God particle

http://news.yahoo.com/long-sought-go...140202981.html

I am really hoping they find this soon and put an end to all of these religions that believe that some mystical being created everything. In my opinion religion does nothing but cause war.

Dude, the "God particle" nickname for the Higgs-Boson is just a nickname, it has absolutely no relation to religion. The particle is supposedly what imparts mass to all other particles, so it's kind of a master key to the standard model of physics, hence the "God" monkier.

Finding it will have no bearing one way or another on the question of whether or not there's a Creator of some kind.

ok, well if it is the what created matter and mass then wouldnt that disprove any magic creator?

Do you have any idea what the 'God' particle even is? As explained above, it is just a nickname for Higgs Boson Particle.

This particle is what makes up other particles, and is said to be the smallest of the Universe's particles.

There is no religion involved at all.

No, but you are wrong about the 'God' particle.

Might be useful to take a look.

The Higgs Boson, while important as a fundamental particle, did not create all the other particles. It's just what physicists think gives all the other particles mass. An analog would be, what gives electricity it's charge as positive or negative? Electrons. Same thing with Higgs only we're asking what gives matter the property of mass.

from your article-sounds like they are looking for more than mass to me.

Schutz is focusing on one of the other projects here. His experiment is A Large Ion Collider Experiment, or ALICE (whimsical acronyms are a way of life here), which will smash ultraheavy lead ions together to create a miniature fireball to mimic the first split second after the Big Bang. In spite of its name, ALICE is one of the two smaller experiments on the ring. The other, LHCb, will seek to understand why the universe contains matter rather than antimatter or, worse, nothing at all

for i know there is someone watching over us =))

I remember getting suuuper excited about the Higgs Boson like a few years back... I'm glad to hear they're still working on it.

I've speculated enough about it, and I don't even remember much, but when/if they do find it, I'll be very glad.

Also, you're kind of attacking other religions, a bad move :x
You're claiming that your 100% correct, just as is blitz above this post.

Even though there isn't any concrete evidence on either, but then again what is fact, and what is belief, are facts just strong beliefs supported by evidence?

- I just read over my post, I think I'm going to regret posting this, it might start a religion war D:

If you find any of this offensive, or wrong to your own opinions/beliefs, I'll just end this with (IN MY OPINION) :D
That phrase must've saved so much time and effort for the internet.

I don't know what I'm saying any more, I have depersonalization and haven't slept in ~20 hours DERP.
