Need some advice on my options
 

I recently chose that I wanted to Jailbreak my PS3 because i'm getting fed up of the amount of times my gave saves have become corrupted because of bad game developers not fixing bugs, I'm not bothered about all the fancy stuff you can do with your PS3, i just wanted to know what should I be using to allow me to:

• Jailbreak
• Use other peoples game saves
• Or Mod my own gave saves if possible?

Using others game Saves = Rebug has an option built in to do so.
Modding your own game saves= I know nothing about it but, search the forums, I've seen posts related to it.

I did forget to mention what @stussy1 stated. If not already at 3.55. You'll need to downgrade to 3.55 IF you can.

I do have 4.0, but can I not just restore the PS3?

No, you'll need to downgrade with a hardware flasher.
Find you PS3 model # e.g CECH....
Search on this list to see the lowest firmware you can downgrade to:

I don't really understand that table?

Has ur machine ever had 3.55 ofw on it if so u can downgrade with hardware flasher.

I've had the PS3 for years, and I've updated on nearly every Firmware

Just looking again my PS3 datecode is 8C, which the table says can downgrade to 3.55

Okay, the lowest you can downgrade to is 2.42FW which means you can downgrade to the required 3.55 FW.

So now you need to invest in an E3 Flasher (solderless) or if you don't mind soldering the flasher, use Progskeet.
