Setting up FTP Ethernet for MAC users.
 

Here is a quick tutorial on how to setup FTP via Ethernet for MAC users. :)

Programs used:

OSX - Filezilla

PS3 Open FTP


1) First off plug in your ethernet cable into your macbook / mac then plug it into the back of your PS3.


2) In OSX click on the apple logo & go to System Preferences > Network> click on ethernet it should have a green orb which will indicate that it is connected & active.

3) OSX will generate a random IP address for you: it will be longer than a standard IP but it works. :)

4) Click on Advanced> DNS > [type in any random DNS you'd like i.e.: 192.168.X.X] and press the + button & click OK.




PS3 Side:


Go to Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings > Custom > Wired Connection > Auto Detect> Manual > Input the IP address OSX gives you.

Subnet Mask - 255:255:0:0
Default Router - OSX IP ADDRESS
Primary DNS - DNS you put into the DNS tab earlier.
Secondary DNS - Leave it blank.


Follow the prompts until you reach the end.
As long as you see IP Address: "Succeeded" Thats the important part, the rest of the test will fail but that does not matter.

Exit

Now go to your FTP application on your PS3
You will see the IP address you entered earlier. Load up Filezilla & enter the IP Address you see on your screen, in the port box enter 21


You will have access to your PS3 at a much higher speed. :)
