Thinking of getting a 360, Have questions about modding it.
I am thinking of getting a 360 and modding it, I know ZERO about the 360 hacking scene. I am looking at best options and opinions. What I am looking for doesn't not have to be live friendly, I have no interest in online play. But what I am interested in having my games on external hard drive. I have a toddler so disc's get scratched.. So if someone would be willing to help me and walk me through some questions I have that would be amazing. Also the best place to buy a easy to mod system.

looks like you need a jtag / reset glitch hack
live is out of the question but everything else and more is available to you :) all games run off ext fat32, full control of 360 hardware, homebrew all from the dash (freestyle dash) be aware that to do this yourself requires some skill, patience and hardware extras nand reader/writer (nandx is what i use) although you can make lpt readers but slow as hell rgh chip (i use matrix v2) good quality soldering iron as some points are very fine slim install guide fat install guide these are for the rgh install only dumping the nand is extra (see links below) http://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54423 as far as i know, slims must be the trinity model and phats must have hdmi as the glitch takes advantage of the hana chip. (things may have changed since i last looked) the dashboard you will want is freestyle dash homepage for a full guide, this is the best i just found (better ones are out there) click me all in all, its not for the faint hearted but well worth the reward. my advice is that if you arent very technical or simply dont want to do it for the challenge/ joy of tinkering then send it away for someone else to do for you, but do go ahead and get this done as it blows everything this scene has to offer away no waiting for games no DRM enforcement win win win note: the guides above mostly list the xecuter coolrunner as the chip of choice but you can use any on offer, the install is the same and be aware that you should really buy a preprogrammed one. here is where i buy my supplies |
Hey japsander..........how much total would a modded xbox cost........roundabout figure.
|
no idea at current prices as i only do personal and its been a while
my slim 360 cost £40 (long story) chip cost £12 nandx cost about £25 diy nand dumping cables can be made for a couple of £ if you dont want to pay for the usb methods you just need to be sure the 360 is compatible which excludes any brand new 360 slims with corona motherboard (unless things have changes) fat xenons couldnt be done last time i looked either |
true but you cant jtag after a certain kernel. what you can do and is easier is just flash the dvd firmware and with that you can go online as well as play your backups (no bans heard of as yet as long as u remain updated).

And yea, the later kernel versions can still be RGHed.. my kernel version is just after they made a kernel update that removed JTAG :( T.T.T.T |
Look into a xkey and Wasabi 360, there both very easy to install and use you can use a external hard drive with the both of them.
Someone also asked about them and I posted what I thought about them I own both. http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=39377 There both sold here http://www.modchipcentral.com/store/ There homepage, Wasabi 360 http://wasabi360.com/ xkey http://xk3y.com/ |
i just flash my drives burn games onto dics and away i go lol
************* [ - Post Merged - ] ************* and look on youtube how to jtag plenty of videos |
My 360 was Jtagged. I haven't seen that much of the Xbox thing but the RGH will allow you to play the games. If you want to Jtag you need a xbox running the blade dash and on or below Kernel 7371. Jtagging seems easier than installing RGH but then again they will be much harder to find as they are old.
