HDMI scrambled picture

My PS3's HDMI output is faulty. Anyone know if this problem can be bypassed with a composite cable or would it be a fried RSX? |
It will be a problem with the RSX or HDMI scaler, however 95% of the time it's the RSX. A component cable MIGHT work if it's just bad solder connections between the BGA joints of the GPU that control HDMI and not composite. Very rare, but it does happen.
However it's either time for a reball (if it's just poor connections causing the above) or a replacement RSX. |
does it do this with just the normal tv out? Coz if the rsx is faulty souldnt it do it with tv out also??
dunno for sure, but the rsx is the ps3's video chip. So even 480 wouldnt be possible right? if not can someone elaborate as to why? |
Haven't tried an old ps1/2 cable as i threw them all out. (had about 6 of them lol)
Found component leads on ebay for $3 so i can find out cheaply. Any links to reball info? |
It might just be a faulty port on the tv try another port or tv
