CECH 2501a - Doable?
 

My PS3 Slim Model is CECH 2501A, bought in June 2011, uses a custom bought HDD (swapped out after I bought the system), AND is updated to OFW 4.0

Am I F'ed? If not, which Tut should I be looking at?

EDIT: The tweet from the Progskeet guys said 4.0 is still downgradable, but the PS3 Scene Status says only if it's in 3.7 OFW range. So I am befuddled

4.0 can be downgraded with progskeet no problem there :)

Depends when the console was made.
Check the date code on the bottom sticker. If it is 0C or 0D, it is downgradeable. If it's 1B, it isn't downgradeable. If it's 1A, some are downgradeable and some aren't.

EDIT: Schwing! After the realization that I had to insert Mortal Kombat in order for the PS3 to even boot up, I did some moar googlin around.

My system has OFW 4.00 on it now, but came with OFW 3.40. So my system IS hackable right? I just need Progskeet since I upgraded to 4.00?

Yes, your PS3 is downgradeable.

Does anyone do Progskeet installation jobs? I've tried googlin but nada. I remember a while back I stumbled on a site that was like a "repository" for people to come to when they needed someone else to mod a system for them. Can't find it for the life of me
