Direct blu ray movie copy ?
Hey everyone nice to be here , i have a question, i want to know if the playstation 3 can play a direct copy of an original blu ray movie, nothing ripped or converted, just copied.

With linux installed you would write something like:
Code:
dd if=/dev/bdrom of=/home/adventfred/title.iso |

Nah, you’d need to mount the title.iso in for example AnyDVD HD and DeAACS it, then the m2ts file from that extraction would be playable.

This was something I was wondering but then I decided to rip my blu rays to external HDD and play them via the media player on the ps3. It's a pain to split the file into 45 min segments but it does the job :)

what about a copy of a blu ray movie on another blu ray disc ?
EDIT: like a disc to disc copy |

sorry for the late response guys for some reason tapatalk does not tell me when i have notifications lol.
I mean by splitting the movie into seperate parts of 45 mins each. For example say a movie is 2hrs and 37mins long i could split this into 3 45 min segments and be left with a 4th one of 22 min left equaling 4 pats of the film. Now i no that your thinking why would you want to do this? We no that BR's are protected with this via the soundstream and video stream and there is a rough estimate of about a 20 minute mark which isn't a specific point. The technology seems to require anywhere up to a 20 minute segment to be played for detection of this. It's not an exact point on the disc where the protection exists. The Cinavia signal is embedded in the audio signal and survives all re-encoding and even analog recording attempts. So from this we are able to determine that we cannot alter the audio or video via compression or changing the way it was encoded. Therefore it left us with 2 choices to play with. 1. Everyone knows about the whole streaming thing that was fixed but as you no it did allow the playback of "Pirated" or "legal backups" from playing via a computer connected to the same network. 2. Not many people no about the splitting of a file but i have found that by splitting the file you are not altering any sound or video at all your splitting it into segments. So technically you have the full movie just not in one go. Think of Cinavia as a common iPhone app such as soundhound or shazam now what they do is "listen" to a sample that is being played and identifies it with a server to give you the results. Now Cinavia does a similar process only when it realises that you are not playing the media with a Disc it stops the playback. This is where the split comes into play. I found that it checks the whole film for the audio stream and the video stream at the same time so i thought well why do i not try to stop it from checking the movie all together. I did the usual things i converted it, re-encoded it, basically everything you could think of. But then i thought well if that is not going to work why don't i try to find a way in which i can stop it all together. So i split the movie in to different segments ranging from 5 mins up to 1 hr. Now this is where it got fun. the 5 min mrk passed with flying colors which i loved i had a BR copy that i could watch without the errors popping up in my face every time i tried to watch it. But then i had a problem i had a very slight pause in between every time the net segment started to play. So i tried with again with 15 mins. Again it passed easily but again i was not happy. Eventually i hit 45 mins and i was pleased 3/4 segments for a 3 hour film a second if that to start a new segment worth it. I did try up to an hour but for some reason anything over 45 mins cinavia was not happy with so i stuck with 45mins for the past year and never had a single error pop up at me since. I figured that because the movie was split into separate parts it could not check thow whole movies sound or video against the server to find out that it was not a BR because no film i no of is under an hour apart from shorts. So with it not being able to verify the movie i have found a work around that has not be stopped in over a year. I hope i have explained it a little easier for you guys and if you need any more advice or need the software i use i would be more than happy to share it with you. |
thanks for that detail explanation :D.....but whats the deal with blu ray copies ? no rip no convert just a copy of a blu ray movie on a burnt disc ?
