[TUTORIAL] Fast-Swap Between CFW And OFW (E3-Flasher)
the official Fast Dual Boot is out, so we don't need the Half Dual Boot anymore ;)

here we go to the dual boot, it is just a Semi Dual Boot and not the original Dual Boot of the E3 Team with the OFW<->CFW switch (PS3 NOR<->E3 NOR)!! but better a semi dual boot as no dual boot :rock: Requirements

*** Info: the microSD must format in FAT32 *** 1.1. shut off the Playstation 3 1.2. set the 6 switch of the E3 Flasher: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6504/pinsbackup.png 1.3. put the MicroSD-Card into the E3-Flasher 1.4. starts the Playstation 3 and let it boots to the XMB 1.5. push the "Start"-Button on the E3-Flasher
1.7. put the MicroSD-Card out of the E3-Flasher 1.8. save the backup from your MicroSD-Card to your PC in a folder like this: BackupPS3FlashFWXYZ (XYZ=FW-Version here 40) WARNING: the backup must fit exactly the filesize of 16,777,216 Bytes **see here** and check it with the E3 Nor dump checker. 2.1. Flash Backup patch with the PS3 NOR Patcher 2.1.1. copy your NOR Flash Backup-File of the OFW 4.0 to the folder of the PS3 NOR Patcher v1 2.1.2. starts PS3 NOR Patcher.exe: 2.1.3. klick in the menu on „Load Patch Files“ and select the "config.ini" from the PS3 NOR Patcher folder. 2.1.4. you will see the patches that have readed in the message box. 2.1.5. klick in the menu on „Open NOR Dump File“ and select the "bkpps3.bin" from the PS3 NOR Patcher folder. 2.1.6. klick in the menu on „Patch NOR Dump File“ and your message box will look like this. 2.1.7. klick in the menu on „Save Patch NOR Dump File“ and save the finished „bkpps3.bin.patched“ to your PS3 NOR Patcher folder. 2.2. Downgrade with the E3 "FLASH FUN" mode 2.2.1. copy the "bkpps3.bin.patched" file to your MicroSD-Card and rename it to "bkpps3.bin". 2.2.2. unplug the power cable from the Playstation 3 2.2.3. put the MicroSD-Card into the E3-Flasher 2.2.4. set the 6 switch of the E3 Flasher: http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/129/unbrickpins.png 2.2.5. plug the power cable of the Playstation 3 in. 2.2.6. start the Playstation 3 and push the "START"-Button on the E3-Flasher when the lights of the E3 Flasher are on.
2.2.7. unplug the power cable from the Playstation 3 2.2.8. switch the first switch of the E3 Flasher from "FLASH FUN" to "PS3 MODE" 2.2.9. plug in the power cable from the Playstation 3 and turn on the Playstation 3 2.2.10. If you flashed your PS3 correctly, your PS3 will start and show this message: “Push PS button”. DO NOT PRESS THE PS BUTTON! 2.2.11. unplug the power cable of the Playstation 3. 2.2.12. Insert the Jailbreak/Downgrade Dongle to the right most USB port on PS3 2.2.13. plug in the power cable of the Playstation 3. 2.2.14. starts the Playstation 3 in factory mode: push the "POWER" Button and directly the "EJECT"-Button on the Playstation 3.
2.2.16. unplug the Jailbreak/Downgrade Dongle. 2.2.17. Copy the files Lv2diag.self and PS3UPDAT.PUP from the downgrade_file.rar package of the folder STEP 1 to the ROOT (not subfolder!) of your USB Mass Storage Device 2.2.18. Insert the USB Mass Storage Device to the right most USB port on PS3. 2.2.19. Now turn on your PS3 and leave it alone, the PS3 should turn off by itself in 10-15mins. 2.2.20. Unplug your USB Mass Storage Device from the PS3, and turn the console back on. It should boot to the XMB menu, once it does this turn your PS3 off again. 2.2.21. Now copy and replace the files on your USB Mass Storage Device with the Lv2diag.self from the STEP 2 folder 2.2.22. Insert once again to the right most USB port on your PS3 2.2.23. 3.1. create a folder 355 swap and a folder 400 swap. 3.2. now make a backup of your CFW 3.55 with the NO CHECK patch as in the chapter 1 described. 3.3. patch the bkpps3.bin of the CFW 3.55 as in the chapter 2.1. Flash Backup patch with the PS3 NOR Patcher described. 3.4. copy the bkpps3.bin.patched to the 355 swap folder. 3.5. rename the bkpps3.bin.patched to bkpps3.bin. 3.6. shut off the playstation 3. 3.7. put the OFW Harddisk in the Esata Station. 3.8. copy the 4.0 PS3UPDAT.PUP to your USB Mass Storage Device X:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP. 3.9. turn on your PS3, plug in your USB Mass Storage Device containing official 4.0 update and press start+select when asked. 3.10. when the PS3 reboots, check that the system is fully working 3.11. now make a backup of your CFW 4.0 with the NO CHECK patch as in the chapter 1 described. 3.12. copy the bkpps3.bin to the 400 swap folder. 4. You got me...here I thought you were giving instructions for the fast-swap that they had promised everyone and not the slow-swap they delivered.

i think it is a matter of opinion...
the only problem is that the e3 team have write a stupid instruction for use it! i have actually NO PROBLEM with the E3-Flasher and it works like a charm. when you have questions or problems ask me i will help you... all my users have win the war versus the e3-flasher and love to work with it! i will translate my complete Tutorial in the next days or weeks to english and post it here! you can call it manual or noob manual for secure use of all features!!! |
