Custom painting my PS3
So I decided to pull my PS3 case apart completely and paint it. I already painted the top piece that slides off to get to all the screws, I painted it a silver color, I think Im going to go with the same color for the body and for the face instead of silver paint it a metallic Blue. Im not getting to fancy with anything like lettering or the like, (I might make a PS3 logo stencil and do it in blue on the top). Ill post pics when im done.
here are the pics http://photobucket.com/PS3paint password is welcome |
Be careful painting around the buttons...you might want to pop out the metal inserts while you are painting.

What ones are you talking about specifically?

Vasaline would have worked well! Anyway I just put the 2nd coat on and am waiting for the final dry. I didnt go all out and sand etc and im not going to clear coat the PS3. I probably will coat the controller though since that will actually be handled. As soon as it dries ill put it back together and take pics,
Incidentally I tried uploading pics but I dont have enough privilege or something. Is there an alternate way? Image shack perhaps? |
yes use tiny pic to upload the pics
then just post the links, by using the picture button on the thread. :) |
here it is
http://photobucket.com/PS3paint password is welcome I will take better more detailed pics tomorrow with a cam, I used my phone and thats all I got. also ill take pics with the guts back inside controller. |
Nice...very retro.

haha retro? Im no artist so I could do anything crazy, But I def did it professional, I primed inside and outside all the pieces and then put color on both sides instead of just outside. 2 coats of prime and 3 coats of color.
If I do this again I think ill try to layer some more colors, I did screw up the front buttons somehow. I pulled them off like you guys said and painted the parts around and put them back but they dont work now. I think either they arnt making contact or when i reglued the top piece that covers them the glue spread under the buttons. Oh well thats what the controller is for. |
