Talk about PSP iso's and PS2 runnig the Software emulators...

Hello guys,

im thinking in the last time about Team-Cobra's PSP and PS2 software ISO Loader, that requieres the dongle. Mine must arrive next week.

Some of us tried running PSP Games as PS3 games, because of the similar filestructure. But it wont boot! PSP = PSP and PS3 =PS3...

So if we get a look on our PS3 HDD we will find quick a folder called "pspemu" withe the flash0, release and to selfs.

That what we need now for the first step is installing a PSP-Mini on the PS3 to get a look on it where and what the game ist loading.

The second step i'm on is decrypting the Cobra USB loader without, the peek and poke of the dongle...

So far Jeppad from Germany...

I say thankyou for any other Ideas, or Help...

My english isnt the best, i hope you understand the most of it.

Update 1:
What im now on:
Looked at the PS3/PSP MINIS filestructure.
Its EBOOT.PBP i replaced it with an other EBOOT.PBP from echochrome for psp. I tried to load it but its failed, because the ps3 mini game isnt bought...
I need an decrypted one...

So long

Another thing you want to look at, is that cobra removed the screen asking for license, meaning any game (PS1, PS3, minis) from PSN that doesn't have its license anymore won't show that screen. Instead it will try to boot the game but black screen because the license is still required.

Anyway if you want to reverse Cobra features, you have to reverse the dongle itself, since (most of) the payload is in it.

my nightly report about my stats and news.

I managed to get a working PS3/PSP Mini on my PS3, after the fine installation i copied the installed folder from my PS3 to a usb pen.

At my computer i looked at the filestructure, it is:
Angry Birds
NPUZ00119/USRDIR/CONTENT/DOCUMENT.DAT <-The manual
NPUZ00119/USRDIR/CONTANT/EBOOT.PBP <- MOST IMPORTANT PART
NPUZ00119/USRDIR/load_tmp
NPUZ00119/USRDIR/save_tmp
NPUZ00119/USRDIR/ISO.BIN.EDAT
NPUZ00119/USRDIR/MINIS.EDAT

and of course
NPUZ00119/ICON0.PNG
SFO PS3LOGO.DAT that we know from every Game...

So back to the most important part
NPUZ00119/USRDIR/CONTANT/EBOOT.PBP

If we extract this EBOOT.PBP with an EBOOT2ISO tool we get the PSP version of it!

I compared this EBOOT.PBP with the EBOOT.PBP installed on my PSP
And what i found out is a point where i cant going on further...

At this part i take compare the PS3 version of this mini and the PSP:

PS3 Version of the extractet EBOOT.PBP says:
PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\BOOT.BIN
PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\DATA.BIN
PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\EBOOT.BIN

PSP_GAME\USRDIR <- Empty
PSP_GAME\ICON0.PNG
PSP_GAME\PARAM.SFO
PSP_GAME\PIC0.PNG
PSP_GAME\PIC1.PNG
PSP_GAME\SND0.AT3

The main part of this Enpacked EBOOT.PBP is PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\DATA.BIN which contains the whole game... But to this later.

The PSP Version of Angry Birds MINI:

PSP_GAME\USRDIR\scripts
PSP_GAME\USRDIR\localization
and some other folders containing the GAME data!

PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\UPDATE PARAM.SFO EBOOT.BIN and DATA.BIN
contains an Update for the PSP system^^

PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\OPNSSMP.BIN
PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\EBOOT.BIN <- 2,25mb
PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\BOOT.BIN <- 2,25mb

PSP_GAME\ICON0.PNG
PSP_GAME\PARAM.SFO
PSP_GAME\PIC0.PNG
PSP_GAME\PIC1.PNG
PSP_GAME\SND0.AT3

So what we now see is that the PS3 version of this MINI uses a different way of packing, then the PSP version.

So is in the PS3 version the Game data packed in a BIN

PSP_GAME\SYSDIR\DATA.BIN <- 16mb

The PSP version
PSP_GAME\USRDIR\ <-32mb unpacked

What we need now to get this thing working, to replace this EBOOT.PBP is a tool that let us unpack the DATA.BIN to look at the filestructure. If the its the same like in the PSP version we can replace the files with a different game.

This would let us play other PSP Games on the PS3...

So what do you think?
Why cant i unpack the DATA.BIN?

I hope to get help.

Greetz from germany, and sorry for the bad english

That's not the same as a .bin cd-img. It's a binary so unpacking it would not be an option. The best you can do is to use a debugger, or disassembler, to view the code. I could be wrong.

VIRGIN KLM 11-05-2011 11:37 PM

The games won't work if you replace the loader's EBOOT.PBP.
It is the file reponsible for triggering the PS3 start a PSP mini and the emulator.
It gives a call to PS3 that we are not aware of, somekind of a debug function to run unsigned PBPs.
A signed PBP cannot be launched since the sign must match the one on the EDATfile.
If we could crack EDATs we could technically play every mini tittle out there atleast and hopefully sign a homebrew loader on minis mode.

@Millerbomb i know, or should i write where is the *.cue ^^

@VIRGIN KLM
Thanks, your post helped me a bit.

I thougt we can try a modiefied EBOOT.PBP but this doesnt worked of course.
Because the USRDIR DATA is stored as an DATA.BIN...

Post please other ideas, so we can try manage this by our own...

The only thing i try to understand is, why Team-Cobra managed it so quick. There must be some really good devs on it...

VIRGIN KLM 11-06-2011 10:29 AM

Team Cobra is one of the few serious real developers in the PS3 scene hands down.
We could run any homebrew we want through building it from source but as a PSP Mini tittle and then put it through NPcrypt so the sign will match.
Just note that we must put the same GAME ID as the PSP Launcher.
The thing we don't know is what call Cobra use to relocate the ISO mounted on PS3, and the only way of finding it is by decrypting the payload.
Now decrypting the payload of Cobra USB sounds like a fiction fantasy movie, if you ask me it's better than even Sony's security measures.

And again a very good post from you VIRGIN KLM.
Thanks a lot, in the next few days my cobra dongle must arrive, so i get a closer look then.

so far
