Help needed with determining 360's flash
Okay people I need help.
A friend brought me his X360 (fat jasper) and now I need to figure out if it's flashed/jailbroken/whatever and what type of hacking has been done with the console in the past. I have a legit X360 Slim and since I never bothered with flashing/jailbreaking it I'm a total noob. All I know is that he paid somebody to do something with the console so he could play copied games and since he's also a total noob that's all he could tell me. So my question is, what's the easiest way to determine all this stuff? Any type of help or tips greatly appreciated, thanks in advance. |
read the drive with jungleflasher

Okay, to do that I need to open the console and take out the drive...
I'm totally new to all this and I've spent the last 24 hours reading a bunch of stuff all over the internet, I know my way around a PS3 very well but with 360s it's way more complicated (and now I'm glad I never thought about "jailbreaking" my 360 slim). Anyway, I have a few questions so if somebody could answer them for me I'd be eternally grateful. Since his 360's drive has already been flashed in the past (with something) to run backups, what's the easiest thing I can do now to allow my friend to play the newer XGD3 backups? I suppose I need to flash the drive again with something, right? Does he need to buy any special hardware to do that? As I mentioned above, it's a fat 360 with a Jasper board (2010-03-17), dashboard version is 2.0.12416.0 and also I'll mention that he doesn't care about ever going online with his console, I don't know if that's important or if I need to provide any other info. Thanks in advance. |
you will need to reflash the drive with jungle flasher you can find this with google.
if the drive is a liteon you will need to buy or make a pmt probe to get the drive key. here is a tut for flashing drives and how to determine which drive you have. download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?fqkme2j3dm1erxa |
my advice if he isnt ever going online is to RGH it instead of flashing the drive.
no discs, no mess, no region locks, freestyle dash, homebrew, every game+DLC works. ****, i even managed to do it myself so it cant be too hard lol |
Wow this is really helpful stuff!
@andrewrich I remember seeing this tutorial somewhere a while ago. I remember it because I thought that's the most detailed tutorial in the history of tutorials. Thanks a lot, I'll look into it if this whole RGH thing @japsander is mentioning turns out to be too complicated/expensive/something else. @japsander So RGH is something like "our" jailbreaking on the PS3. It seems like an interesting option and I've looked around a bit but it only made me feel even more lost. I guess that's the way it works, I felt the same when I got the PS3, my first iPhone, etc etc. So please tell me this - doing a RGH requires some hardware, I figured that out. What does he need to pull it off, what would you recommend (since I saw a bunch of chips, kits, dongles, cables, it's a bit confusing) and if there's an idiot-proof tutorial somewhere, that would also help a lot. Once again, I'm really really extremely ridiculously grateful for all the information you shared with me. Thanks a lot, guys. ;) |

To dump the nand you can either use printer port (I tried 3 days unsuccessfully) Or buy/use another nand flasher like progskeet or nandx. RGH is similar to our cfw except the only restriction is no online, there are no problems about getting games to run. Every game can be run from a fat32 ext hdd http://unmrkd.net/heavenlymodz/uncat...-all-you-need/ There is one guide. A couple of the solder points can be tricky so best getting a pro to do it if you are not very good. I did it anyway and mine turned out fine :-) |
Okay, that's pretty much all I need to know, once again, thanks a lot for your replies and for clarifying all this stuff for me.
I guess I'll ask around to see if anybody here makes the RGH for money but since it's a small and poor country chances are pretty slim. If that doesn't work out I'll just flash his drive and let him worry about games. After all, he can borrow my legit discs and play them (the guy just wants to play Dark Souls, lol) without worrying about making backups. |
