A problem even I can't fix...

What model number is your PS3?
CECH-30XXB
What firmware is your PS3 on?
4.11 OFW

Is it a hardware problem?
No

Is it a software problem?
Probably

If it is a software problem, have you made sure that you have downloaded the latest version of this software?
Yes

Are you running CFW?
No
Is your console bricked?
No

Have you ever downgraded your console with hardware flashers? (Teensy, ProgSkeet, E3 Flasher, etc...)
No

Have you tried searching the forum for someone experiencing the same problem before posting?
Yes

Describe your problem:
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 and 2 seem to be having issues, Modern Warfare 1 won't start, and Modern Warfare 2 will start but when I try to play it it goes to the XMB.

What have you tried to do to resolve this issue yourself:
Updated both the system software and the game, "rebuilt database", "restored filesystem", checked and made sure the disc was clean, cleaned the PS3 inside and out, everything else works fine just not these two games.:vollkommenauf:

I'm a really technical person, but I really can't figure out why it isn't working. I've tried different discs. I don't think this will lead to any "discoveries", but I thought I would post just to have a brainstorming session.

Try to run any other game and if its run then you've got a damaged laser (optics problem)

Try starting the game without internet connection

Never would've thought of that due to the fact my machine never has a connection, I'm curious if it works

Hello, can I ask you, does Modern Warfare say "Is this game Modern Warfare?" and you try to select yes but it doesn't work or doesn't it even work at all.

On Modern Warfare 2 does your PS3 play the start screens (basically the Activision and Infinity Ward crap) and stop at random?
If so: 1. Get one of those special disk cleaners and clean it.
2. Then keep pressing start so it shows campaign and just rush to press down the (X) when you get to the Multiplayer (kindof) button.
3. It should work, if not repeat the step until you can load the game fine.

try to ask for a friends mw1 and 2 see if they work, might be a problem with your games, they may be damaged and you haven't noticed it.

I already tried other discs, cleaning the disc, changing lasers, etc. I just read on a forum that a lot of people in Europe are having this problem. They all say it was after they updated to 4.11, so I'm going to submit a bug report to the appropriate entities. Thanks for the help though guys. And hey Pockets!:hello:

This is a funny fact indeed, since the titles when you *mess* with the flash of the xbox360 that you cannot play are COD MW 1/2/3 or give you problems.

Seems odd.

Is it possible that game is PAL and you are let's say in USA? I'm not shure is there still region code for PS3 games but I know few years ago they say you cant play NTSC games on PAL console something like that.
