiling.. but then again, maybe by changing some stuff it also could be recompiled using the opensource SDK.. |
