PSN Going Through Major Updates - Improved Security

Well it looks like the PSN has been ”suspended” by sony. As we all know the PSN has been out for a long while due to it being ”hacked by an external source”. Sony want to right this wrong and completely remake and rebuild the PSN or Play Station Network from scratch. That&#82... [Read More]

Sony wants to build it from scratch, sounds like they want to get rid of the leeches abusing the developer servers.

Edit:
Thanks, front paged.

I am very confused, the intrusion onto the dev servers seems unlikely to be the most likely cause of this, why not just lock down the dev servers.

In my opinion Sony have every right to try and improve their security, however rebuilding psn from scratch whilst leaving the old one operational seems more logical, and the current action from a business viewpoint is completely irrational.

I honestly think this goes deeper and has nothing to do with the current ps3 scene, most likely a security flaw has been identified that exposed Sony either in terms of system security (like encryption keys etc.) or and more likely customer detail were not safe somehow.

Sony will not admit anything in this regard, and instead can use the broad term of "hackers" to allow everyone to presume anonymous, Geohot or some other dev are to blame.

EXCLUSIVE for PS3Hax...

Last night I broke into Sonys Secret Underground layer.

While disguised as a Philapino Lady Boy - (they just assumed I was with Kevin Butler for some odd reason) and using my detective skills that are only equal to Inspector Gaget I have the found out the truth on what happened and the new look server ;)

From this:

to THIS:

Now the specs:

1. It has double the power of the original cluster server - Yes thats right it can brown 2 pieces of toast at one time!

2. Now with the improved server it can now also take other bread-related media like crumpets or muffins!

3. Anti-hack proof - They hid all the knifes away

4. Notice the easy-to-use and handy placed "STOP" button just incase of another attack.

5. If it doesn't do what they want; they can always give it to a couple as a lame wedding present.

New features will be added at a later date, of course I shall be there to update you all.
Many thanks for wasting your time with this post.

Regards

DM

does anyone think sony should prop up the old system as a temp fix while they're working on the new one??

Rebuilding security for a service like PSN isn't possible in just a few days, it first takes a long time to really DESIGN new security and then some time to IMPLEMENT it after which you have to TEST it..

But then again, for a lot of us it really doesn't matter, as due to Sony we cannot go online through PSN anyway because of still running OFW 3.15 or due to using a CFW.. So for us (at least for me, since I'm still at OFW 3.15) it's just fun to see PSN down, and hopefully it's down for a long time..

Nice self portrait at the end Dave, pink suits you ;)

If they really are rebuilding the core system, they are just asking for trouble.

It would be far better to just patch the current systems vulnerability and then when the new one is actually tested implement it as planned maintenance.

Unless the things more ****ed up than thought.
