Buying new external HDD!?
 

I'm going to go buy myself an external hard drive coz my PS3 is running out of room, i have no place to store all my movies (legally) and my PC desperatly needs a weight lifted off it's shoulders.

I have narrowed my options down to two:

• SEAGATE Expansion 2TB Desktop Hard Drive

OR

• Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 2TB 3.5"

Does anybody have any recommendations or whatnot because I have absolutely no idea what to get?
Or does anyone have any better deals?

Western Digital Desktop Series are well worth it. if you wanted to build a external your self go "Green HDD's" less power drain and imho last longer.

as for segate i dont know never used them.

OK, thanks buddy. Do you have any good guides on how to build my own HDD? I assume i need to buy an internal for it right? I've googled some guides but they don't go step by step rather show you a video of how the guy did it.

Anybody else got any ideas for me? I'd like to go out and buy one pretty soon.

Buy and external usb enclosue and a hdd and your set to go all the instructions are inlcuded. pretty simple one you get it. but hdd's are freeking expensive cause tywain or what ever got flooded wiping out one of the hdd manufacturing plants :(

Do you have any enclosures to recommend? I don't want to delve into an area i have no experience in then figure out i need extra (usually more expensive) stuff.

Oh sh*t. Ok, so it's the Thailand Floods (link here) which have f*cked the whole industry up. :(

any enclosur is fine as long as hdd size meets, 2.5" for laptop hdd and 5 and a quater for desktop (i think)

@FunkyGanja i think the biggest you can go for a external drive is 1tb i dont think that the ps3 can read anything over that size. but i could be wrong.

When you buy an enclosure read reviews about it and see what others say. Also you might wanna look for some that have a fan in it to help reduce the heat in the enclosure and prolong the life of the HDD

goflex 3tb things are like 60 bucks if you look right
