anonymous dislike button
can't help but notice a lot of useless or insulting comments to posts. of course moderators can't filter all of them, there are too many.
how about a new button for comments that would allow you to downvote comments (while staying anonymous to keep drama down)? at least it would send a signal to commenters who bring nothing to the conversation. something like that: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=243510 |
A button for forum goers to press about moderators would be useful in here too.

How about if 20+ people pressed the dislike button, the post would be removed.
That would clean up a lot of all the whining posts in here... |

This was kinda briefly touched with the "groan" button a while back, the button lasted only a few mins and I can see why.... Trolls would overuse it, I give you exhibit A:
"Sony sucks" Not something a troll would abuse the groan/dislike button over, but have a look at exhibit B: "Come on, all you do is spam your whining because you can't pirate games, cfw isn't something you're entitled to and insulting our devs like you just did isn't helping your cause" This would set off a troll's "dislike fetish" because they filter out what they don't wanna hear, worse yet, as if the dislike button isn't enough, they're still gonna voice their stupidity. |
unfortunately you are right, trolls would be first to abuse it. unless they are banned, my suggestion won't work.

Ok then, how about a troll button to go along with it? If more than 50% of the users posts are labled Trolling/Flaming (Possibly labeling power based on rank) They have a Troll Icon slapped onto each of their posts. If they want to get it off and be taken seriously again, they have to put a bit of intelligence in their future posts.
