Resident Evil 4 (Mods/Glitches/Hacks)
Hey everyone!
I wanted to make a thread about all Mods/Glitches/Hacks possible on the PS3 version of the game and I wanted to make it a team work with all of you! Hacks: Language menu hack: I'm currently working on a way to force the game reveal the language selection menu by making it think it's the EUR version (code is present in the gamedata) with no success so far (game boots but I get a Trophy error on the warning screens, obviously because the gamecodes don't match) but my ideas for a workaround are not yet ended. I need to exclude all combinations of possibilities first, which are really a bunch. Savegame-Force-English Hack: Works with some flaws.(I take no credit for this hack even though I was the first that said that I was 100% sure that this would work because of the way that RE4 works) - Everything before the game main screen is still in Japanese. - GameOS responsible messages are in Japanese too. - Main menu seems messed up. Overlapping of the Leaderboards menu between the last two selections. Also the menu names don't seem to correspond exactly to what their names say they do. -The button mapping is still in Japanese architecture ( (O) swapped with (X) ) Wii Gamecode leftover/easter egg: Watch: youtube.com/watch?v=YCp-FHnNuYg I just found a kind of humiliating (for Capcom) leftover. Messing around trying to make the game work fully in English led me accidently on a very weird result. When you start up the game on the Main Screen it will freeze for a second making a static audio. When the Menu finally comes up (and you have already finished the game atleast once) under the menu ''Load Game'', a menu called ''Bonus Video'' will come up replacing the ''Leaderboards'' menu. When you press it PS3 seems unresponsive for a bit but after some seconds this video shows up on the screen: Very usefull, you should use it, I can barelly call it cheating, it was an easter egg/leftover by Capcom when they were creating the game. Fence Glitch + Hidden Items Out Of Bounds [Day/Night] (Doesn't Work?): Tutorial: youtube.com/watch?v=DP6Su2GAnLg I've tried it with Leon in Night and with Ada. Both seem to not work. After some investigation I found out that actually in Ada it shouldnt work either way but I could be wrong or it could be just harder. Also with Leon both in Day and Night version of the stage it didn't work or I was very dumb to do it. I actually found out that in Wii version you this glitch is patched, and since the PS3 version is a direct port of the Wii version then most probably this is impossible or atleast harder. If you have any success with it please tell me! Ditman Glitch (2-1 Merchant's Shop + Hidden Items Out Of Bounds) (Works!): Tutorial: youtube.com/watch?v=cmXIdFCg5BQ WOW, I was surprised! It worked. You can pick up also the weird Mine Darts (1) and the Shotgun with the glitchy shotgun ammo model that turns out to be Adas's Shotgun! Don't worry! Equiping it won't freeze the game like on PS2 so you can equip it if you want! It will show up with the same model as Chicago typewriter once equiped with Leon even though It's effectivelly a shotgun! XD One note though, once you get it, you CANNOT sell it or upgrade it, so If you get bored of it, you'll have to discard it... Another notice is for the ones that did that already on an other platform, like in PC, notice that the random out of bounds fence that appears somewhere on the side of the hidden objects, it's missing... I wonder why... Skip El Gigantes boss/glitch shortcut (Works!): Tutorial: youtube.com/watch?v=w6cQvzTSJ8I I don't need to say everything more, the tutorial says all. I had success doing it with the first attempt, it was way too easy. More stuff to be added soon... Your help is always welcome! |
Awesome videos nice job keep it up i really liked the 2nd snd 1st glitch the best like i said good job.
|
The videos obviously are not mine, but I tried to find the best ones tha describe the glitch as noob friendly as possible.
I'm working around also to find a way to enable the debug menu, I think the EBOOT.BIN must have a value that spawns it, like Gamecube/PS2/Wii. |
UPDATE
Added: Skip El Gigantes boss/glitch shortcut - Works Confirmed not working: Fence Glitch + Hidden Items Out Of Bounds - Too bad, it's one of the top 3 best glitches/easter eggs in the game. If you have success in doing it please tell me. |
UPDATE
Added: Wii version leftover/easter egg. |
UPDATE

Nice work, KLM. I'm wondering a few things from what you've posted so far:
1. Are you able to post the method you used to force English in the game, or is it too complicated for most people right now? 2. You say that the bonus video is useful and that it's not exactly cheating. I'm not sure what you mean. Is there some sort of cheat that happens when you unlock the video? 3. I did the Ditman glitch on 2-1 and found the items, but as soon I selected yes when it asked me if I wanted to take the mine darts, the ps3 froze! I haven't tried it again, though. I don't know if there's a particular reason why it froze for me or if that was just completely random. 4. Do you think there's a way to use Krauser, Hunk, or Wesker in story mode? :) |

2. You mixed 2 of my posts. Read them again. They are saperate. 3. My PS3 didn't froze. I heard that sometimes it may freeze so try it again. Mine Darts are yellow and the glichy Shotgun is actually Ada's shotgun. They appear differently or console even freezes because Leon is not programmed to have these items. 4. If it is a reskin of Leon yes, otherwise All of them would result or in crashes since they are not scripted in cutscenes or in T stances since many animations that Leon use in Story Mode are missing such as Catching Ashley from a higher level or the stances of certain (or most) weapons. I'm yet to find a way to swap a model, I'm not a pro at this. |
