Just got a ps3
 

^^ just got mine at black friday and been researching on how to mod it... my question is my ps3 is currently 3.66 and can i update it to 3.73 cfw and does it matter if my ps3 is a slim? any other information would really helpt hanks

there is no 3.73 cfw sorry, must be on 3.55 or lower to have cfw. must downgrade the ps3 although i dont think you can downgrade yours and i think the new slims are unhackable so i think youll have to just enjoy online play mate lol sorry :):):)

yea as jp_cfc09 said there really isn't anything you can do now to jailbreak 3.73 and newer ps3's can't be downgraded but look for more info on the forums or ask an admin. btw u should have gotten one in craiglist or ebay that was 3.55 or lower those can be jailbroken.

Guys calm down we have no idea if its a 3K model.. Op please compare your slim serial (at the back) with the ones here http://ps3devwiki.com/index.php?title=SKU_Models .. and let us know if its a 3k model or not..

Yes we do. The console is brand new with 3.66 firmware. That is a 3XXX model.

Just wait a bit longer (few weeks,maybe months?),hacker by the name of KaKaRoToKS will release his *half* jailbreak for 3.73 firmware,its not CFW and will not enable backups,just homebrew for start,later maybe someone somehow adds backup support and rest :)

so yea update your ps3 to 3.73 for now and enjoy PSN until sony releases 3.74 or 3.80 then don't update :)

first jail = installing homebrew
second jail = running homebrew
third jail = ability to play back-ups
