JB2 Technical Thread
A little soon I know but just to save some time tomorrow once the real work begins :)
What you will see here will be: Nice high res pics of the internals. A full description of the internal components. Pics and descriptions of what will be done whilst tearing it open. Pics and descriptions of how we dump it. HOPEFULLY a nice clean dump of the code contained in the dongle. We not only wanted to make a dump and put it out there, we wanted to also show how we have done it. None of this will be applicable to the other 2 main dongles (TB & JBK) however there are other cheap clones in Asia this may also work on :) Aside from that knowledge should not be kept to ones self. As we learn and discover, so shall you :) I just ask no one post in this thread until we have put the info out.. if you would like to say something in the meantime either tell me Im awesome in my hello thread or just click the "Like" button. Thank You :) |
Just a quick update.. things are going well, VERY f*cking well :D
I wont go into it at the moment but rest assured there is going to be some very BIG shakeups happening soon ;) We are just compiling info privately for the moment as we go and then will put it all here in the following days :) Those of you who know me will be confident Im not bull****ting :D |
Just a minor clarification that I have had to do several times before:
The JB2 website says they used an Actel chip. This is not true. The JB2 website is just a clone of the TB website. (funny huh) TB use an Actel Pro Asic 3 as part of their security to protect their stolen work from thieves who may steal it from the other theives etc etc. |
Hmmm the more we dig into this dongle, the more it's looking like the work of TB....
Strange, useless fact I know :) Still interesting.. Too many questions of "why the hell would a cloner do that?" A productive and rather fruitful night tonight but bed is calling us both now :) |

I know this is taking longer than I said....
We had originally just planned to dump it and put that out there, we re-thought that idea & have enlisted the help of some VERY competent people to do something special. The best part.. EVERYTHING will be open source :D Ive got some extra hardware on order for Gumbie & things should really speed up then ;) I cant stress enough that this is a formality & that good things are coming.. I personally would wait 2-4 weeks if I was thinking about buying a dongle ;) Oh and to the sudden influx of people trying to follow me on twitter... I rarely post & if I do it wont be anything to do with this.. so unless you wanna hear the latest on my bowel movements I wouldnt bother :p |
Any new developments on this? Thanks in advance...

It's coming soon :)
Mark and I have been a bit preoccupied with a previous project we have been working on and I've had to purchase Mark a new SPI Flasher but we have some nice documentation recorded on the JB2. I shall ask Mark if he minds me posting it up, it is essentially all done apart from the last bit. We aren't doing this to be scene heroes and my opinion is that if someone else wants that mantle then they are free to take what we have done and do the rest. Otherwise it will probably be another week - 2 weeks max before we put the dump out for people to play with :) |
thanks for your guys time and commitment for the free scene. I know what it takes and you guys have great motivation( whatever it be, weed?) Keep it up cant wait to see what you guys have come up with.
