Does gamestop have any 3.55 PS3's?
 

I have $200 worth of gamestop gift cards and I was wondering if they still have any pre-owned PS3's on 3.55 firmware. Do you guys think they do?

If I remember correctly, Gamestop refurbs all PS3's that they take in and I'm sure they update them to the latest FW in the process. You could ask them to bring out all the ones have to check if they wanna make that sale.

I figured they would update them, especially since newer games require firmware above 3.55. I will still try. Any ideas on what to say if they ask why I wanted it on 3.55 or below?

Tell them the truth:

"Because you wanna put Linux on it and Sony took that away but you still have a way to do so with 3.55 or below." :laugh:

They'll be more concern with trying to get you to spend money than asking that I'm sure.

Good point. They couldn't care less about what I do with it, as long as they are making money. I'm going tomorrow morning to see if they have any.

Probably should have asked this myself, but the damn employee was having all sorts of trouble with a trade in.
Few weeks back there was a deal if your trade in any xbox its worth 150$ downfront. Well the damn employee tried giving me only 110$ because it wasn't listed in the device section. I started getting pissed and eventually a certain employee knew what he was doing and helped out. Turns out the first employee wasn't seeing a second section for my 4gb xbox.

Funny thing is.. my first ps3 I traded has the same identity as the new one I got :what:
Shame though, didn't read up on cfw until I got home and realized I was screwed lol. My old one had it, dunno why I sold it.

If you wanna find a 3.55 ps3 I recommend searching for old Bundles of ps3's that have an old game bundled on it so it'll likely be 3.55 or lower. I asked my gamestop and they had like 20 bundles that they had lying around with games like rachet and clank and uncharted 2 all on ofw 3.55 .. to bad I didn't have enough money to buy one >:-(

I have a few friends at Gamestop and they know what I do with my system, anyway so I asked about it and they said what basically alienkid already has, that they ship them to corporate right away they put new FW on them format hd etc then send them back.

GameStop does have 3.55 ps3, I think they even have oldest ones. Just go and ask them...they don't give a damn.

I think it would just be easier to get an E3 flasher for my PS3. My only interest for the CFW is modding games. I might just decide to get a PSP.
